I've heard very good arguments as to why Oin and Gloin are supposed to be pronounced O-in and Glo-in. You could go on forever with the names :P I'm not asking reviewers to be perfect. None of us are and I'm sure all these people are perfectly nice individuals. They just come off as needing attention the way they slap sets together and then butcher the description. If you don't know something, say so. They just come off as silly to me the way they race around looking for sets or pay an arm and a leg on eBay for sets just to be the first or the only one reviewing it. Don't get me wrong, I run around town looking for sets and have paid WAY too much for minifigs on eBay or at conventions, but they were things I wanted...not things I wanted to get more Internet people to like me.

Ageed and that's exactly what I've been saying! I want two, but now that you mention it three would be a better start. I'll probably wait for sales.

I couldn't agree more. These franchises survive on the casual fan and I'm grateful for them. However, I'm not talking about people buying the sets, I'm talking about people reviewing the sets. I like a lot of things that I'm not going to do a review on...because I don't know what I'm talking about. This isn't something I lose sleep over. I just find it annoying. To keep on topic, anyone snagged doubles of these yet? I wanna see some combined set mods!

Honestly, I can see getting duplicates of all these new sets except maybe the ship. Obviously, having two black gates makes sense for scale purposes and having the extra parts from a second wizard battle would be nice. The council set too is just begging to be modded to be more to scale and using two of them seems like the place to start.

I don't understand why people buy sets to review when they're obviously not into the theme. Is it for attention? For possible financial gain? I'm not trying to bag on YCF because that guy and his daughter seem really sweet, but come on - "you get a bird in this set." Really? It's just a bird?" It seems like the cool thing to do now on YouTube - "Be the first person to halfway slap together a set, get it posted, and get subs! Who cares if I know anything about the set or the theme! Who cares if I mispronounce names! Who cares if I put it together correctly! JUST BE THE FIRST!" /nerdrageoff

I get the impression that the release of Yazneg was a mistake. It's seemed like they got confused between him and Aznog - by putting him on the white warg etc. nothing to back that up, just the impression I get. Great little build though!

Both are rubber Mine were a little crimped actually but once I put them on the figs they straightened out. I really like the look of the hair pieces.

Elrond from the Council set has a two color cape as well.

With the Bogo, getting black gate and council sets saved me about $5 off retail. I think until this weekend? Also, it'd be a good time for those who want the doubled black gate to pick both up now.

Lol don't count in it from me. I'm terrible at that kind of thing. If there is something specific anyone wants to see, let me know.

My local TRU in Omaha had the four new sets. It's Bogo 50% off so I snagged the black gate and council of Elrond.

Thanks for the review. Sending a large chest of gold through the woods with only two guards - best idea ever.

WIP - LotR Helm´s Deep (minifig scale)

I understand from a "I'd like to do something like this myself and want to know how much it costs." perspective, but I agree that people get a little personal about other MOCers finances. Gets old.- 124 replies

That'd be nice. Generally speaking, don't the sets only make early appearances at the big box stores? I thought the Lego stores only put them out when they're "supposed" to be released.

I think on the whole, you're correct. As an aside, my five year old son's three favorite things are Lego, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars - which I attribute to my excellent parenting. I texted my wife the Lego Orthanc video the day it was released to show my son while I was at work. Her response was "he wants to know how long it will take for him to save his allowance to get it...as if you're not going to buy it the day it comes out." She's right, but he doesn't know that yet and we're getting extra mileage of his chore chart because of it! Again, excellent parenting.

I agree. As was hinted at previously, some of the whites need to be changed to browns. -

Here's a link to the fierce flyer with a couple of lotr figs for scale I took a while ago. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8215/8293508522_9b9375eb91.jpg I think it fits well, but will definatley be too big compared to Orthanc. -
I'm surprised by the number of people unfamiliar with the castle. That's not a dig, I just assumed more people had seen the show. I love the archery target. Did you put the Stark children around it mocking each other as they shot? :P

Is English your first language? I ask because this came off as unnecessarily rude. -
Looking forward to this. Will you have an interior!
