  1. No, by default it will show the pieces in both positions in Edit mode, unless you hide them.
  2. Ok, that makes sense. However, once a part is rotated, I don't usually have any problem connecting other parts to it.
  3. Can you give me an example where completely free rotation would be better than what we've got? In my experience, the current 90-degree keyboard rotation increment can get the parts close enough to "snap" to any another angled part that you may have in your model.
  4. I'm used to the way it is now, so I'm having a hard time imagining how free rotation would be better. I just wish they'd go back to the old absolute part rotation, instead of the camera-relative rotation that they've got now...
  5. If you look at the Bricklink page, you'll see the alternate design ID's for that piece. They've updated the mold over the years. Bricklink keeps using the first design ID that was entered, and LDD uses the most recent ID for the opaque version. If you check Brickset, you'll see that there's also a design ID for the transparent version of the part. http://www.brickset.com/ajax/getParts.aspx?Design=6116&aid=hsi6116 http://www.brickset.com/ajax/getParts.aspx?Design=6143&aid=hsi6143 In short, the design ID in LDD is not a bug.
  6. Have you experimented with the hinge tool yet?
  7. I don't recall ever having this feature. I just went a tried a couple of old versions, and those keys had no effect in any of them. As far as I know, the only way to move a piece along the z-axis is to get it to snap to another piece. So if you want something "floating" up above the floor of your model, you have to build some type of scaffold, attach the piece, and then delete the scaffold.
  8. The images are fine. Bricklink was moved from one hosting facility to another, and the image links were temporarily broken during the transition. However, Bricklink is back up and running, and the images are once again displaying properly.
  9. Currently, File > Export BOM gives you an Excel (xlsx) file with all of the parts. Or, if you need to order parts from Bricklink, use LDD Manager to create a wanted list. If you want a graphical BOM, you can get that by exporting the building guide to HTML. The BOM is on the last page.
  10. That is tremendously useful! Thanks!
  11. What steps in particular are you having trouble with?
  12. The Technic pin in the 1x1 round is illegal because it stresses the pin; the pin can't "snap" into place. There are lots of part connections that are physically possible, but are classified as illegal by LEGO Design Lab. As for the 1x1 round elements in between studs, you should be able to do that in LDD just fine. Sometimes it takes some patience to get it, but it works.
  13. For what it's worth, I'd like to add my vote for the classic space parts. I was building the Robot Command Center today, and realizing how many printed parts it uses...
  14. Are you doing all of the recoloring manually, or do you have a way of automating it?
  15. I get the same message, and I'm running LDD Manager 1.13. That is the most recent version, correct?
  16. Did you download the most recent version of LDD? If so, you need to click the "Extended" tab when you start LDD. That will allow you to use any color with any piece.
  17. Oh yeah, Bricklink's colors have been a mess for a long time. I've read the forum posts about metallic silver/pearl light gray/flat silver. That's one reason that I think user-configurable matching would be very useful. For my current need today, I just pasted the wanted list output from LDD Manager into a text editor and did a find/replace for the color numbers. Thanks for looking into a long-term solution, though! [Edit] It's interesting that none of the flip-flop colors show up in Brickset's list of part colors...
  18. I've been using Brickset's parts database to double-check element ID's. 315 is a current color, so I should be able to use it. Matching up known parts from current sets, it should be a trivial matter to map the color. For instance, 4655241 is the 1x1 round tile in 315 Silver Metallic. That part is only identified in one "silver" color on Bricklink. Shouldn't it be pretty easy to create the match? At the very least, would be possible to add user-configurable color matching to LDD Manager?
  19. I've been using LDD Manager to create wanted lists for Bricklink, and I've come across a problem with part colors. If LDD Manager can't map a LEGO color to a Bricklink color, what's the best way to correct it? Specifically, LEGO color 315 Silver Metallic doesn't map to Bricklink's Flat Silver. It would be really nice if I could change the color of parts directly in LDD Manager. It wouldn't affect the original LDD file, of course; just the database records.
  20. The search box in LDD can be really useful. I just searched for "hinge", and expanded the all of the element sections. The numbers for the two halves of the hinge brick are 3830 and 3831, and the hinge plate is 73983.
  21. I wasn't aware that that option existed. Thanks!
  22. With the most recent couple of versions, a parts list is created when you generate HTML building instructions. If you want a list for use on Bricklink, etc., you should check out LDD Manager. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41993
  23. Quite frankly, this reminds me of what LEGO did with shutting down LEGO Universe. They decided that moving to a licensing model (as opposed to direct internal development) made the most business sense, and that same rational is mentioned in the Disney press release. Still, I empathize with all of the affected employees.
  24. Excellent! I just downloaded it, and I'm glad to see that it works with Office 365 Home Premium. Thanks!
  25. 22. Pigs VS Cows - Ninja Nin - 1 point 30. Triceratron - Steebles1908 - 2 points 62. Mechsquirrel - toutouille - 2 points Great work everyone!
