  1. Looking nice! keep on the good work.
  2. Nice MODS! I recently ordered one of those trains just to keep the Power Functions parts for a MOC I just finished. I find the set rather dull, but your MOD cars certainly make it look better!
  3. Wow! It reminds me of how reluctant I get when it is time to open boxes I bought 1-2 years ago, knowing the price of those boxes has sometimes more than doubled in the meantime... To avoid this, I will try to build the sets I buy ASAP in the future... Oh, that shed, I felle sorry I missed it...now that it is out of price.
  4. I am currently building the UCS Slave I, and I agree that it is one of the best UCS sets so far, and one of my favorites!
  5. Images please?
  6. Here is another picture I found of my CN engine based on the maersk model. You can see it from the rear. Aside from the colors, I believe I followed step by step the original instructions of the Maersk train:
  7. I finally received all the parts I had ordered...pics to come, soon.
  8. Here is my version of the Maersk engine, with the black, red and white colors of the Canadien National:
  9. That radar looks good...That Falcon, though, looks like a piece of junk!
  10. Fom my experince with this build last year, 90% of the parts cost me 10% of the price, while the remaining 10% of the parts cost me 90% of the total price. Of course, you can build the 10179 for a good price if you dont mind it being slightly different from the original (I did mind, though, but that's my problem...). I plan to dust off my MF soon and I plan to upgrade those not so good looking LBG ladders used as reactors that I got for a hefty price. I have seen in here WAY better looking alternatives for the reactors, using trans blue tiles I believe.
  11. I will. And my plan is to start with the head anyway, since it seems to be a nice display piece by itself, and it might take some time before the whole build is finished...
  12. Oh my! I can feel the mood of Dathomir by looking at your MOC. Congratulations! How about some shots under different lighting to emphasis that mood? light is everything...
  13. I'm finished with bricklink orders. I placed a total of 9 orders, 3 of them ranging from 160 to 850 parts, and 6 smaller ones ranging from 4 to 90 parts. total parts ordered: 1640 (plus 4460 I already had): Total cost for the parts ordered: 470$ CAN (0.29$ CAN per part) Total cost for shipping: 250$ CAN (53% of the price for the parts) Total cost: 720$ CAN (0.44$ CAN per part) (580 usd or 500 euros) The price per part sems pretty hign, but a high percentage of those were rare and expensive parts. If I estimate the cost to get the parts I already had (0.12 $CAN per part, plus 25% shipping, or 0.15$ CAN per part)...the grand total would be: Total cost for 6200 parts: 1000$ CAN Total shipping cost: 400$ CAN Total cost: 1400$ CAN (1100 usd or 1000 euros) Of course price could be MUCH lower using parts substitutions or if you live in Europe, since shipping to Canada is estimated at almost 30% of the total cost. Now, waiting for the parts to arrive...
  14. I was looking for the pics when I also noticed the thread was five years old and inactive...:(
  15. Just one word: WOW!
  16. First BL order, from the Netherlands. 820 parts, 107 euros plus 33 euros for shipping (that's a lot just for shipping...) Unfortunately, it seems that all the most expensive parts I will have to order, since the 4000+ parts I already have are the more generic and frequently found ones.
  17. I plan to do the same and find some way to strenghten the legs and the inner structure when I'll be there... Now, I'm waiting for invoices to come in: I believe I'll be fine with a total of 9 orders on BL. BTW, Cavegod quickly replied to my email and send me an updated parts list. I had a quick look at it, but I plan to follow the original (older) instructions he sold me since I have already ordered the parts according to those. Unless somebody tells me the modified instructions include improved structural integrity? I don't plan to review those in details to find out the differences...
  18. Sorry if that was not clear enough... Thanks for the tip. I have already tried BrickFicincy (and another program whose name I forgot) but it seemed useless for any large scale project? I was limited to a combination of 5 stores max. when using it last week, and unless I reduced my list of parts to less than 50 different items, it never returned me any solution? probably I did something wrong then...
  19. Here are some of the more problematic/expensive parts (for me) from the original parts list: http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=32202 Need two for about 3.00USD each http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=3703 Need 18 for around 1.50USD each (a different color will do) http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=6112 Need 19 for around 1.00USD each http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=47974 Need 18 for around 0.70USD each http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=2489 Need 4, currently none is available on BL (DBG will have to do) http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=3961 Need 6 (or maybe 2 for an alternate version), urrently none is available on BL (old light gray it will be) http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=50990 Need 4 but I believe the printed version is needed for the 4 hip joints. Good thing since the unprinted is currently available from only one vendor fur about 15.00USD each... http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=3027 Need 8 for around 2.10USD each http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=41539 Need 3 for around 1.50USD each http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=30565 Need 18 for around 1.00USD each http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=30363 Need 36 for around 0.50USD each http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=3297 Need 32 but no vendor has a decent price for such a quantity. Probably 0.30USD each from 2-3 vendors http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=44126 Need 4, currently no vendor has a single one on BL. Old light gray or DBG might do for now http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=75535 Need 8, at 4.00USD and more each, but cheaper, similar alternatives exist (http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=62462) http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=4162 Need 71 at around 0.25USD each http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=6179 Need 16 for around 0.75USD each http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=6180 Need 24 for around 0.75USD each http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=6177 Need 12 (or 16) for around 1.50USD each http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=43708 Need 16, only 2 stores have enough for arond 3.00USD each. Other stores only have about 6 max http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=41770 Need 46 for around 0.40USD each http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=41769 Need 43 for around 0.40USD each http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=2695 Need 10, currently nobody sells more than 5 http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=44772 Need 3, but they sell for more than 3.00USD each http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=2573 Need 2, cheapest being around 34.00USD each...but a cheaper, not as good looking alternative seems to exist So, here I am, expecting to pay around 390USD plus shipping (I live in Canada, and from my past experience on Bricklink, average shipping cost to me - from 80+ different orders- is 25% of the bricks cost) That is 480USD, or almost 600$ in my Canadian dollars, for a little more than 400 small pieces of plastic..!!! Ouch. I will see what I can do and start ordering tonight...I plan to buy from 10-12 different stores max.
  20. Here are the 4550 pics I already have:
  21. I cant wait to try my ME plastic rails!...I had those shipped to Vermont and I live in Quebec, Canada. My package has already arrived...I have ordered straight tracks and two different radii circles.
  22. What? BTW, that modified UCS Tie looks great! And your imperial probe droid looks evev better! I will give it a try as soon as I have time!
  23. So far, out of the 6200 parts needed to build this AT-AT, I have 4550 pieces, and will need to order the 1650 missing ones. I will post more datails about that later, but many of the missing parts seem to be either expensive or unavailable...more on this later, I wont give up!
  24. Thank you for the tips! I have seen pics ot the AT-AT with the alternative wheels under it and honestly, I prefer the look of the older, more expensive version...(a good thing since I have already paid 80 of my canadian dollars for those two parts alone). I will certainly ask Cavegod to send me the updated version of his model, but will probably follow the older instructions I already have since I have already sorted and ordered most of the parts according to those. Unless the updated instructions help with the stability of the model? which seems to be its major weakness...
