Styrene bonds well with model railroad cements such as plastruct model cement or some MEK which is the same.Just put the crack together and apply the cement from the back. Dont use tape on the crack as the liquid cement will creep under the tape and damadge the plastic. Bill

Shapeways.com... any good for custom Lego pieces?
Bamos replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Our 3d printer in our R and D lab even at the highest quality is not suitable for production. The material is usually a nylon material which is very soft and springy. Bill -
Thank you everyone for your comments. The green boxcar was a series of cars that was repainted in pullman green and fitted with high speed trucks for their fast mail service in 1948 . The green should be much darker but there are not many parts available in dark green yet. The brown boxcar was the standard color for most railroads from the great depression to the bright paint jobs in the 50's .It was a cheaper paint made from iron ore. Bill.

Hello everybody just thought I would share a project for my LEGO railroad. As a fan of the Great Northern Railway I made a boxcar that is loosely based on one of the most numerous of the G.N. 40 foot Boxcars as they went through various rebuilds from the forties to t when they were scrapped in the eighty’s The first one is from when they were built in 1947. they were painted in all Mineral red which is a reddish brown with black under frames and trucks. There are no Reddish brown doors so I decided to use some black doors as a compromise. The roof walks were left unpainted for safety and soon weathered to a light grey Great Northern Boxcar 1947 Rebuild by diesinker87, on Flickr The cars were rebuilt in 1954 and repainted in vermillion red with black under frames and trucks and white safety stripes added along the bottom edge. At this time their roof walks were also changed to metal. This paint scheme is easier to recreate due to the necessary parts in red. Great Northern Boxcar 1954 Rebuild by diesinker87, on Flickr In 1970 the cars were rebuilt again this time painted Big Sky Blue with black under frames and trucks. At this time they also had their roof walks removed. But since the doors are not available in blue some more substitutions were needed. Great Northern Boxcar 1970 Rebuild by diesinker87, on Flickr Hoped you liked my renderings of some of my projects. Eventually I want build these in real bricks soon and i have created a video of the blue boxcar instructions on YouTube. The rest are basically the same with just some color changes. Bill

I love your building especially the interior and the opening sides. Maybe you should make a bakery or a pizza place for your Minifigs to use after. Bill

Using LEGO in publications: Copyright Issues
Bamos replied to dcg_in_cc's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The use of LEGO bricks in brick filming or publication falls under fair use act some examples are video reviews. However I would put a disclaimer in the credits that you are not affiliated or endorsed by the LEGO group. The LEGO logo is different in that it cannot be used without written consent. Bill -
What's Your Favorite Train Documentary and/or TV Program?
Bamos replied to Hey Joe's topic in LEGO Train Tech
In the U.S. we have a show on PBS called Tracks Ahead. It is mostly model railroads , Garden railways and prototype trains but sometimes they have LEGO trains if they are covering a NMRA event . Some of the episodes can be found on Youtube. Bill -
I Have had parents ask me if other brands are compatible with LEGO at least once a month in my weekly searches. And then there are the parents following the child down the LEGO section carring a megablocks box telling them it is just as good. Bill

I have not purchased any DUPLO until now but that may change they are so cute. And also Pixar’s John Lasseter is chief creative officer of both Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios and is the principal creative advisor at Walt Disney Imagineering. Bill

I use it for Bridge track the inside rails look like guard rails, spur tracks for buisnesses and for creating a large radius curves. Bill

I love the old modular buildings and I am currently buying parts for them right now . But the question is would any one buy a medium blue and bright blue market street a white grocer instead of the green grocer as some of the parts are not made in green any more . Or a café corner with a reddish brown roof. Bill

LPub and MPD Files
Bamos replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Walter Lpub only sees the model at the top of the list in Mlcad.I always make the first model the master model with all of the sub assemblies. I also had problems with Lpub not reading some files but when i looked at them i found out i had unknown parts and duplicate entries in the text file of the model but once I took those out it worked fine. Files to be used in povray have to be exported from Ldview to be formatted right for Povray. Bill -
Elen I love it. But now i am going to be humming the theme song all day. Bill

Lego has stopped drop shipping in the US due to credit card fraud. And they have canceled the VIP cards for some customers who do drop ship even hen it was not fraud like a gift for a family member.

The Milwaukee Road 4-6-2 Hiawathas ran from 1935 to 1939 when they were replaced by the more powerful 4-6-4 Hiawathas due to the train going from 6 cars to 9 cars. The original 4-6-2 Hiawathas were reassigned and called the Midwest Hiawatha. Bill

I do not think we have seen the last of the 90 degree crossing or the crossover. Companys do not throw away old tooling if it can be refurbished and all those stories about it being burried under some parking lot somewhere is just a wives tale. Bill.

Brickgrrl Have your streets like they are running through the wall with the modulars facing the street. In between the modular backs you could put an alley or green space. Modular front facing > then street < next modular front then Alley or green space then Repeat ____________________________________________________train line It eliminates the street plate between the modulars and the track and my city has a lot of track that runs beteen buildings. I use lifelights http://www.lifelites.com/ for my building interiors

Kris Beautiful but also ominous your church looks like the cloisters from Blizzards Diablo Two video game. Also good job on the gothic arch over the doorway and round plates for broken brick. Bill
-
Brickgrrl You could place the modular sideways with the train running beside them. It would cut the space to one and a half base plates per side and you would also be able to see both the front and back of the modular. Bill
