No, I don't know of any way to set defaults, since all project options are stored within your ldr/mpd file. I suppose you could copy that block of text, once you've got it where you want it, and then just paste it in each time you start a new set of instructions.

Do you actually use Powerpoint as to display/present your instructions? The current version of LPub allows you to add other images to your instructions. Since the "Add Text" feature hasn't been enabled (to my knowledge), I've used it to add text, cover images, etc. to instructions that I've generated recently. Otherwise, using "Export As... PNG Images" should give you images that you can edit to your heart's content.

What is your end goal? If you tell us that, someone may be able to help you figure out a work-around.

For the rotation point, check the Settings > Rotation Point menu item. Setting the point to part origin might be the best for you, though, as I've seen some odd behavior when it's set to part center. And for pieces disappearing, can you give a few more details? What exact steps are you taking, and when do the pieces disappear? How many parts are in your model? Do other parts always disappear, or just some of them?

LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
Classicsmiley replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I'm sorry I didn't give the correct name to begin with. As much as I've used LDD, I've never actually looked at the mouse-over names for the tools, until now. -
LDD 5, what features do YOU want?

It's easy to do your find-and-replace in this instance. Drop another 3065 in your model, and use the "select all pieces of same type" tool to select it (and all other versions of it). Move the selected pieces, and see what else moves in your model. -

LDraw to LDD conversion (and vice verse) very seldom works 100% correctly. The part mapping is governed by a file called ldraw.xml, in the LDD directory. The version that is installed by LDD by default is quite lacking, so you need to make sure to get the most recent version from here: http://gallaghersart.com/page/new_ldd_parts_and_the_ldraw.xml/ . It's not a 100% solution, but it's better than the default. Also, if there are ever any overlapping parts or illegal connections in the .ldr file, some parts will be dropped when the import occurs. Good luck!

The only way I know of is to create the text in an image editor, and then use "Add Picture" from the edit menu.

Ok, so when you paste that path (minus the db.lif), can you actually get to the correct folder? -

Did you change the "myusername" part to your actual username when you were setting up the paths? -

I saved your MPD file and ran it through LPub. I didn't have any problems with the tire or hub. I can't upload PDF files to Brickshelf for some reason, but here's a screenshot from the resulting PDF. I've got my LDview settings tweaked for another project, so the images here are just a bit off. Please open the MPD file in LPub, and let me know how it goes.

Could you take a look at this file in LPub, and let me know how it behaves for you? If it looks correct, and you're still having trouble with your file, please post it here.

[Software] LDD2PovRay

Are you wanting to maintain the shadows on the ground plane? If not, you might try rendering with no ground plane and a transparent background, and then adding the background in an image editor. -
Did you build your model in Extended mode, or normal mode? If you didn't click the black tab in LDD before starting to build, you built it in normal mode. You may need to start a new blank "Extended mode" model, and then import your model. Once you do that, you should be able to change the colors of parts to whatever you'd like.

LDD 4.3.6 bugs
Classicsmiley replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I can attach the tail just fine. I think there is a bug, however, with the hinge in the head. -
I think this is the type of thing you can use the pli.mpd control file for in Lpub. https://sites.google.com/site/workingwithlpub/advanced-techniques/pli-controlfile Following up... What version of Lpub are you using? And is the checkmark for "Use PLI orientation/size control file" (found Configuration > Preferences) checked or unchecked? I just did a very basic test, and got the following from Lpub 4.0.0.11. Test Image

MLcad can do an auto-insert of step commands, so if you go with a studs-up approach, it could do a little bit of the work. Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to automatically consolidate plates into bricks. That may be where generating the empty shell, and then filling it in yourself might be the way to go. For the LDD import, you'll need to first open the Lsculpt .dat file in MLcad, and change the color of all of the parts from "Main_Color" to something else. LDD doesn't know what Main Color is, so it won't import it. Also, don't forget to rename from .dat to .ldr. I did the shell of the Attack pose, and ended up with this.

Lsculpt has a studs-up flag that you can set, so you may want to play with that. It also has a flag to just generate the very outer shell, which would give you a manageable number of pieces to work with. LDD is still functional for me when I work with this file, but just barely. The heads are both hollow, and it's still got 32000 pieces. Ultimately, there aren't any software packages that will do all of the work for you. You'll either have to do the work yourself, or commission someone else to do it. Lsculpt can give you the outline, but then it's up to you to figure out how to actually build it. And if you want actual building instructions, MLcad will be a better choice for creating steps, etc. I also noticed that the Ldraw sculpture I looked at would be about 30 inches/76cm high. Is that actually the size you'd like in real life?
