  1. The nut was inspired by one of my boys, who said that the giant squirrel really needed a giant nut, and it wasn't until I found the right part for the ears that the squirrel head really started looking like a squirrel. I had a couple of failed ideas that looked more like a giant rabbit...
  2. Thank you for the kind words!
  3. The squirrels of Heartlake City used to be a pretty contented lot. They foraged for nuts when they could, and enjoyed the occasional handout from the friendly citizens of the city. However, that all changed when the Giant Mutant Nut from Outer Space landed in their peaceful forest. The squirrels suddenly found that they were smart, they were hungry, and they had the great urge to build a giant robot squirrel (which they decided to call the "Nutcracker"). Why beg for handouts when you can just take what you want? So, if you're ever wandering in the woods near Heartlake City, please be cautious. You probably shouldn't feed the squirrels, but you might not have much choice... Full set on Flickr
  4. What's the recommended method to upgrade? Should I uninstall the old version first, or just run the exe for the new version? (Here's one of the render's I've done so far. I'm looking forward to playing around with more scene-based models. )
  5. Another bug - I just tried using the IndoorHQ radiosity setting, and I got the following message: Parse Error: No Matching } in 'radiosity', undeclared identifier 'Rad_Settings' found instead
  6. Thank you very, very much for this tool! I'm having a lot of fun playing around with the different settings. I've had several successful renders, but when I just tried to enable the "Color Outlines" I got the following errors: A popup (titled File: 'ldd_colors.bin') with the message "Failed to open file: Access is denied". The actual POV error message is "\\.\LDDIncludes\ldd_colors.bin" line 89: Parse Error: Expected 'numeric expression', undeclared identifier 'ldd_color_1' found instead. Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm on Win7 x64, with 64-bit versions of POV Ray 3.7 RC6 and LDD to POV-Ray Converter.
  7. I just tried to run LDD Manager, and I saw an Access window open and then promptly close. I'm using Win7 x64, and I've got the 64-bit version of Office 2010 Pro. Do I still need the Access 2003 Runtime? Thanks!
  8. Interesting... On the search page, the Western Town is already listed as a Cuusoo product! http://lego.cuusoo.com/all/1 (order by "most supported")
  9. Could someone who has the Uruk-Hai Army set please let me know if the wood-grain tile piece is printed, or stickered? Thanks!
  10. This is how a piece should be updated - with consideration for past uses, and with the intention of still being usable in as many of the old situations as possible.
  11. Although I've been using digital building tools for many years, I am very unfamiliar with Leocad. (I did install it yesterday, just to see what it was like.) However, when I did a quick test, it did look like Leocad wasn't giving Tan bricks the proper color, when saving a .ldr file. If that's the only color that isn't being saved properly, I'd suggest using the "select same color" feature, selecting all of the bricks, and changing the color of all of them at once. For the window glass, you'll probably just have to find the equivalent piece in MLcad, and replace the missing pieces. If you have any other questions, please ask! [Edit: Ninja'd due to starting the post this morning, and not posting it till this afternoon...]
  12. Welcome, Hans! -Classicsmiley
  13. There are actually two LEGO stores in the Denver area - an Outlet in the Colorado Mills mall, and a Brand Retail in the Park Meadows mall. Are you going to try to get to both of them? (There's probably at least an hour drive in between them.) I'd suggest calling both of them before you come, and asking about availability of new sets, Pick-a-Brick stock, etc. Have fun!
  14. I'm not positive, but I think that editing the preferences.ini file in the actual program directory (C:\Program Files\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\preferences.ini)should unlock it for all users.
  15. Thanks for pointing that crucial fact out, AndyC. I use literally use LDD on a daily basis, so it's easy for me to mentally skip over those steps that are just absolute habit. SA, have fun using LDD!
  16. I assume you're just talking about a basic 90 degree rotation around an axis, correct? For that, you use the arrow keys. For rotations around either a one-stud connection, or for hinges or turntables, use the Hinge tool. Please let me know if I misunderstood your question.
  17. I'm going to hazard a guess that the extra blasters and arms were included because that's how the battle droids are shown on the front of the box. If they hadn't included them, customer service would have had to field a lot of calls from upset people... It's just a guess, though.
  18. A member of my local club has posted instructions for some bison he built for one of our shows. http://www.flickr.com/photos/legozilla/set...57603970411747/
  19. Technic, Pin Connector Toggle Joint Smooth Double with 2 Pins http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=48496 To find it, I did a search for "pins", and then scrolled through the list of parts that was returned. Bricklink's search isn't the easiest to use, but in this case it turned out pretty well.
  20. Yeah, I just added the parts to a wish list, and while there are quite a few stores that have three of the parts, I haven't come across any that have all four.
  21. I suggest making a Wanted List on Bricklink with those parts, in the quantities you want. You can then view which stores have the most of the parts that you want, allowing you to minimize your shipping and handling costs.
  22. Have any European LUGs actually started the process for this yet?
  23. The older style actually consists of two parts (one of which is this) that were glued together. The new style is a single mold, and is considerably cheaper to produce.
  24. Would it be possible to get a close-up of the piece on the front of the little digger vehicle that the scoop attaches to? It looks like a new piece to me. Thanks!
