    I mean, that’s nice, but I have limited use for endless ice sculpture exhibitions in my Lego world! trying to remember - has Lego ever used normal animals as ‘ice sculptures’ in sets? I know they used the Friends Penguin in a lunar new year set (to me a weird choice since it was a dual moulded piece)

    Likewise gender swaps like the ‘lady robot’. I think, probably, describing CMFs as specifically ‘evil’, has been consigned to history, in the same way that, for example, Native American and ‘Islander’ archetypes have been.

    Just the coming Jack Russell Terrier, Doe & Lynx which only appear as patronuses and not ‘normal’ animals yet. We also have a couple (Wolf, cat…) which have gone the other way, from normal to patronus.

    Well my point is that they include now smaller versions of dogs & cats, and we accept it as normal. Also not massively sure that a series of global restaurants, as GWP for £££arge purchases is really ‘aimed at children’ 🤷🏽‍♂️

    IIRC there’s a scene where Draco is turned into a weasel/ stoat in one movie too. I’d honestly have expected the mould to come from that scene.

    Indeed. A cynic might however look at the most recent dog mould introduced in that IP, the mastiff, which seems stubbornly stuck as an example of what might happen. YES! and since the last two were both dogs, maybe the next two can be cats - the lynx & recoloured tiger s a snow leopard would be nice. It would make sense for a raven with the knight - but I’m trying not to be too optimistic! Re the magpie - it’s an interesting note on the defacto bias towards European & Northern hemisphere species - as any Australian will attest that their ‘magpies’ are indeed more raven-like in build and bulk. The rubber duckie cop-out sucks. Be grateful for your crumbs! Weasel, boar and swan would be great - the latter two are at this stage inexplicable in their continued Lego absence.

    Hare is up to three City sets, and otter two - but yes points still stand. We will now have the doe, lynx & Jack Russell terrier waiting for solid bodies, to add to the Dreamzz raven Sadly I think the mouse is in the same category as the flamingo and toucan - too intricate a mould to see reproduced in normal sets. Seems counterintuitive - but there we are. Toucan is a triple mould plus printing, mouse and flamingo both dual moulded also have flexible and standard material. Can only shudder to think how they would be priced on B&P1 The rat, though inexplicably not recoloured out of DnD CMF, is definitely the cheaper option. We must surely be scraping the patronus barrel by now. Though I’m surprised that licence hasn’t produced a weasel yet.

    An optimist might point out that both the doe & lynx could plausibly be used in a forest or ‘arctic’ theme or sub theme. But also we may wait a while …

    I hear your weak defence and would counter that 1) not everyone is an urban dweller 2) different parts of the world have different ‘common’ animals, which might be seen in urban settings (raccoons, foxes, monkeys, cockatoos) 3) Lego has zero logic when it comes to which animals are or aren’t produced, not which are or aren’t ‘rare’ in Lego terms Personally I see three different owl species in my local area (albeit infrequently) I think the lack of snowy owls in any Arctic sets highlights the IP problem. Also, all Lego ‘normal’ owls are unique, there is no duplicated print or colour reuse per mould even. It’s an extraordinary level of creating unique animals and making them rare & IP locked. And YES PLEASE for more owls in Spooky sets, though I guess they may just trot out the OG brown one.

    100% this. The amount of non IP owls is shocking given how many generic or species versions exist in the IP. IIRC the only ones not licensed are the tan flying owl from BAM, the dark tan smowl in Friends, and the winking tan owl from City. The OG brown owl also straddles across the licensed and standard sets, weirdly. A whopping 11 owl variants exist *only* in licensed sets / CMFs.

    While I think the most likely is either a Klingon Bird of Prey, or a Borg Cube - I wouldn’t be surprised if they did something totally different to either a ship or a bridge playset. We’ve seen this before with licensed themes, and they’re as likely to do an ‘art’ piece or a buildable Star Trek logo as another ship. Something I’ve never understood about Lego and its licences, is why they don’t lean more into the collectable side, especially since nerds love it. In another reality we would already have several ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Doctor Who’ CMF series, and collectors would geek out over each variant print, or obscure character inclusion. At the very least, the kinda model they did with Simpsons where CMF & large sets complemented each other seems to make sense to me. 🤷🏽‍♂️

    Hard agree. Seeing the Mystique & Nightcrawler figures being so *lacking* just makes me yearn for a CMF series based on comic book X-men / X -men 97 instead

    I was working on two provisos 1) Lego throwing random animals into City sets & 2) that the G in LGBTQ+ stands for ‘Giraffe’

    Personally I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that the ‘Fire, Police, Construction Parade Float’ is actually a Village People themed Gay Pride Float, and comes with a giraffe.
