I’m old enough to remember when the lobster was simultaneously in a City set & a TLBM CMF though, and somehow deemed a licensed piece. So consider me cynical… 🫠

So close but no cigar. Also tourists need to stop thinking the Highlands is a petting zoo. I might start some protest at this set being wildly inappropriate 🤪

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
williejm replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
How are you measuring successful? If you mean in straight sales terms - I think so, I certainly didn’t notice them hanging around on shelves that long. Or do you mean in a wider sense, as to what DC/Marvel fans wanted? On that one I think it’s always going to be more subjective, and we saw some ‘interesting’ inclusions, especially in relation to Marvel TV shows that might seem a bit ‘meh’ in retrospect. Interestingly - to me - probably some of the best comic book characters that were delivered in CMFs came in the Lego Batman series. Characters like Black Canary, General Zod, Jor-El, Red Hood, King Tut -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours

I think, if they revisit Disney, Marvel or DC, it’d be nice to see them do it somehow differently. As I’ve said before I think themed series would be interesting - such as the X-Men or maybe DC Villains. With Disney I’d love to see them do a deep dive into specific films / worlds - like a whole Encanto or Toy Story series for example -
But the difference is so little as to be pretty pointless: why not just use the ‘normal’ eye? unless I missed some LOTR lore about Shadowfax’s eyelashes …

The eye design is so, so, so, so infinitesimally different from the Marvel horse, that you really have to wonder why.

There are three ‘January birds’ - white pigeon - European robin - European nuthatch in addition a variant of the nuthatch with no chest printing is coming in a Lunar New Year set. For some reason that variant is also available on B&P as of today. so that makes four.

Nice to see all the new birds come in at the same price as existing small birds/pigeons. Makes a change lately to get new animal parts on B&P and *not* feel like Lego is fleecing us and taking the brick.

TBH I would love a crowd-pleasing Marvel series, especially if it had a few more X-men -

Fair. I agree a series full of retro remakes is the least likely of all. AFOLs like to think they’re the audience that counts, but it still needs general shelf appeal for tiny people. -

My preference is always for a classic series, which is generous on both animals & historic/fantasy type figures. I think it’s ’too soon’ for a themed ‘normal‘ series after Space & Animals, so I’d assume a classic series would just have a throwback figure or two. On licensed series - I wouldn’t be surprised if Simpsons came back as CMFs next year, but my preference would be either series 2 of Muppets or Sesame Street. That said, I think the chances of any of those straight after the Shrek series seem less. On balance then, my prediction is a ‘classic’ normal series with a couple of throwback figures to celebrate s30. -
Are nuthatches sexually dimorphic? I didn’t think they were. Another plausibility is that it’s another species without the chest colour - perhaps a shrike as @Roebuck suggested way back wham

Sames Yeah it’s a ‘patronus’ in their lore, like a magical projection. All the moulds that started as patronuses (trans blue colour) have eventually been made into ‘real’ animals. Now some that started as real animals have been used as patronuses too. So yes, they can. How long that might take to happen is anyone’s guess. The new dog mould is a jack russell terrier

It’s the flying great grey owl, all over again. (though I can see it’s more logical as it’s a specific IP character: there’s zero excuse with an actual species)

I can’t see the Scar image. Agree that the Tram set is visually a really nice set, even aside from the animal additions! And yes, the seal in brown is much better than the light grey one.

It’s slightly different in the image, missing the orange chest printing. However we should probably assume that’s just a render issue & it’s just a straight reuse.

One difference is that ‘fawn’ is understood to be a young deer, whereas ‘calf’ will always need identified by the type of animal (as cows, whales, elephants etc all have young referred to as that). So people might use ‘fawn’ specifically (in English) for brevity & specificity.

‘Calf’ for reindeer / caribou. Fawn tends to be reserved for smaller and more foresty deer species, though in some it’s interchangeable. I’m sure it also varies by language/ translation
