The DS had to orbit the planet to get around to the moon.

I thought the same thing when I built my TIE Crawler a couple of months ago. It is an interesting set, but I'm not sure I dig it as much as I thought I would when I bought it.

LOL. Interesting. I wonder why he's so reluctant to part with the sets; it appears he doesn't really appreciate them.

ARGH! What a waste of classic SW sets. Are the sets complete, minifigures and all?
-
My birthday was the other day and I got all 3 Series 3 Planet sets and Sith vs. Republic trooper BP, which means I've got all the sets currently being sold that are on my wanted list. Come on August 1st!

I completely agree. I'm watching for a good deal on one of the older shuttles on eBay; and while I'd like to see a new one, a Frigate would be an awesome addition to my fleet. I'd rather have that or a Mon Cal cruiser.

Huh, in the 2 years with the 101st I never saw any armor. Where do they even keep those suckers? I was 1/58th, one of the 2 units at Campbell to wear a red beret (we were a detachment from Bragg). Our unit is located behind the Loach, right there where you make the right turn off of Range Road (I think it has a different name now) onto the road to the back 40. Glad you like Campbell, there is a lot to do, espcially with Nashville just a short drive away. And yeah, compared to central Texas and SoCal it's a verdant paradise. I did a few NTC rotations, which was quite an experience. In fact, the first time I saw the trailer for The Phantom Menace was in the chow hall at Irwin. LOL Anyway, amazing job on your ISD. Do you have a new project in mind?

What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
Chills replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
My top 3 SW sets are hard to narrow down, I like so many. But if I have to make a decision I would say: My absolutely favorite set is 10188 - Death Star. Yes, it is expensive, but it is totally worth it. 3,800+ pieces, 24 minifigures, some excellent pieces, plus a fantastic build that takes a very long time. The set is well designed, incorporating so many iconic scenes from the movies. It is a fantastic conversation piece and everyone who sees my collection is immediately drawn to it. My only gripe with this set is that instead of a droid repair bay there should have been a mini trench and thermal exhause port. Deciding on #2 was tough, having a number of sets I really like. But i settled on 8129 - AT-AT. I got this set on BL in the first months after my Dark Ages and waited almost a year to put it together. It was well worth the wait; I'm a huge Battle of Hoth fan and the AT-AT is the centerpiece. This set is really well designed, and comes with great minifigures. I also thought it was a really cool build, despite the repetitive legs. And finally set 7754 - Home One. This set got a lot of negative reviews, but I think it is really great. The build was a lot of fun, excellent and unique minifigures, and the modular design allows plenty of MOCing. Plus, since it is not a popular set I was able to snag a MISB example for well under MSRP. -
Hey, I just read the your article in Brick Journal, cool stuff. I noticed you're a tanker at Ft. Campbell. What a coincidence; I am a former 19K, myself, but I wasn't at Campbell when I was on tanks. However I was stationed there for a number of years in the late 90s as a 93C, air traffic controller, supporting all of the helicopter battalions. I didn't know there were M1s at Campbell, when did the Army bring them in? When I was there the entire division was light infantry.

Looks like the summer sets won't be released in the US until August 1st. I was hoping we'd get them this month. 7 more weeks to wait. :( http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Corporate-Alliance-Tank-Droid-75015

What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
Chills replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm not much of a complainer, and I find positive notes in almost all of the sets I buy; however, there are definitely some sets that make me scratch my head and say, "what were they thinking?" 6205 - V-Wing. This is a bargain basement set, it has half of an astromech droid; a canopy that isn't hinged; and a generally cheap feel to the set. Not a big fan 4492 - Mini Star Destroyer. This is a poorly designed set, it appears the designer only glanced at the film shots of a Star Destroyer. The conning tower looks like it's backwards, the rear angle plates are all wrong, and what's up with the gun on the bow? The newer polybag ISDs are much better. 7660 - N1 w/Vulture Droid. I needed an N1 for my collection and had high hopes, but was disappointed with this set. It is sorely lacking in detail, and the droid fighter is just a horrible design; the flick-fire missles fall out and get in the way when moving the legs around. That being said, these are just opinions. I've seen some people say they don't like sets that I found fantastic; and I'm sure there are fans out there who will disagree with my observations on these three sets. -
Lego needs to not focus on the minifigures!
Chills replied to brick_of_legends's topic in LEGO Star Wars
OP: I see your point, however I feel that the majority of the sets that have been coming out are well thought out and well designed. I really like the pod in Droid Escape, and while I don't really want the tank droid I do want Jango Fett so I'll likely get the set. If you compare sets in the last couple of years to set 6-14 years ago I think there's a big difference, the newer ones are just better. Having new and detailed minifigures is icing on the cake for me. Bottom line is that LEGO is a business, and they will market their wares for maximum profit. I bet there are a lot of meetings to decide which figures to put in which sets. If a set isn't deemed very strong (tank droid) then they will put a strong and desirable minifigure with it. I find nothing wrong with that. And what is there really to complain about? Even if you don't like the set remember you are getting LEGOs... build something else with them. ;) -
Good catch! Luke's hand gets shot while on the Sail Barge's upper deck, so the minifigure hand should be flesh-colored in the Rancor Pit and Desert Skiff sets. Props to LEGO for paying attention to movie detail.

Ewok Village=Amazing set, I can't wait to get my hands on it! Have the summer sets been released in the US yet?
-
EXCELLENT!!! This set is way beyond my expectations. It has so many features, from the net that catches the Rebels, to the fire spit, the helmets used as drums. Tall trees, awesome playability, and a ton of minifigures. I cannot wait for this set to be out! BTW, also agree with Drastic Plastic: the stormies should have had printed legs.
-
I thought the new sets were released here until the beginning of June. EDIT: Just checked their website and they've got pretty much all of the LEGOs on sale (online only). Probably making room for the new summer sets.
-
Agreed. I would rather have Cloud City or the Cantina (think of all the minifigures that could be included in the later!). However, I think that folks who grew up with the PT would rather have the Jedi Temple. It seems the sets LEGO fans really want made depends on your generation.
-
Thanks for the info! My bday is in the middle of June so my wife has time to order the new sets on my wishlist. LOL
-
I didn't know those sets are available in the US. Just in time for my birthday!
-
Curious, what did he say?
-
I've got 7657 and 8039, both have their pros and cons; however IMHO I like 7657 better because it just feels more like the actual AT-ST, and 8039 has too many studs.
-
Woohoo! We finally get an Ewok Village!
-
+1, what's in the water? Fantastic build! I love all of the detail, especially the Emperor and Vader cleaning the bantha droppings. The rancor's detail is awesome, and I love how he's about to eat Jar Jar. LOL. This MOC looks like you can add more "animal exhibits" anytime. Like a krayt dragon, an aviary with some mynoks, and a snow scene with a wampa and tauntauns. Such a cool idea. Can't wait to see what else you'll do with it.
-
I filed a report, too. Some people have no shame. I hate thieves! I hope he gets his auction pulled. Good luck, Anio. BTW, your Venerator is friggin' amazing!
-
I was also hoping for the largest "set" ever. But this is quite awesome! I hope it travels, I'd love to see it in person.
