  1. Sorry I missed this before. I really like builds like this that come totally from your imagination. Cool stuff.
  2. I like that they managed to work a Wilhelm scream into it.
  3. That the guy I linked up above? Tell him thanks for the bunnies. I agree. Mine look like steampunk rabbits to me lol. I have yet to see a better design for brick built rabbits that are even close to scale though than the one I linked up above.
  4. Thanks for that!
  5. I know this scene was not popular among those of us who are book fans, but I liked the idea of Radagast's Bunny sled. It seemed like a challenge and was something I wanted to try. I borrowed the basic rabbit design from http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/351564 but I wanted the rabbits to be a bit beefier. I also tries using cheese slopes to make some ears folded. Anyway, let me know what you think.
  6. You're right. Miss the boat was probably the wrong phrase to use.
  7. That's a lot more true than I originally would have guessed. My 7 year old loves Lotr and The Hobbit. We have all of the previous sets, including Orthanc. He's been really wishy washy about what he wants for Christmas and I kept telling my wife "Just wait til he sees the Hobbit...he'll want all those sets." So we took him to see it this weekend and he could care less about any of the sets. Don't get me wrong, he wants Radagast and Azog, but the first thing he asked me after the movie was "Why isn't there a Smaug set?" And "Does the Bear Guy set come with one of those bear figures?" Both are valid questions. I don't fault Lego entirely. As has been stated many times, they were probably just rolling with what they had access to PLUS the minifigs we get this wave are great. However, I think they really missed the boat by not having something related to Smaug and by not having a bear figure to go with Bejorn. All that being said, a lot of people have been screaming for an elf army building set, including me. At least we got MEA. I'm hoping we get a third wave and Lego makes up for this one.
  8. Please tell me there's a secret door on the back of the build :P Great job!
  9. A link for the lazy?
  10. Thanks for the tip. I got MEA and was going to get a second set too, but it didn't ring up the Bogo 50% deal. So I left with just MEA. Still happy to have gotten it.
  11. Online or in the store?
  12. They appearing in any other brick and mortar stores right now besides TRU in the US?
  13. So here's something I've wondered for a while. Do you AFOL parents share your Lego with your kids or do you have "yours" and "mine" collections? My six year old is just as nuts about Lego as I am and he's loves LoTR and Star Wars as much as I do. This has proven very helpful in persuading my wife that we NEED certain sets. We don't distinguish between his sets and my sets they're all just "our" sets - including mommy, if she were so inclined :D Basically, we have bins categorized of loose Lego and minifigs in his room that his cousins and friends can all play with. I also built shelves in his room where all the sets we want to keep together can go. He can play with any sets at any time, including the rarer more expansive sets, but this really only works because he likes to play with these sets as is and doesn't want to break them apart - we have all those loose bricks for doing that. This also works because he likes having these sets on display. His friends and cousins are also allowed to play with these sets too, but I ask them to "try" to keep them together and only allow those sets to be played with in certain areas of the house because inevitably some small piece will pop off and I want to have a small area to search. So I'm curious how you other AFOL parents handle this. Do you have certain things that can't be touched by your kids? Do you keep seperate collections?
  14. No biggie. After complaining about bad reviews I thought I should clarify that that was an honest question and I was not pointing out your mistake lol. Thanks for giving us a good review! Agreed. I love video reviews. I just don't have much appreciation for people who review themes they obviously don't care about. It'd be like me reviewing lipstick "well as you can see, it's a reddish color and when you twist this bottom thing, it comes up...and...then you can put it on your lips I guess."
  15. My issue with those guys is that they're all about quantity and not about quality. I chuckle when I consider how much they must spend on getting new sets from other counties just to be the first to review them. I want to see reviews by people who bought the set to own...not by people who bought the set to review. You don't have to know everything about everything, but the "brickshow" and "your creative friends" routinely throw up shoddy reviews just to be the first. I'm not going to crucify them, but I'm also not going to watch their videos so they can get more money from advertisers to make more piss poor reviews. They seem like nice enough guys but they've turned reviews into a business and not a passion. That's fine for some, but it drives me nuts. Well done and thanks. One question, on the Master of Lake-Town, you said his cape was black on the outside but it looks purple...mistake, lighting issue, or did I misunderstand?
  16. Cool. Love airships! I agree. Fantasy with a dash of steampunk has become my favorite sub genre.
  17. What a great design. As others have said, that roof and back wall are fantastic.
  18. Yup. My 6 year old has been into LotR and the Hobbit for well over a year. He (meaning he and I) have all the sets, except Orthanc. I read the Hobbit to him, but not the LotR books. He's seen all the movies a ton of times. In fact, his birthday a few months back was a Hobbit party.
  19. Not sure if anyone else has seen them at a physical Target store, but I went to two Targets in the Omaha, NE area and both had spots for the new sets with price tags but both were empty. Not sure if they BOTH sold out or if they were just marking places.
  20. Hmm I've never noticed this before. None of my lotr or any other lines have this issue.
  21. Hah! Same thing happened with my wife when I got the Bagend set. Wife put it up on a narrow wall-mounted shelf in the living room. It looked awesome and was there for a couple of weeks until a nerf war broke out and it took a tumble :( now its on me and my sons lego shelf in his room - which is oddly a safer place for it. My kid is super OCD about the "Collection" as he calls it.
  22. It'll be back around soon. I'm glad to hear Australia got the sets!
  23. What's the $10 box?
  24. Really great design. Love it!
