I was looking at the Lego club magazine yesterday and the advertisement for the Chase McCain video game has the helicopter arrest set hidden in shadows but still plainly visible. I wonder how many more hints are out there we have not seen yet. Also when comparing the 6394 metro park and service tower and the 4207 city garage I noticed in 1988 they released a bank, parking garage and vacation camper. Fast forward to 2012 and we got a bank and money transfer, city garage and a car and caravan. Itβs probably just a coincidence but still interesting Bill

7939 and 7938 were June introductions. Bill

LEGO themed names for town's pub / hotel / bar

electricsteam Rules are open to interpretation are you limited to either 0-6-0 or 0-8-0 arrangement or just 6 or 8 drivers if itβs the later you could build a articulated engine like a Pennsylvania duplex but without the leading or trailing trucks an 0-4-4-0 . Or if the drivers do not have to be powered use a PF powered front and rear truck like a Hudson 4-6-4 the L and M motors use more gearing to change the direction of power and any change will cause resistance and slow your train the regular train set motors are made for speed all others are for torque. Bill

Electricsteam Unless you are racing outside into a severe headwind it will not make any difference. But driver size, weight and gearing will. With a larger driver the wheels turn faster there for more speed. Gearing is the opposite the smaller the gear more speed. So technically a toy story 0-4-0 driven of a 9 volt or PF gearbox with the largest drivers you can find should be the fastest. But it will not corner at all. Bill

Lightningtiger When I suggested the motel a while back I was not thinking of a pub but now i get it. Your railway workers must of spent a lot of time in them to get that name. Kind of like how brothels in the US are associated with red lights. The workers would leave their lanterns out front so the runners would know where they were. Bill

Garden Railways - A Lego Layout in the Garden? Is She Nuts?
Bamos replied to Locomotive Annie's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Locomotive Annie You could buy regular UV resistant track desiged for outdoor railroads and build your locomotives to that scale. I think the Lego track would dry out and become so brittle from the UV rays that it would lose its clutch power rather quickly. A man on the Model Railroad forums tried it with regular HO track. Within six weeks it was so brittle it fell apart when the tried to move it after a washout.. Bill -
Something like this model train motel will work http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/bac/bac45214.htm Bill

Noahs dad I puchased the bakery and the the post office at 25 percent off at a Chicago IL lego Store in February after i got back into lego. Lego shop at home also clearanced them but at a lower percetage. I remember seeing them in store and the website through spring. They brought both of them back in October. so you should have some time. Bill

Another option is to make a powerd tender, freight car or passenger car to push the locomotive. Bill

After looking at the pictures i have changed my mind. This round of fire has exceeded my expectations it reminds me of some of the fire staions built in the 60's and 70's in the U.S . Good thing i only have the fire brigade so far.

That barbeque looks great and everything else also. Bill

My wife went over to my local Toys R Us in Northern Illinois to get this set. They only had 4 left and the cashier said they only received 2 cases of sets. The printing on them looks to be as good as any modern minifig and they have nice clean lines and colors are opaque. You have to have a total purchase of 60 US dollars Bill

Tony Very nice little steamer you have built. I like how you offset the drivers to match the prototype. And the use of the minifig plates to simulate rivets. Bill

Great MOC oky. This really made my day the story and the backgrounds are perfect.

The Target where I purchased mine is in Chicago Illinois. And it was 3.99 not 4.99 US dollers as I said before. Sorry about that. -

Hello everyone My name is Bill and I am from Northern Illinois. Me and my wife got back into Lego about a year ago. I was an HO train modeler for many years but switched to Lego town and trains after my wife showed an interest in them. So the HO train stuff went to auction and a new layout will replace the planned HO train layout. Thanks Bill

Hello everyone My name is Bill and me and my wife are from Northern Illinois.I have been reading the forum since we got back into lego about a year ago. We had both played with Lego as kids and loved them. We got back into Lego after she found the small car set 3177 and I found the cargo train 7939 last Christmas. From there it kinda snow balled into a hobby we could both enjoy. Now the HO things that she was not that into went on Ebay and a new layout will soon replace the planned HO one. Thanks Bill
