They didn't do well enough to stick around. If they did, they'd stick around. No way would Lego refuse money. :P I consider that not fully ideal. I guess it's what you consider a "failure". Lego and many people probably don't consider it to be so. But unless it sticks around I tend to think it wasn't that big of a success, otherwise it would have stayed. And because I'm pessimistic and evil, I call that a failure. (ignoring possible legit reasons, like trading for a new franchise which is what Castle did) EDIT: On a more positive note... (not mine) Suddenly I want Super Mario Lego. :)

I think it's fairly evident that it didn't do as well as they probably would have liked. Otherwise it wouldn't be discontinued. And after only a year too. I'd love that too. But after Mass Effect 3 it's even less likely. The only chance is if those movies they've been trying to put together work out.

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
BrickG replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think there's a good outcome. For one, they don't take the models and say "we're doing this as it is". If they did a Sandcrawler it would not be anything like the original submission. Just look at the earlier submissions and winner and note the differences which can be pretty large. But really, I think a clear "kind of win" for them is to announce that, while the Sandcrawler isn't picked for Cuusoo's project, it's been fast tracked (in a more tame form) and will be released in a wave or two in the normal Star Wars sets. -
I'd love to have some Avatar sets... Though given the history I don't think it's happening. :( Plus Lego doesn't like girls ;P and The Legend of Korra has a girl at the helm. The original sets sucked because they were in between like a change of styles for Lego (IMO those years sucked). But these days they can do it right. Her skin is good. I swear it was ripped straight from her art.

Yeah. These must be inappropriate. Lego Friends must be cancelled.

Honestly, I'm sick of being politically correct, so I don't do it as much anymore. Some views are wrong. This is one of 'em. I don't care about wrong viewpoints. Yes, maybe from a business perspective that's unwise. But I lack caring. (I'm specifically talking about boobs being inappropriate, not actively trying to get lego to add them)

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
BrickG replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'd be interested in Seeing the Ghost Rider in minifigure form the most myself. I'm not too fond of the character, but the minifigure would be awesome. Probably his bike too. I'm imagining his skull and a unique new mold for a headpiece which is a tastefully done transparent orange flame "hat" that naturally looks like his head is on fire. -
Set Falling apart while trying to build.

I don't remember. Maybe in my childhood. Though recently, no. But I'm a grown man and a lot less stupid... The only times my sets failed is when they were MegaBloks when I was a kid. Broke during and after the build... -
LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality

Yeah this review will be... interesting. Pete is a stupid idea, niche and limited. Really, really... stupid. Sorry people from that school lol. Space Marines are conflicting as it has been said. The ones that have a chance of making it into that review: Android Zelda (again) The Land Rover And maybe the Tumbler. Zelda won't happen for the same reason as before. Too many unique molds needed. The Tumbler IMO won't happen because it already exists, be it a stupid version. Then the Android... and Land Rover... both are not quite up to par with previous sets (I don't think they'd sell nearly as well as Minecraft or BttF which WILL sell well). But their chances are decent I guess... IMO that wave will be boring. :) The Mars Rover, Sandcrawler and Portal is probably the most fun yet just because it can go to anyone. However... Mars Rover I think it has a very strong change. But their business side of things might make note that the hype over the Curiosity Rover will be significantly less by the time they could get the set out. I know it's similar to the first two projects, however I believe Lego Cuusoo is going more towards commercialism and things with the highest profits would have a much higher chance. Sandcrawler Great chance. I figure 3 things can happen. "No." "Yes, but in the future as a normal Star Wars not attached to Cuusoo." "Sure, as a Cuusoo thing" (really doubt this one) If it "won" or was confirmed as coming to the normal Star Wars line it would be significantly less impressive, more comparable to the original set. Portal Do not underestimate this game's power in popular culture. It would sell very well. Contrary to popular believe I believe it could be done with little to no new molds (heck, just print a normal block to look like the Companion Cube). I think it has a good chance. However, it faces some TOUGH competition. It's freakin' hard to say which will "win". I think either way we'll see another Sandcrawler eventually and I don't think it would take up a "slot" for Lego Cuusoo. This might make them put a new Sandcrawler set on the fast track. I'd say one of the other two will "win". Both have a good chance. I think Portal's set would sell better. But I think the Curiosity Rover would be much simpler and more cost effective (you don't even need to print anything probably!). I'd say it's 60/40 in favor of Portal. I could easily be wrong. Had the Curiosity Rover come earlier I think it would have won easily but with Lego Cuusoo becoming more commercialized and willing to use franchises for more sales... it's chances are down IMO. -
All the reasoning against blocky lego boobs (IMO they should be more blocky than in those concepts :P) are really, really thin. Besides the one that Cuusoo doesn't like new molds and the fact that most people don't care and the unisex molds are working fine. Seriously, they're boobs. There's nothing inappropriate about them no matter what you say. Yes, Lego hasn't had them except in print. Doesn't matter. Boobs are boobs. It's not like the Lego boobs would have real world boob physics or anything. IF their reasoning was "shaped boobs no" then they're wrong. But it doesn't seem to be... I think they're more against a new mold and are perfectly content with the unisex molds that rely on printing to convey boobs. Which I think is reasonable. I wouldn't mind seeing boob lego chests. But I don't think it's really necessary. I would be all for it. But I'm not going to campaign for it, and don't care if they don't. EDIT: While procrastinating on REAL work I quicky put together a mock. I think if Lego every did this, which they won't :P, the breasts would be more minifigure-ish and kind of be like small slope pieces and not rounded. Here's a quicky, too small, poorly made mockup featuring the basic shape, a random print and then Princess Leia before (bottom) and after (top). I think it looks good :P. Though I know a lot of people here are old fashioned when it comes to Lego and hate change. ;)

I'm currently going insane organizing some Yard Sale lego I haven't messed with because I didn't want to. I spend probably 5x more time organizing than I do building... and then when I build I experiment a lot which deorganizes huge amounts (as I take pieces and decide they're no good for the build, then throw them back haphazardly since I'm building). Then I've got to organize again. I do not like!

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
BrickG replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
If the new SHIELD series does well enough we might see Lego sets based off it. Coulson, whoever the new characters are, other heroes. Blablabla... might be neat. 2015 :P. -
Just found out Mega Bloks got Pokemon in Japan... geeze. Some of the sets don't look too bad. But most of the POkemon are just bricks with pokemon printed on them. :P I've often wondered how Pokemon would do with Lego but brushed it off since there's so many Pokemon and they look dumb when made with bricks. I'd of course need custom molds for each of the 600+ (700+ come October!). ;)

Yeah, dogpound looks fine when compared to his character in the show. He's just too small. But still, dogpound and fishface have yet to get anywhere near Bebop and Rocksteady. Though Fishface hasn't even gotten a proper episode yet.

The T-Rex needs to be a lego T-Rex form the dino line. At least that's what I was going to do if I ever made a Batcave. :)
-
I was thinking about making a thread very similar! But mine was just about weapon size. Compare the old Lego swords to things like the Lego katana. The old swords are practically like daggers compared to the newer weapons. Weapons have gotten bigger and bigger to the point where I'd say they're barely compatible with each other as the style is so different.

Honestly I think it's simply because there's absolutely no good lego alternative without a new mold which I'm doubting they're willing to invest in.

Anyone else think they should make these things last 6 months instead of 3? I figure again, they'll be two behind when the next one finishes... and it'll take forever to get an answer. :P -
This one is always sold out at my local stores. I want it. Then I want to replace Batman's mask with the Bunny Suit Guy's mask.

Lego nunchucks really are terrible. They need to custom mold that stuff. I kind of dislike Donnie's bo staff too...

You make it sound like a war or something. This isn't the holocaust happening and a soldier sending people to die. It's a lego set. I think the compensation is fair. But move along. There are about 1000000 worse things in the world that need fixing.

I think the Kraang is a bit too big. He's supposed to fit in the stomaches of things. Yet he's clearly much too big in his "minifigure" form.

I want Scarecrow darn it and not for $20-30 individually. :( I can live without the Penguin.
