  1. My preference is always for a classic series, which is generous on both animals & historic/fantasy type figures. I think it’s ’too soon’ for a themed ‘normal‘ series after Space & Animals, so I’d assume a classic series would just have a throwback figure or two. On licensed series - I wouldn’t be surprised if Simpsons came back as CMFs next year, but my preference would be either series 2 of Muppets or Sesame Street. That said, I think the chances of any of those straight after the Shrek series seem less. On balance then, my prediction is a ‘classic’ normal series with a couple of throwback figures to celebrate s30.
  2. Are nuthatches sexually dimorphic? I didn’t think they were. Another plausibility is that it’s another species without the chest colour - perhaps a shrike as @Roebuck suggested way back wham
  3. Yeah it turns out the nuthatch comes in two varieties - who knew?!
  4. Your winter village sounds mighty *fancy*
  5. Sames Yeah it’s a ‘patronus’ in their lore, like a magical projection. All the moulds that started as patronuses (trans blue colour) have eventually been made into ‘real’ animals. Now some that started as real animals have been used as patronuses too. So yes, they can. How long that might take to happen is anyone’s guess. The new dog mould is a jack russell terrier
  6. It’s the flying great grey owl, all over again. (though I can see it’s more logical as it’s a specific IP character: there’s zero excuse with an actual species)
  7. Yeah I share this fear.
  8. I can’t see the Scar image. Agree that the Tram set is visually a really nice set, even aside from the animal additions! And yes, the seal in brown is much better than the light grey one.
  9. It’s slightly different in the image, missing the orange chest printing. However we should probably assume that’s just a render issue & it’s just a straight reuse.
  10. Agree the flying phoenix looks excellent 🐦‍🔥
  11. One difference is that ‘fawn’ is understood to be a young deer, whereas ‘calf’ will always need identified by the type of animal (as cows, whales, elephants etc all have young referred to as that). So people might use ‘fawn’ specifically (in English) for brevity & specificity.
  12. ‘Calf’ for reindeer / caribou. Fawn tends to be reserved for smaller and more foresty deer species, though in some it’s interchangeable. I’m sure it also varies by language/ translation
  13. Er no I don’t think it really could stand in for any real life canids
  14. This one is pretty out there, but I have to admit I kind of love it (as some sort of fantasy beastie).
  15. Christmas movies and media have so bastardised ‘reindeer’ that the average person’s perception is really skewed. I do think though that putting antlers on any supposed ‘baby’ deer is either wrong or just unnecessary, and limits usefulness. We can have another conversation another day about the physical differences between deer species … but seeing as the ‘standard’ Lego big cat mould covers several species, and the bear covers three, of wildly varying sizes* and proportions, maybe that ship has long sailed. (*See also owls)
  16. I do hope so. I’m confused by the route they’ve taken with the ‘fawn/calf’ mould and wonder if there’s some idea to try and make it multipurpose as either a small deer or a ‘baby “reindeer”’ The doe mould, by comparison looks very ‘normal’.
  17. Has anyone checked on @roebuck ? He may have spontaneously combusted
  18. They could recolour the existing mastiff mould for this quite well, I think
  19. My bet is on the robin being ridiculously priced, as they know it will be in demand.
  20. One of the things with ‘fantasy’ creatures is that they can be pretty variable, depending on the source material. Unicorns for example are in some cases basically ‘a horse + horn’, whereas in others they’re smaller and more goat-like, even with cloven hooves. I don’t recall unicorns featuring much in HP - other than I think a dead one in the forest. Maybe in the Lego fantasy realm the unicorn ‘foal’ and indeed the Pegasus ‘foals’ are representing normal/ adult animals. Junior -ized, sure, but totally in keeping with the My Little Pony world, for example.
  21. Seal (recolour) 2 small birds (european Robin & nuthatch) clownfish, sitting cat in CMF (new moulds) Recolour of the long haired cat as ‘Mrs Norris’ in petrified state in HP (2 new colours of the unicorn foal)
  22. It’s cute. I was worried the patches were some sort of metallic, with rivets. But it’s totally fine as a ‘normal’ pig variant, from these better pics.
  23. What sort of dodgy bartering is that?
  24. Yeah I have to say that ‘Today Me’ is very glad that ‘Back Then Me’ sought out a bunch of wolves, *and* did some swaps for folks who wanted more of the figures (so I got more wolves). Assuming they’d be available on PaB would have been a big mistake, HUGE. And you’re totally right, some animals you need a bunch of (sheep, wolves, penguins, squirrels) whereas some you really don’t (red panda, koala, skunk)
  25. Yeah - you’ve lost me there, buddy
