Best way to sell big part of my lego collection?
MAB replied to Lukasguy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You really have to say what you mean by best. Fastest Highest value Less sorting for you etc. If you want best value, then you need to sort into sets and sell sets individually, which may take time. If you want fast, then weigh the parts and sell them as incomplete bulk unsorted lots, which will get you least value.- 2 replies

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
MAB replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Did it come with the free hair? It's so easy to fake it, this error is worth the sum of its parts. Although this is probably a very rare occurrence. To come with one error is not very common. But to come with two non-correlated errors, it will be (not very common) squared. So a very, very low probability that this would happen. You buy a blind bag. If there is a problem with it, then they send you a replacement for what you bought. Another blind bag.- 4,155 replies

They were insane from day 1, for the less common figures (Low, Neuer, Boateng, etc).

Yes, by set-up work I don't just mean setting the machine up by the time and material costs for making the individual colour cliches, etc.
-
I'm not a fan of stickers for some of the reasons above. Also on clear ones, the difference between the reflectivity of the part and the part covered by the outside of the sticker. But of course there is the trade off of not getting any decoration against getting printed parts. They are not going to print every part, so some decoration will be missing if they don't go with stickers.
-
Do you really want the same as LEGO (that is, pad printing in large volumes) or will digital printing onto the parts do? Both are fairly hard wearing, but very different processes. Digitial printing is good for one offs, pad printing is for much bigger runs only due to the set-up work required.

What would you use as a minifigure wargame base?
MAB replied to the fixer's topic in General LEGO Discussion
One of these ... with two of these in the middle ... so that the minifigure can stand centred on the round plate. -
There are plenty on bricklink, although fairly expensive. Now it is a game of seeing whether buyers or sellers crack first.

If you are wanting an efficient way of locating heads, torso or legs for purist custom minifigs then a great way to search for them is to use goatleg, which creates customised searches at bricklink depending on what you want. Not only do you get to see the list of heads, torso or legs based on your criteria, but it is also simple to find out which set / minifigure they appear in and what the secondary market price is on bricklink. To do it: 1) go to http://goatleg.com/ 2) select head identification (or torso or legs) 3) under Minifig Heads by Pattern, select colour and stud type (if needed), then select from the pre-determined facial features, etc or just enter a keyword for your search 4) Then either select list with images or thumbnail gallery (better for visual searching) and you will see what you customised search brings up. 5) Click on the part number for details about the part, which set it comes in, which minifigure it comes in, its current price, etc. It is very flexible (search for what you like, filter by colour, etc) and it is (nearly always) up to date being based on BL's catalogue.

How deep is it? As you seem to have angled the view from the side perfectly so as not to see anything behind.

They are great for doing heather moorlands. -
There is nothing wrong with selling parts imported from China on bricklink. It is only wrong if they are fake.Very few fake parts get sold on BL, as buyers will soon notice and call the seller out. As to the original question, if you are happy using fakes, then use fakes. Although you have to ask where does it stop? Why throw away the other parts just because the equivalent lego parts are relatively cheap? Why not use them as well, given you are already using fakes in your models?

Why is saying that there is a more efficient and better way of doing something (that already exists) hateful?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion
MAB replied to 8BrickMario's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Because Lego is cracking down on sites that show leaked images (at least ones that get free stuff direct from them). Other sites without this relationship will still show the images. -
Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion

Yes, that always seems to be the way. The initial stock sells out quickly and a lot of it appears on BL / eBay, then when they come back in stock they tend to be much easier to find. The worse series for me was S14, I couldn't find those for about six weeks after release, then once Halloween was out of the way, they were everywhere. And some stores still have them.- 4,155 replies

If scratches are not too deep, you can use really fine sandpaper (2400 grit) to get rid of them. You obviously take a very thin layer of plastic of the surface, so use carefully.
-
The point about goatleg / bricklink is that it is constantly updated, so you don't need to manually add to lists each time a new head comes out. Also, it will take way longer than two seconds to search through all pictures of all heads, and you would need to find the right post first which will be a similar time to selecting / entering the search term at goatleg (or BL). Then there are errors - for example, you have a stubble one (3rd row, 2nd column) listed as a beard and/or moustache, then repeated in stubble. If he counts as a beard, why aren't the other stubble beards there?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion

Kick boxers don't wear helmets in competition, do they? So the addition of the sparring head protector is probably not correct. They also tend not to wear make-up, so replacing the head with the beat-up side of the male boxers head should look fine if you want a beaten up female kick boxer.
