No. I'm a bit perplexed by four different colour varieties of raptor (adding to two that already exist). That seems a little too much variety, and some of the colour choices look odd. Maybe they are prototypes. Am surprised to see the Coelophysis mold get reused, as it's a rather lame dino. With only the DRex getting new moulds so far, and the existing Triceratops & Pteranodon likely to be reused if there are sets from the first three movies, I wonder what the chances are for new molds & new dinos?

Perhaps the reason that we didn't get a 'classic' Plastic Man is so he can appear in classic guise in a future set, much like how they did with Martian Manhunter. By the way the use of the word 'pants' in relation to Wonder Woman's attire does get a bit confusing between American and UK English usage ;)

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
williejm replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
No, we've not had a sheriff in CMF before. I think the thing in the palaeontologist's other hand is a magnifying glass. -
I think they've done a good job with Green Arrow. True to New 52 version but easily modified (hair, hood, arms) for anyone who wants to.

Just speculation, but since the plot in the original film allowed the frog DNA to manifest itself in the dinos giving birth, then I'd assume there's a specific reason for the 'part cuttlefish' idea. From what we know of cuttlefish it seems most likely this is to do with giving it some colour change or camouflage ability.

Sainsburys offers are pretty variable and stock-dependent. But good luck! I would certainly not say that the Simpsons minifigure series has been gathering dust anywhere I've seen...

Sets wise, I think you could easily have a set or two based on the school - allows for Principal Skinner, Mrs Krabapel, Groundskeeper Willie, Martin Prince, Sherri/Terri and/or some rehashes of the kids we already have. Krusty burger, Comic book shop, Kwik E Mart & Moes could be separate sets or amalgamated to a bigger 'Springfield' set in some combination. Then there's Bart's treehouse. Other most notable location would be the power station, with perhaps a small set of the control room.

In which case, maybe the Hulk fighting superman is a placeholder for another character too?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
williejm replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Personally I think it would be a good move to have CMF in pink or purple packaging. God knows we need to break down some of the preconceptions of colour/gender, and since this is a repeated 'issue' around Lego at the moment - why not? I think it would be about the quality if the images on the package (and to an extent which figures are featured) as to how well it would work. But that's a design challenge, not an issue of background colour.- 1,109 replies

Yep noticed a few decent mark downs in my local Sainsbury's too. 25%, 1/3 & 50% off various sets. Ranged across Duplo, Friends, Agents, Star Wars, Superheroes, City, Juniors & Creator. But was only on certain sets. I picked up Aquaman on Ice, Juniors Fire Station & Duplo numbers train all on half price, but there were several other sets on that mark down.

Hmmm ... I'm assuming the females in the Arctic sets might be wearing more layers, yet they still get the curves ;)

Should LEGO cut ties with Shell?

... And in fact Lego /not/ making their Arctic play sets about oil drilling (though they have drills) is a studiously 'political' business move.- 214 replies

Cornwall beaches where the tide brings in Lego
williejm replied to williejm's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's a bit more complex than that. Some bigger plastic traps, injures or kills bigger sealife (birds, turtles, whales etc) or is eaten by it, or used to make nests. Smaller bits tend to get eaten, or fed to young... Google 'albatross plastic' for some gruesome images. There's lots of different sized critters in the ocean, so even the smallest bits of plastic can get ingested by accident, and tend to get stuck in animals' digestive tracts which can cause problems or even death. Increasingly small bits of plastic have been showing up in fish caught for human consumption, so it's a food chain issue too...- 18 replies

This is an interesting story about the Lego from a container knocked off a cargo ship in 1997, still routinely washing up on Cornish beaches. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-28367198 I've conflicting thoughts on this, it's amazing what good condition it seems to be in, also kinda fun that so much of it is ocean/pirate themed ... but plastic trash in our oceans is a big deal and not going away anytime soon.To that end I'm glad that Lego is a much 'better quality' toy, and not part of the throwaway culture we have. Not that that stops freak waves, obviously.

Should LEGO cut ties with Shell?
williejm replied to legoman19892's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Sure, if it helps underline your position on this and lets us file your comments accordingly. Lego don't make Exxon branded products anymore. They do have a partnership with Shell. That's Shell who are dead keen on drilling in the Arctic, and not strangers to a few screw-ups along the way. Does that partnership fit with Lego's stated ethos? I don't think so. But it would be nice not to need to have an oil spill in the Arctic to prove the point.- 214 replies

Nah, it's that people on internet message boards *love* to be contrary & condescending whenever possible. For what it's worth I pretty much totally agree with your take on this, it's the gratuitousness that annoying, and it's on torsos not faces that it's an issue. Where I would take issue is that women have better eyelashes than men. ;)

This article raises a lot of concerns I have with female minifigure representation. Yay @ more females, Boo@ too much narrow manifestation of gender specificity http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/07/16/lego-female-scientists-waistlines_n_5590560.html It's a play issue as much as it is a representation one, in that 'femaled' hourglass torsos have a more limited use, but it's also about what makes it female. Old cartoons suggest blush cheeks, big eyelashes and a bow in the hair made any character female. Even Chima figures which are anthropomorphised animals have 'hourglass' figures for females, the Collectable Minifig Alien Queen had lipstick to go with her see-through head, and don't even get me started on the 'Lady Robot' and her breast dials...

the Greenpeace campaign is calling for an end to the *existing* and *current* partnership between Lego and Shell, and Shell's unsuitability as a partner ... it's not about Shell-branded stable doors from yesteryear, or what the ingredients of the bricks are.- 214 replies
