  1. Hello Ralf, It would be with big pleasure to see your big classic Town. I've been following and admirating its expansions for several years, so it would very great to see it in reality! Hello Dirk, I will try to register on 1000steine this weekend, it's in my to-do list for a while. Many thanks for the meetings dates, I have courses on Saturday 15th, so I won't be able to join. However, I will consider the 14th December, I will notice you in some weeks to be sure.
  2. I think you should ask Reza, he knows a lot about 12V train boxes and their evolutions, especially about trays.
  3. Hello guys, Thank you a lot for your links! I'm almost installed, so I think I will participate to the restaurant held on 12th October in Oberhausen. I'm already making a calendar with all events I plan on attending.
  4. Thanks for putting back pictures! Aren't the LEDs too bright compared to the original bulb? I've recently bought PF LEDs, and I find the light way too bright compared to my 12V and 9V lights. Anyway, I will try to find such light bulbs to revive and upgrade my broken 4,5V light bricks!
  5. Hello, I will come in Germany for a university year at the end of September, and I am wondering what are the main activities AFOLs do in Germany, particulary in Düsseldorf and Nordrhein-Westfalen, where I will study. What are the main and most interesting exhibitions to visit? Are there meetings to see other German AFOLs? I couldn't find a comprehensive list of German exhibitions of 2019 and 2020. As a fan of 80's and vintage Lego, I've always considered Germany as "the" country to go to expand my collection and to see great Lego train layouts. I've seen so many impressive layouts and MOCs from German train fans, it's crazy compared to what is Lego train hobby in France. Also, I like visiting yard sales in France to buy used Lego, so is it a popular way of selling toys there? Are there websites where people sells their used things where I can make good deals? Are there "good adresses" of used lego shops, local BL shops or Lego museums that I could visit during my stay?
  6. Sorry to bump this topic, but pictures are no longer there. Is it possible to reupload them? I have two yellow 4,5V light bricks that are not working anymore, and I don't want to ruin these. I even think about upgrading these to 12V. Is there any difference in manipulmation between the clear lens and the diffuser lens?
  7. Ceilling is something to take into account when having a Lego-room. I have a 2 meters high one which is very low. However, my room is 17 meters square that I have to share between my bedroom and my Lego-room. It wasn't a problem with a small collection, but since two years, it's becoming to be difficult to handle. My room is looking full, boxes are the highest possible on top of furnitures. I didn't anticipate this problem, but with such a large collection today I would have choosen an higher room.
  8. I don't know any database that would contain such things, but I did find one (in France too!) with the 1994 McDonald's promo polybags, it's also an hanging ad with three floors. I can't say you anything about how these were used in toyshops in the 90's, I'm too young... Only thing i'm sure is that shops had to have an high ceilling to display that! Yours are really nice and well conserved!
  9. Nice to see you here, Peter! Did you have time to build more since last time? Your creations are so nice, as usual! These windmills are really good for a train layout.
  10. Interesting repaint! Usually, blue color with white stripes was reserved to diesel locomotives. For such an electric "nez cassé", the "béton" livery would be more suitable, it's mainly Lt Gray, with Dk Gray accents and orange stripes. The original prototype model was still much better than the released set, it's a good thing to see it again.
  11. There is one sure thing, it's that the logo is the 1973-98 one. I've already seen such a plastic bag some years ago, white, but narrower, without the plain white parts. I couldn't get it as it was already sold. It was in France, and I asked myself the same question. I think that the Lego World Tour may have had such bags, but I don't know anything on where this exhibition stopped in the 80's. Another possibility may be that it comes from a Legoland park. Lastly, it may be a promotionnal merchandise that was given to toy stores, to promote the Lego brand.
  12. Excellent truck, it reminds me the one Pierre Normandin made in 2002. Finding enough Old Brown parts is difficult and expensive, so you had a great challenge, especially considering you used quite nice HTF parts. :) I also like more these wheels compared to the "fat" 1991 ones, it makes the vehicles less toy-ish. You're just missing the 1x3x1 doors, these are still availlable on BL, it would look quite nice on this truck. I hope to see more of your creations!
  13. That's a good update, you kept the charm and the shapes of the truck, even with modern parts. Good job!
  14. It's more and more rare to see people building in Classic Town style nowadays, so it's good to see that! Good catch you made back then. These trucks are out of my budget right now, I prefer gathering many parts (especially green and old grays) to build my creations and scenes to put these, and sometime buying a set to complete my collection, when it's a good deal. Making stickers is very long, I also makes my own stickers, I began in 2015 to save on reproductions ones thart are expensive, and don't give the flexibility I want. I have more than 400 patterns now, from 80's sets to custom 80's looking torsos. All I miss are transparent stickers... I'm still an amateur... :)
  15. It's a aestetically pleasing solution for display, this pneumatic cylinder. I didn't know this Logo, never noticed it in France. :) You made a very good work catching the main features of the original truck.
  16. I've not published it yet, I will see if I've time this week-end. I also made one as if it was made in 1985 here. I like building buses in Classic Town style, there is always a lot of challenges. In the ones I've linked, I can't put minifigures entirely, I have to remove the legs and change the torso for a 1975 one, because I didn't like the effect of 1x4x3 panels. Although, on the 90's one I've not shown yet, I used the 1x4x3 panels, that allows placing minifigures with their arms correctly placed. That's all the charm of building in 4w! :)
  17. That long-nosed truck is very good! There is a bit too much chrome to my taste, but clever build, with all eras of Maersk blue parts. Are the stickers from an original 1980 or 1985 Maersk truck or a reproduction?
  18. I love that color scheme! Green and Dk.Gray is always good looking on a truck. You made a lot of efforts to keep as much old dark gray as the parts allowed you to do so. How is the tipper raising mechanism working? It looks like a Technic pneumatic part. I love your sticker too, this logo is rather intemporal for a truck company.
  19. Really nice model, it's very rare to see 4 wide Classic Town buses. I like the way you incorporated an opening front door, it gives another feel to the vehicle. These two windscreens are very good for coaches, I made one with such windscreen in a 90's style.
  20. I'm in the same case as you, Graupensuppe, and your observations are shared by some of my friends. The bad quality stickers were made from the mid-90's to mid 10's. I can't say that much about more recent sets, as I don't buy these very often, but the few stickers I placed seems to hold for now. I've 6562 from 1995 (bought used) that have destroyed stickers, on the sign as on the truck. The same type of sticker paper was used in my childhood sets (2003-2010), and all my World City sets have destroyed stickers, many of my 7237-2 Police Station and 2005 wave are destroyed (since at least 5 years), and 2010 sets too have had a lot of damage (campervan, Octan fuel truck). And I don't even speak about my 2007 Cement mixer that is made of "brittle blue" color, that is cracked from everywhere... First, the sticker hardens, then the white part lifts, then it cracks, and some time after, the color is cracking too. It mainly happens on stickers that have white edges, or in white (unprinted) spaces of the sticker, and it's slowy destroying its rest. My childhood sets were stored on my layout, so these were exposed to air and dust, but not a lot of sun. It did appear only on white stickerpaper. The problem with transparent stickers and the new white paper they made since the mid 2010's is that these can't be removed to be replaced, because the glue stays on the Lego part, and sticker is dead... I had to reorder a sheet because I had to replace correctly stickers on a 2018 set... I already advised Lego something like three years ago, and they couldn't do anything for me at all. All they purposed me was that, when I buy a new Lego set, I call customer service for them to send me an extra stickersheet. But my 10-15 years old are in bad shape because of this. I asked them if they could send me modern stickers to replace and modernze my sets, because there was no solution, and they refused... They don't want to understand that I have some 30-40 years stickers that are in better shape than their more recent stickers. The transparent sticker paper used in the 80s seems to me the best one: it's possible to replace these (with a lot of precautions) and these don't destroy with time.
  21. Welcome here, Timelapser! It's very good to see a team of people so involved in such a reviving of Lego Island. I hope you will have a great success making this video game. I love your updated Peeper! It looks promising! I hope there will be easter eggs to Lego Loco and Legoland video games, and some classic 90's sets featured in this game! I've a project of rebuilding a Lego Island, with combined structures of the two first PC games, and the GBA game, but it's a long-term project. I've made LDD files of most of bthe buildings for me to have a part list.
  22. Of course it's not a monorail, as isn't the Lego monorail system from 1986-94, it's a language abuse. Besides that, it's a good thing to see many light-rail shuttle-type transport systems revive with these rollercoaster parts, it's an easier system to start, and later enter in the brick-built (real) monorails.
  23. This is a very good inspiration for MODing the Bricklink monorail Skyline Express! I'm now more tempted to get it.
  24. Excellent construction site! I think it's the best I've seen yet. You managed to get the structure very well with a modern shape. How did you link that 4x4 "open cone" part to macaronis on the mixer? As a Classic Town builder, I made one in 90's style, but I used another method some years ago.
  25. Hello Grrr, This service station is indeed one of the few prototypes that Lego made appear on their catalogs. This set was never released, and was basedcon our European 6371 set. Another famous case is the 1979 hospital, that was shown on US layouts from catalogs and roadplates packaging, but was never released.
