Wow, i really dig the MF interior. My biggest complaint about that set was the unfinished inside of the ship. Your details are awesome: the "padded" walls, the improved med bay, the sleeping quarters, the area where Han and Leia kiss, and the floor grating where Han is trying to fix the Falcon in ESB. Nice! You've inspired me to give it a shot with mine. Did you build this first with LDD or did you just go at it with actual bricks? I'm pretty new to this, and MOCs in general as I came out of my dark ages last year, so any advise would be helpful.

[MOC] Hoth Ion Cannon and Battle of the shield generator
Chills replied to TWP's topic in LEGO Star Wars
+1 to BrickieB. The Death Star definitely has a better surface pattern than Hoth for the cannon. Checking out Wookiepedia it appears the v-150 Planet Defender is indeed more a grey color than white. I stand corrected, and it looks like I'll be buying another Death Star planet set for this MOC. EDIT: Sorry for the huge pic, I linked it from Wookiepedia.- 20 replies

[MOC] Hoth Ion Cannon and Battle of the shield generator
Chills replied to TWP's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I was just commenting in another thread how I lament the fact TLG didn't have an ion cannon or power generator in the new Hoth set. Yours is fantastic! I am going to borrow your idea and use the new Hoth planet set to MOC an ion cannon up for my Hoth scene.- 20 replies

Great review, thanks for posting. I, too, and a sucker for Hoth sets; I have them all. This set is underwhelming, a barely updated speeder, another white speederbike (someone commented on how their Hoth scene has more speederbikes than their Endor scene... LOL mine too!), and another Tauntaun. I will say that the Atgar cannon looks great. This and General Reikaan are enough for me to part with some $$ for this set. I sure hope TLG will make a great Hoth set next year. Something with the power generators and an ion cannon. Please! ;)

Thanks for the post. It looks like the A-wing is almost exactly the same as the one from 7754, Home One; just the removable engine is different. I like the A-wing pilot, a definite improvement over previous iterations.

Thanks for posting! I was wondering what the real website was for the codes.

Show Your Army, Navy, and Collection Display
Chills replied to BillytheKid's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This is true, people here (in the US) are quite judgmental. However, it also depends upon your friends. I'm lucky that I can be open about my SW Lego hobby (and collecting SW memorabilia in general). My wife and I recently bought a new house and during our housewarming party everyone wanted to see my Star Wars room. During the party I was surprised to find a few other friends were Lego collectors. -
My wife let me open a present from under the tree, this afternoon... a bit early but fitting. She got me the 2012 SW Advent Calendar.

HAHA, that's awesome. Great detail, love how Anakin is peaking out the door. Nice work on his room, the color scheme reminds me of his Naboo fighter. What is written on his wall in the frame next to the door?

I'm a big Hoth fan and have pretty much all the Hoth/Hoth related sets; however I'm a bit disappointed in this latest Hoth set. I was hoping for a new Hoth scene, and 7879 wasn't great. It has some good features, but TLG strayed too far from the movies with the set. 7749 is the worst of the Hoth sets, IMHO. The turret is wrong, the rebels are off, and like others mentioned, its not a trench. 7666 is a good set, but still a bit lacking in features. I figured we wouldn't be getting a new Hoth scene this year, and I had small hopes it would be a proper rebel base, or an ion cannon set. But nope, just another big battle pack. I'll still buy this one, I like General Rieekan and it looks like we'll finally have a decent dish turret; but enough with the snow speeder bikes.

[MOC] Yet another Super Star Destroyer Executor...
Chills replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I haven't been on the site lately, but its cool to see your thread at the top of the list. Your ship is really coming together, can't wait to see the finished product! -
Well, I'm not very impressed by this line-up; there are way too many Clone Wars sets. I don't like the way those minifigures look. I dig TOR BP and the Rancor Pit, those will be purchases next year. I guess I will be able to spend my money building my Star Wars room instead of on LEGOS. LOL

I see what you mean and agree. I think your AT-AT is lookin' really good, not an easy MOC at all. Keep us updated on your adjustments.
-
Yeah, diggin' the improvements on the head design. Are you thinking about adjusting the roof/top so it has different levels instead of being flat? After looking at other movie photos the chin guns look pretty much spot on. And props on the side-mounted guns. Those look great.
-
Not that I could do any better, but I think the shape of the head could have a little more detail, and the under-chin cannons are a little long. Just my humble opinion.

To echo the other comments. WOW!!! WOW WOW WOW!!!!! I was amazed by the exterior shots, such an improvement on the UCS SD (which I have and while I like the set it does leave a lot to be desired) But then I saw all the interior shots and my draw also dropped. All the detail, so well thought out and designed. I also love the TIE bays and the fighters on the racks. That's my favorite part. But the sleeping quarters, briefing room, droid bay, engine room, and the bridge, all just incredible. I'm also curious as to the cost and the number of bricks. This is a truly impressive MOC. Nicely done.

That's very cool. I have to say it takes a lot to post a MOC in this forum. There are some tough critics out there, probably because we enjoy LEGO and Star Wars so much. I understand both sides; Anio put up his MOC and it is tough to hear criticism, even if it is given with the best intentions. I understand the other posters too, as I feel there are improvements in shape that could be made. However Anio's MOC is way better than anything I've created. Keep on buildin'!

First off this is a very cool MOC. I'm just getting back into LEGO and I would love to have the skills and creativity to build something like this. I do, however, want to point out something. I don't think the "knees" ever bent backwards. They only bend like a human "knee" with the upper leg forward and the lower leg back. To me the way your 2 of your legs bend backwards makes them look awkward. http://deathstarpr.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/AT-AT-Hoth1.jpg EDIT: Looking more closely at your pictures I see why you had to bend the knees the way you did; it is so the lower leg connects to the ankle in a straight line.

[Software] LDD Manager
Chills replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks Superkalle. I'm not sure how to create a virtual PC, but I'll look into it. That might be the easiest thing to do. As for changing things on my work laptop I'm a bit restricted on what I can do. If you do get a 64-bit version made that would be awesome! -
[Software] LDD Manager
Chills replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I have a Mac at home and 64-bit Office on my work laptop. Are there alternatives for me to manage the bricks on my LDD sets? -
My wife found a coupon $5 off any purchase at TRU, so we printed up a bunch of them and I picked up all series 1 and 2 of the Planet Sets. $10.99 (stupid TRU mark up) originally but $5.99 after the coupon. :) Target is also discounting 2011 and early 2012 sets to make room for the new ones, I got Anakin's Interceptor on sale.

Hey, Bob, that ISD isn't bad at all. It looks pretty cool next to your SSD. The SSD looks great, I'm really diggin' it. I like the engine section, it looks like it was tough to design. That's one high brick-count. LOL -
Very cool, it really reminds me of the Kenner set from the 80s. Suggestion: instead of one large platform between all the trees about about multiple levels and smaller platforms out of each tree? It seems in ROTJ the village had lots of small platforms and levels extending from each tree trunk. I like the swinging logs to crush the AT-ST. Keep up the good work!

Looks like you've got it spot on. Nice work! BTW, I don't like the way 4492 looks either. If you turn the neck and bridge around 180 degrees so that the slope is at the back as well as the angled bridge parts it looks a lot better. Not sure why the designer didn't do this in the first place. For a mini ISD I like the one that comes with 10221; but it's too short for your purposes. Maybe you can MOC one up?
