Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
BrickG replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
Next you'll say you've never seen Star Wars... HOW DO PEOPLE LIKE YOU LIVE!? *rolls into a corner and cries* -
Though for some reason I have no nostalgia for Ghostbusters (odd considering my age :P) I'm pretty sure this will really click with plenty of people. In fact it seems to be up to a great start.

You can easily use existing stuff to make a 100% legit Doc Brown and Marty. The custom pieces in the project will likely have been completely ignored. Link would suck if you used existing molds.
-
Ashoka's second lightsaber is a yellow/green shorter one... wish they didn't go lazy and just give her two green ones.
-
Right now they're allowed but seemingly just won't happen. So basically Lego is letting them go to the review stage just for show which IMO is the worse option. I think they should just say "NO NEW MOLDS" and immediately kill reviews for ones with new molds if that's how they really feel.

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
BrickG replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm 99.9999% sure the license includes the DeLorean. There are other Back to the Future toys that clearly call it a DeLerean. I don't think that would ever be an issue. -
The Legend of Zelda Project finally reaches 10,000 supporters
BrickG replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Like in the other thread I disagree. My interest goes from 100% to 0% the second minifigures aren't in there for Zelda sets. As a minifigure guy I love minifigures. I've bought some sets that didn't have any, but for Zelda I would practically demand they be included. I buy franchises for the minifigures honestly (as often they have sucky builds). I've got a bookcase not filled with books but the marvel, dc, star wars, ninja turtles and a few other franchise minifigures. I buy "awesome builds" outside of franchises. Like the Space Shuttle and if the Curiosity Rover wins I'll probably buy that. I just feel franchises in my opinion :P require minifigures so they can all stand by my other franchises! I can't match up heroica or a built master sword with my minifigure d00ds! They wouldn't match. ;) So long story short. Minifigures! Minifigures! Minifigures! I think a lot of people feel the same way (in a generalized manner) as the Heroica and Master Sword modle don't seem to be gathering nearly as much interest and justly so IMO no offense. The iconic minifigure is very popular. I love the thing. I think Zelda fits minifigures perfectly. I think minecraft was an exception because making minifigures out of the main character (whose name I forget) would be really odd... -
As a minifigure guy I still wouldn't buy that. I can make a Master Sword (as well as other tools) with my current smallish collection (small compared to you guys). I'm pretty sure not having Zelda minifigures would hurt sales a lot too since there's so many minifigure people. :P

The Legend of Zelda Project finally reaches 10,000 supporters

They originally said it was unlikely and prohibitive. Now they're saying flat out it's not going to happen. Slight upgrade IMO. -
My only current problem with Cuusoo is that they absolutely refuse to do any new molds meaning Zelda has no chance. (And Heroica sucks so don't bother)

http://lego.cuusoo.c...deas/view/32525 This OTHER Zelda project is starting to shoot up after places like Kotaku made stories on it. So once the second Zelda project is declined this third one should help make it more clear to Lego that THEY HAVE NO CHOICE IN THE MATTER! However, unlike their first words on the matter where they didn't say it was impossible to make new elements for a Cuusoo project (just said they didn't want to) at this point they're saying... "While we cannot create new specific LEGO elements within the operational framework of LEGO CUUSOO, we will consider this concept in earnest in the Spring 2013 LEGO Review period." I think that KILLS any Zelda 100% sadly. Now matter how many Zelda projects pass, they now say they CANNOT make new specific LEGO elements. And since Zelda's would be so specialized it's just... not happening... :( -
Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
BrickG replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Anyone have a picture of the Clark Kent/Superman exclusive Minifigure that's going to come with the Lego Superman Batman movie? I hope he's like, opening his Clark suit and showing the S. -
The only ones I'd consider rare are limited runs like the comic-con ones. Then other "ultra rare" ones that are BARELY given out. Then unique ones that Lego doesn't even give out but apparently made at least one of (George Lucas!). Then uncommon (commoner than rare) ones that are often pre-order bonuses or awards from Lego (think Lex for the Lego Batman 2 pre-order and the Hulk minifigure that was on the site some time back). Everything else, everything in normal sets, even exclusives IMO are common.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
BrickG replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I've been watching this lately. I'm like 1 episode away from being caught up. My thoughts on the series as a whole (from a 27 year old who's favorite movies are the originals and who doesn't like but doesn't hate the prequels): It's got some gems hidden in a lot of "meh" and plain crap. After Season 2 I'd say is when some episodes start actually getting good. But you're still seeing bad episodes all the time. Annoying characters are everywhere. Some of the story arcs (and there's a lot) just suck which often means this set of 3-4 episodes sucks. Some of it is great. Specifically when they actually show interesting character driven stuff and not those on-off characters. Like recently there was that set of episodes with the droids and the exploding captured ship. I'm pretty sure that tiny character and the talking droid are so annoying they'd drive most adults insane. Then so many of the plots are so elementary it's ridiculous. At one point they literally explain the definition of corruption... Half the episodes have plots so simple and stupified I can clearly see why a lot of adults don't find this show appealing. Another thing that bothers me is if this such a galactic war why is every planet summed down to a single village of like a few dozen and if they solve THAT problem they solve the WHOLE PLANET'S PROBLEMS... And the predictable stupidity at times is overwhelmingly stupid. Like the episode where they deal with of course, small "simple" and "tribal" people. Then the next episode when R2 and 3P0 go to another planet, I figured "hey, what's the stupidest thing they can do now? I know, make them run into an EVEN SMALLER tribe-like people!" and BAM, it happened. Man... I'm tired so I won't go on that long. There's just a lot of bad things I can say about this show. I enjoy about 15% of the episodes :P and usually watch the ones that aren't interesting me in the background while I work. I'd compare this show to another CGI show which IMO is much MUCH better made, that being Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the new one of course). The new TMNT's episodes are usually of at least decent quality, and there's a LOT more for old people to enjoy and it doesn't talk down to the viewers as if they're morons (except for one of the earlier episodes). I'm not saying it's bad. It's just so... stupified so often... The episodes I tend to enjoy are ones that show more humanity and actually give character to the boring monks. Ashoka is a good character. Obiwan is good when he's not a boring monk and shows emotion. Anakin is good. R2 is good :P. There are several story arcs I enjoyed a lot, like the one where they went to the Dark Side/Light Side world. Though I kind of wish Anakin didn't have his memory erased (and maybe it could have been more motivation as to WHY he went to the Dark Side, but they erased it...). I enjoyed the one with the Doctor and the kids getting their crystals. I enjoyed many of the later Ventress ones where they showed her character develop. I'm enjoying the current Ashoka centered one... It's just... so many episodes... SUCK. Oh god do they SUCK. Well, at least for Star Wars and there's plenty worse in Entertainment. :P I can say though it seems to get better over time. I was severely underwhelmed by season 1. Season 2 did just about the same. Season 3 started getting better episodes. Season 4 better. Season 5 probably has most of the stories I like. -
What I hope we don't get: Micheal Bay Ninja Turtles movie sets... For the love of God, this terrible person is going to ruin the franchise with another mindlessly stupid movie. Ninja Turtles aliens... Megan Fox as April O'neill... every single horrible move he's ever made.... I don't care if they're financially successful they're just terrible and I hate Micheal Bay as a PERSON . The movie probably won't be out until like 2015 but still... It's 100% guaranteed to be a terrible movie. I hope they stick with the new Nick CGI series.

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
BrickG replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
They've announced it's coming. I don't think the licence at this point is an issue... the project would have died and/or they wouldn't have announced it if it they didn't have those kinds of things sorted out. -
Looks very good but I tend to like my things minifigure scale. Not to be negative but it's just usually required for me. I'm a minifigure guy. This thing has an unusually tiny R2D2 in it and my Luke would be dwarfed. Great looking but again, gotta have me some minifigure scale.
-
Assuming you're saying "why?" to "it would be a lot better if those were footsoldiers"... Isn't it obvious? A huge amount of Mikeys and Raphs... I see no point. I mean, I could use TWO at once if I really racked my brain. But an army? Footies are generic like Stormtroopers and there's always room for more as opposed to say, having an army of Luke Skywalkers.

Oooh a museum... hadn't thought of that... a good way to be able to show off a lot of different types of Lego stuff without worrying about it clashing. :)
-
I don't mind the prices because there's no ridiculous $160 sets or anything. I usually prefer it when I can actually afford all the sets.
-
They seem to aim to discontinue them right when I want to buy them. I'm pretty sure Lego is spying on me in order to discontinue the sets at the worst possible moment, at which point they skyrocket in price most of the time.
-
Harry Potter doesn't seem to have the staying power of stuff like Star Wars. I'm not sure how viable it is to sell it now that the movies are done.

I'd be a bit disappointed if Link's hair was only printed. His hair classically sticks out quite a lot as his hat rests more towards the backish of his head leaving the bangs flowing up and out. EDIT: Gosh darn it... this picture is making me desperate for Zelda Lego sets... I feel like I'm in a Golden Age honestly. I've gotten more Super Heroes characters than ever, even TMNT sets! Back to the Future... yeees... Zelda... would make everything perfect. Too many unique molds! -
MOC - The Hall of Justice with Super Friends!
BrickG replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Makes me think of how much we need more heroes. Seeing Aquaman standing by the "Holy Trinity" of DC heroes just looks out of place. Like he's trying to be as important as them. But he's not. He kind of sucks. Stick in the Flash, Green Lanturn, Hawkguy/girl, anyone else (calling you out Lego)! Until then it's the Super Friends + the 4th wheel nobody wants ;).
