Previous part: The Legend of the Reaper Dawn of Ages Chapter 2: The Cornovaria Chronicles, Part 3: The Ridge It was nearly dusk, and Maisley had led The Ring straight to the base of the ridge. Tristain readied his bow as they arrived. "We'll rest here until midnight. That is the only time the stone holding the Death Cane will open. Later that evening, the group sat by the fire as Tristain kept watch. "If we see this 'Reaper'," Tristain asked, "do we consider him friend or foe." "Are any of you on a search for eternal life?" Maisley asked. The group looked at him silent. "Then he is an ally. The Reaper is simply misunderstood." They all stood there for a lifeless moment. "Gah!" Maisley shouted looking at the moon. "It is the midnight hour! Quickly! Through the trees and up the ridge!" There were steps etched into the ridge wall. Easy for a man to climb up. On top, a stone caricature of the Guilds marked the Death Cane's haven. "So, it is real," Nordoric said. "Not much of a legend is it?" Maisley began to activate the revealing spell. As the winds of the north, Roll over the east. Rise from the south, So on the west 'doth death feast. The art covered stone disappeared. There was nothing inside. Maisley turned around towards the edge of the ridge. "What is this foolery Maisley?" Drinnian asked. "It seems as if the staff withered away," Owlan said. "Impossible!" Malivan said. "Magic wands, staves, and canes are intangible. Maisley, is this some kind of a fairy tale?" "I..." Maisley started, "I do not know what to say." "Whoever is out there, come out! Weapons on the ground!" Tristain shouted, bow ready. The rest of the Ringsmen pulled out their weapons and faced Tristain's direction. "What's going on?" Maisley said. Owlan slowly drew his sword, unaware of what was going on. "Tristain has a heightened sense of hearing," Malivan said. Maisley's sword, the Grainaldus, began to vibrate, its magic abilities preparing for use. Maisley's eyes shrunk. He pulled his sword out in front of him at the very moment... ...a massive sound wave hit. The Grainaldus shielded Maisley from damage as most of the Ringsmen fell off the ridge. Tristain moved out of the way just in time. "Blast it all!" a voice from the shadow's said. A black robed wizard walked out from the forest beyond the ridge. "You had to have arrived at the worst possible time!" the wizard said. The wizard charged, cane and sword making contact with a clang! The sound brought Drinnian back on his feet. Everyone who fell survived. Owlan ran off hoping to assist Maisley. "Quickly," Drinnian said. "Get up! Get up you fools!" Atop the ridge the battle continued. "The Death Cane is not for fools such as you!" Maisley said. "The sword Grainaldus is not for timid men such as yourself either!" The wizard reacted with a swift maneuver, grabbed the Grainaldus, and lodged the sword just above Maisley's heart. The wizard pushed Maisley off the ridge hoping to finish him off with the fall. "Maisley!" Drinnian shouted. "Look upon me, foolish Avalonians!" the wizard shouted atop the ridge. "All will bow before the vicious hand of Mallock the Malign!" "You mad man!" Owlan said. Mallock grimaced and rose the Death Cane. Air runes began to form around the wizard. "Haven't you heard of the Legend of the Reaper? Owlan asked. "You'd be a fool to use that on yourself." "Who cares when the death are always waiting!" Mallock said. Magic energies started to charge through the runes. "No!" the dying Maisley said. "Please no! Please, stop him!... I don't wish for the curse of eternity...please!" "The cane can reawaken the dead!" Malivan remembered. "Owlan!" Nordoric shouted. "You must stop the wizard before the spell is casted!" Tristain ran out form the forest. With an idea and determination, Owlan charged the wizard... And passed through him as if he were air. "Never doubt a Wizard of Eden!" Mallock shouted. He charged at Owlan. Owlan swung his sword aggressively, forcing the wizard to turn around. Mallock continued, backwards, in Owlan's direction as Tristain fired an arrow, straight through Mallock's eye. The wizard fell into the fire and disappeared into the wind. "Now with that wind wizard gone," Drinnian said," you may rest in peace my friend." "This sword..." Maisley said, "is... a token...of gratitude... for the one... who let me... rest...in... peacccccce..." Owlan and Tristain returned. "If Tristain had not reacted," Owlan said, "Maisley would have been desecrated... I'm so sorry Drinnian." "This is for you," Drinnian said. He handed Owlan the Grainaldus. Maisley was returned to the town. His wife accepted his lifeless body with tears in her eyes. "Thank you gentlemen," an ominous and pasty-faced man said to the Ringsmen. "Thanks to you, Cornovaria is saved, but I can't be everywhere, so I bestow upon you my duties to protect those who risk desecration." With those words the man walked on. He wore black, and carried both a lantern and a scythe. Could it have been?... On Stalkhead beach, Drinnian sat in the sand. He lacked his usual spunky attitude. "Maisley was that close to you, eh?" "It's more than that," Drinnian said with a depressed tone. "When I was younger, I was a prisoner. I had stolen from the King Draconus and I was punished for being so misguided. My guard was a young man who aspired one day to become a Lord. We were bothered by each other's presence, but we eventually grew on each other. We talked about our futures, women, childhood memories, and we grew to be the best of friends. I eventually found out that he had been saving his earnings to free me, saying that it was just an act of kindness. The King had pity on me and granted me a wish before I left. I wished that the King make my guard a Lord. The King couldn't grant me that wish, but he sent us where my guard's chances were greater. A Mystic Isle called Cornovaria. Sometime later, I aspired to become a leader, so I left. When I returned, I found out my old guard was a Lord. He achieved his goal, but it was short lived..." Drinnian began to cry. "Know that I will never forget you...Maisley..." * C&C is always welcome. Previous part: Stalkhead Beach Dawn of Ages Chapter 2: The Cornovaria Chronicles, Part 2: The Legend of the Reaper The troupe made their way through the plains of Conrovaria. As they walked, rows of growing corn and the horizon-lining ridge could clearly be seen. After a mostly quiet stroll, Drinnian finally spoke up. "So... what may I ask is the point of our trek?" "You know some Conrovaria Folk-lore, Malivan," Maisley said. "Have you ever heard of the Legend of the Reaper?" "I'm not much of a story teller, but yes," Malivan said. "Allow me to relate the story to you all..." Many years ago, there was a Cornovarian crop gatherer who feared death itself more than its many causes. He searched far and wide for elixirs, potions and spells that would keep him from death. His work was futile, and he was of age when he returned to Cornovaria. Depressed, he sought counsel from the Order of Eden. They heard his plea, and reluctantly gave him the instructions to cast an eternity spell. Fabricating a staff to wield the spell for frequent use, his dreams were met at last... ...but for a price. His flesh blew away with the wind. He became only bone. An animated Skeleton. He became...undead without dying. Realizing his eternal fate, he cloaked himself in black, grabbed his scythe and a lantern and abandoned his home, leaving his cane in the middle of the road, hoping that it would appear as the everyday stick. No such luck. Another man used the staff, this time in front of nervous onlookers. At the sight of this abomination, they took him to the ridge that faces Historica, and tore him limb from limb, scattering his severed bones to the forests. In memorial, they sealed the cane, or as they called it, The Death Cane, under the stone where they killed the poor soul. To atone for his indecency, the cloaked man began to search for the souls of men who try unholy craft on life itself. He would give them their worst fear, death, as punishment for their frivolous, yet ironic efforts. For that reason, he became known as... ...The Reaper. "It is said," Maisley said. "In between his searches, The Reaper stands guard over the Death Cane, waiting for a thief to attempt at claiming it. I fear that this legend may be true. That is why we are going to the Ridge that faces Historica to see if the cane truly lies within." "And if it doesn't?" Drinnian asked. "In all honesty, I know it does, or at least...it used to..." * Just to note, this is a freebuild. C&C is welcome! I'd like to claim the following credits for the UPDH: General Building: Forced Perspective General Building: Microscale Anthropology: Countryside Scene Next part: The Ridge

That's because TV Spots just started to surface. TV Spots usually show up about a month before release (unless a movie advertises during the Super Bowl). Speaking of American Football, I saw several TLM TV spots today during some of the games today. Also, note that Marvel has three movies coming out this year, so TLM getting the highest grossing film is gonna be a feat.

I have a feeling that someone is going to mod Evo XL to look like a traditional XL figure. It shouldn't be too hard actually. All you really need is the Breakout variation of Evo, or even Brain Attack Evo.
-
I know a guy who knows a guy who's in the movie business. According to this friend of my friend, The Lego Movie is predicted to be the highest grossing film in February since The Passion of the Christ in 2004!

Dat Pagoda Temple :wub_drool: Could be one set, but there's a good chance that that's all we're getting. I'm content, after I find out who that villain is...
-
Fire CHI, huh? Looks like this is going in a tolerable direction. However, if that sad excuse of a wall is the Phoenix Fire Temple, I'm going to be ticked. I kinda dig the Fire themed minifigs being molten versions of previous characters, and those Mammoths are cool, too! Need some more pics to fully enjoy the wave.

If only they would actually fire from their Technic brick... That feature seemed so amazing on the box, but I found it to be terribly executed. Love the buggy itself though, so a minor nitpick.

I'll be quite honest, if the Invasion from below cast was mixed in with the cast from the previous cast, then this would be perfect. The VAs from Invasion are good, Breez having the best. Surge's voice was different, but fit in nicely. The rest were, monotonous, and very bland, much like the plot. Problem-answer to problem-problem solved. Nothing else. Both pleased and disappointed with Invasion.

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
PenPlays replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Yes, and we currently have only ten days until Ch. 1 ends... Time for me to kick some tail. -
Show thread. The episode bothers me, especially in the way they portray the Outlanders. They used to seem so cool, but now... Will this stop me from getting the sets? No. But I think we can all agree that the Chima TV show hasn't entirely the best quality, especially when you have only the Lego sets to go by.
-
And here I thought the Outlanders were going to be cool... Still horrible voice acting, but dang that animation is epic. Considering that the 2014 sets don't come out until March (USA), I gotta feeling that the show might be premiering around that time. Just a thought, of course.

That's already been discussed, and pretty much revealed, in the Movie set thread, but hey! Another 2012 Lloyd won't hurt anyone. To be honest, Johnny Thunder is the only reason to get that set anyway. (and might I say that I am ecstatic that they actually used his real name, as opposed to what they did to poor Lloyd... Calling him adventurer would have okay, but Lego would have been ridding this generation of one of the most important minifigs in Lego's Action Theme culture.)

My list by priority: Entire Lego Movie Theme (including The Sea Cow) Entire Ninjago 2014 Wave Entire Legends of Chima 2014 Wave All three Mixels Series Entire Agents 2014 wave (this may be re-prioritized when we get pics) The Simpson's House Do I have the money for all this? Nope. That's why I save and only pounce when there is a sale (Unless we're talking D2Cs and Polys).
-
Oh man. That thing is a beauty! Even from this one picture, you can see the detail! Don't know if I'll pick it up (Sea Cow is higher on the list), but if an opportunity presents itself, you bet I'll take it!

The "e" in "Movie" on The Lego Movie logo covers that portion of the set on the boxart. It appears that Lego doesn't see cropping errors as that big of a deal.- 2,626 replies

Remember, Furty, and Skinnet also had designs for constraction figures, and we know how that turned out... It would be a shame, and a missed opportunity as I would kill for a Spinlyn constraction figure.
