LOL@ Aeroeza. While I'm not about to pass out, I am pretty excited about this set. I'm already making space in my Death Star room to display it. 3 weeks to go, right?
-
Hahaha. I'll take that as a compliment. Wouldn't a UCS Falcon look awesome in my room?
-
Very sleek, looks like it could get the injured to the hospital FAST! I like the detail inside, as well. Nice work.

Ohhh yeah, same here. I can't wait to see pics of the TIE. So it's going to be a May 4th release like the Sandcrawler?
-
LOL. Cool, can't wait to see what you've got in the works.
-
Congratulations on placing your final order. Be sure to post pics of the build progress.

I really really like the set. I got a sealed copy after it was out of production, but when it was still pretty cheap. For some reason it got pretty bad reviews when it came out; not sure why. I loved the build, the design, and the mini figures.

Oh I agree with you, there could have been quite a few things that would have made those films better. Thanks for the advice about the MHC.

Very cool MOC. I like the clean lines and your SNOT use. It looks like it's on scale with the UCS Star Destroyer.... maybe a space battle is in order.
-
Ugh, that thing gave me the shivers. Which means you captured the alien quite well! lol

They sold out so fast here in the States I thought I would have to pass on this set. But on a recent visit to Spain I saw a couple in a department store, so I nabbed one. I'm waiting a couple of years until my daughter is old enough so we can build it together.

I opened this expecting to see what monstrous MOC had Bob made now.... and I find something small. Yet you've managed to get a great amount of detail into the MOC and captured TOR feel perfectly. *bows* great work yet again!

I just watched TCW episode with the MHCs... those things are pretty cool looking, and tough to kill. What do you think of the set?
-
Yeah, the lighting and photography are fantastic. Did you MOD the set at all? If so I'd like to see what you've done.

I wish I could remember my very fist set, but my parents started buying LEGO for me when I was really young. I have a few very old sets, like the classic yellow castle, a few classic space sets from the late 70s, but if I had to guess I think my first one was 588, Police Headquarters. A few years ago I went back to my parents' house and retrieved all my old LEGO, and found I still had all but a few pieces from the set and the other old ones from my childhood.

I recently finished my LEGO room (pics in signature link) so I do most of my building in there on the floor.
-
Ouch! I didn't know you sold that much of it off. What are you looking to concentrate on this time around?
-
As the others have said, fantastic job. Just brilliant work all around with the detail. I have to say, though, my favorite parts are the cars. I especially like Porsche's strong showing.

Nicely done. Did you sell off a lot of your collection earlier this year? I thought I saw a post in the for sale/trade forum. Just curious.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Chills replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Put things into perspective, TWP. How about taking a look at real life military hardware. It can go through revoluntionary changes (from 1912 to 1942 during 2 world wars) or much more evolutionary changes like 1984 to 2014 during time without major wars. The F-15 Eagle first flew in 1972, and is still a front-line air superiority fighter for many nations. Same for the F-16. The M1 Abrams tank went into service in 1980, and the variants are still the main battle tank 34 years later for many nations. Having X-Wings and TIE Fighters that look very similar but more "evolved" compared to the ones in EP IV-VI is quite logical, especially since the galaxy is in a post-war period. Military spending would be down relative to the buildup during the Empire, so the governments would just be modifying and enhancing current hardware. -
I thought my wife ordered it weeks ago, but I was mistaken. She just ordered it today from Amazon.... with a bit of a markup over RRP. It should be here on Dec 2nd, so I will have two builds to do that day. :)

I really like the interior mods you did. I have this set but haven't built it yet. I think I may end up borrowing your ideas.
-
Thanks everyone! If any of you are interested in building something similar I'd be more than happy to share building techniques, measurements, and how I did it.

Interesting ideas on how to solve tricky problems with LEGO. However, the ball looks a bit large compared to the size of the solar panels. Also, the connector joints appear to be thin; you might want to try beefing them up a little.

Wow, thanks again for all of the kind comments. Much appreciated! LOL@square feets.... RE: the insurance. Yep, I'm covered if something happens. I made sure with my policy. RE: the Teddy Bear. Cool, someone noticed! My sweet wife thought it would be a good idea to have something in the room that reminded me of her, so she gave me a teddy bear she's had since she was a kid. It has big fuzzy boots, a scarf, and fuzzy earmuffs. My wife said, "This is a Hoth teddy bear, he needs to sit next to your LEGO puppy (aka AT-AT)." RE: a room for my wife's shoes. Thankfully our master bedroom has a very large walk-in closet. She's got an entire wall full of shoes and purses on display, not unlike my SW LEGO displays.
