[MOC] Death Star trench run - "Look at the size of that thing"
Chills replied to BHs's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I have to be another one talking about the trench angle: just brilliant! The angle gives the MOC great perspective. I think your use of tiles for the greebling is fantastic. You really capture the Death Star surface.- 13 replies

I'm a 501st hopeful (have a set of TK armor in transit as I type!) and I saw on FISD a thread about pauldrons. You aren't kidding about the passion people have. I guess my opinion is influenced by not seeing Rebels, yet, but I don't have a particularly strong opinion either way on them. -

LOL, too true. One of the best examples is from "We were soldiers" Private: "Good morning Sergeant Major, beautiful day isn't it?!?" Sergeant Major: "What are you, the %*$ weather man?" I'm curious to see if TLG starts using pauldrons on the stormies. I kinda think they look silly on anything but sand troopers. -
A nice start. Isn't that frame huge? And the ship ends up being a lot bigger than the frame.

Show Your Army, Navy, and Collection Display

Thanks! Yeah, the bear is my wife's contribution. He's got a scarf and earmuffs, so she said he's a Hoth teddy bear. -

Nice collection of UCS sets. I would love to add the Y-Wing to my collection, but they are SO expensive. -
Looks spooky! Nice work getting the rocky feel, and the skulls are fantastic. The bones laying around and the dead-looking trees really add some great detail.

I will be watching this thread with much interest. After seeing Dr. Dave's build I considered attempting this MOC, but was too intimidated by the sheer size and piece count I'd need to source. Be sure to keep us updated and post pics of how things are coming. Best of luck to you, legocharles!

The bow definitely starts drooping over time. I had the set on display from 2004-2012, then rebuilt it and flipped the interior over to straighten out the bends in the technic structure. But I'd like a more permanent solution. Do you have pics of this mod?

[MOC] Sarlacc's nectar and the truth about Boba's escape
Chills replied to DanSto's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Simply amazing! I love this MOC. So much detail, so much though and planning must have gone into it. I love the different techniques, like the floor with the 1x1 cylinders. And the SNOT used for the stomach, wow! The colors, the layout, everything. I just keep looking through the pics over and over. Well done! -

Thanks! LMK if you want the dimensions for the oval cut-outs I used for the light panels. Figuring out what sizes worked best was pretty tricky. Be sure to post pics when you're done! Much appreciated. My house is just over 3,000 sq ft. I ended up adding another 850 sq ft of finished space in the basement. The Death Star room is about 350 sq ft, if I remember correctly. -
I like it, but I don't LOVE it. The proportions are spot on, the design looks like it'll be an interesting build, but the cockpit is... meh. I don't mind the slopes all over the place, but it doesn't look spherical enough, especially when viewed from above. The front looks like it got smashed in, a bit. I'll likely buy it, but not right away. I really would have rather have a TIE bomber. We got a B-Wing, which had less screen time than the bomber.

Wow, those are expensive! Were those pricey parts used in any other sets (same color) besides 10030? Good luck, Lukasguy. This is one of my very favorite sets. It is an amazing display piece. -
I'd been on a LEGO spending freeze while I saved up $$ for a set of TK armor (501st hopeful!). But I found a couple of great deals on eBay that I had to grab. 75050 B-wing for $35 NIB and 75053 Ghost for $63 NIB

LOL, right because Lucas shunned merchandising.

In my best angry Vader voice, "NOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo" LOL This ship is really cool looking, Bob. I'm digging the round-ness of the overall design. One note: in my humble opinion the forward-swept wings make it look like it's going backwards.
