LEGO Ninjago 2017 Discussion
PenPlays replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Would love it if the mods would pin this thread, as I would love to keep show set discussion and movie set discussion separate. -
I like how the ninja look. They match the characterizations the story has given them rather well. I'm just a bit concerned with Zane. It might just be a freeze frame that has him smiling like that, but I truly hope that he isn't there purely for comedy relief. That's just too much out of the ordinary for Zane.

The rumors were sparked by the fan base. They had no validity to begin with. -
Holy sweet mother of the First Spinjitzu Master, that Garmadon gives me life! People are saying the trailer drops with the Batman movie next week. Hope there's some validity to that.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
PenPlays replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Direct 2 Consumer means it's exclusive to Lego Stores and S@H (like the modulars or the Death Star). Toys R Us selling Arkham means simply that it's a store exclusive, and that it's hard to find. Please check your facts before writing a post so certainly. -
Wait. What store is the Knight Rider pack exclusive to?
-
Everybody's looking at the city, and I'm just a little over the moon that that's Lord Garmadon. Like... I feel as if I'm seeing an old friend I haven't seen in years. Now all I need is a trailer.

The Fortrex is the Nexo Knights base of operations. Your collection is simply incomplete without it regardless of how many sets you get. Although the Volcano lair is impressive, you could live without it. -

My reputation precedes me. To be completely honest. I think it looks kinda cool as a jet thruster thing for the Battle Suits, but I feel that they could have designed it to fit perfectly on the back of a Battle Suit as opposed to just setting it there on its back. -

Seeing as I haven't had the joy of putting two together, I feel as if I absolutely need another. -

If that's the case, than I guess 30376 can't combine with another copy of itself, or a Battle Suit then (start at 2:29. It looks more a coincidence than a feature). -
Perhaps I should just let you be oblivious, as nothing I'm saying appears to be resonating with you, and seems to be getting you into a fit. Sometimes toy themes/types die. Sometimes they live their full life. Sometimes they don't. Doesn't matter what companies or IPs that are involved Welcome to the world of business. To get back to things, something seems a bit off with the appearance of Buckbeak to me. Perhaps I set my expectations too high. At least there's is a very apparent likeness, which will allow it to serve it's purpose.

Although that works (albeit perhaps a bit ugly, seeing as the hinge/slop combo on the back of the battle suits don't allow them to fit in that perfectly angled hole on each side of 30376), that's not it's original intention... If you have multiples of them, they are designed to be connected together to form a mobile blockade. -
You're way steamed up there. Let's take it down a notch and look at it from a business perspective. Adding what to I said previously, just because an IP has a strong media presence does not mean that it will translate as a toy, videogame, or otherwise. For example: I can buy three IP backed Lego games for $5 upon the occasion through Steam. Initially these games at launch and at RRP would've been $180. This has been the case with every Lego game that has been around since the advent of Steam, regardless of IP. These games are only relevant at launch and then suddenly bargain bins are their permanent home. That's aside from the fact that most of these games are free on mobile devices. On the subject of scale, both within and outside of the game, development has insane costs with how many people it takes to develop games. The goal is to make enough money to earn that money back. If you have a game that's constantly being updated with more full fledged games (Story Packs), you need to pay people for each full game that is produced. If the add-on content (Packs) are constantly half-off, that won't ever happen. People will be terminated from the project, and eventually the company will have to cut their losses by, you guessed it, killing the game. It doesn't help that the Toys 2 Life genre is dying, and it's no thanks to the oversaturation of product that makes it extremely difficult to get into now. Also, there are fans of certain IPs that don't care whether or not a Lego version of their favorite character is made. In fact that's quite a majority of fans for these IPs. It just so happens, however, that they get interest as soon as they find out it exists (I have family members who bought the game for Sonic). There typically is very, very little demand beforehand. Whilst Lego is more geared to kids, with an adult fanbase as a secondary group, Funko has an avid fanbase of both children adults equally. This applies to all Funko, not just selective items like Lego. What I mean to say is that Funko can make anything a figurine and it will be gold for just about anyone who picks it up. For PlayMobil to have rights to a product, they must sign a building toy contract, as that is the product they produce, regardless if it's just a series of figurines. Also, when it comes to your examples for IPs, Chima is a subpar sales theme that was killed for money's sake (and a shoe-in for the game to add more IPs). ET and Simpson's, however, can both be considered as inappropriate for the target audience of Lego Dimensions (and yes, I know that some parents will show their kids these shows/movies because they are classics, but not all people feel or parent that way). It actually needs to be said that many of these "classic" IPs are merely in there due to their popularity at a time where the concept of PG-13 was used very loosely, if at all, making it a bit of a determent in getting parents to purchase and expose their children to these themes. And lastly, just by looking at the shelves for Dimensions, Ninjago warms the shelves (along with many, many others), it would only be logical to cut losses and not do Dimensions content for the theme in the event that they too sell below standards. That doesn't stop them from doing a standalone game though. I know that this is quite a bit of info, but I'd appreciate it if you would take what is being said, and digest it carefully. On a positive note, Hermione is on the way, and in March no less! Yay for another wave!

All battle suits can combine with: Lance's Twin Jouster Lance vs. Lightning Aaron's Stone Destroyer Clay's Falcon Blaster Fighter Axl's Rumble Maker Aaron's Rock Climber Macy's Bot Drop Dragon It might be smart to assume that something from the Heligoyle, The Stone Colossus of Ultimate Destruction, and Knighton Castle will have some sort of combining function should all sets prove to have a Knight-side vehicle that would be sizable enough. Always look at preliminaries with the idea that all minifigs are placeholders. Of course nothing is stopping Lego from pulling a Whipparella with the Harpies and making her exclusive to a set. -

Sound it out. Harpies (hahr-peez) I would assume they would show up in some set here or there, as they seem to be quite prominent in the show. -

If those are the boxes for the movie, then color me seriously disappointed. After the colorfulness and stylizing of the last two movies boxes, this seems like downgrade to me. They could've been red! A redeeming point may be if the Ninja in the corner corresponded to the Ninja that the set is centered around. And then, of course, these are just preliminary. -
Now, now. Calm down. I understand the passion you have for this game, but similar situations have happened before. Lego Universe and Minifigs Online just to name a few. The cost of production didn't justify the means, and seeing as most LEGO games end up in bargain bins after just a year of availability, well, it's not that surprising that a game, especially at this scale, what with the extra cost of manufacture, all the while, in a dying market no less, would be having trouble, and forcing the producers behind it to reconsider its value. Lego alone has done that directly in recent years as well, with Bionicle being the hardest to swallow as of late. It also needs to be said that that source may indeed be wrong. It would be safe, however, to brace for impact. (Also the building toy license for Doctor Who has moved to PlayMobil, so there's that to keep in mind as well.)
-
There isn't a specific source. @just2good has been reliabl in the past, however. Perhaps some potential evidence to add to the mix is the fact that we are less than a month out from the next wave, and nothing has been announced past Wave 7.5.
-
This saddens me. I mean I can tell by just looking at the Toys 2 Life section at most stores that the hype for these sorts of things are dying. The only lasting one out all of these companies' Toys are Amiibo, but it's very clear that even now Nintendo has to be very selective with which games to produce Amiibo for. Hoping for some sort of notice on Dimensions' future soon, whether positive or negative.
-
Although the characters are recognizable, The Simpsons would not be considered a children's show (Dimensions and Lego's primary demographic is be children). This combined with the fact that, just looking at shelves, the first year of packs were seriously overproduced. That much overstock for a Toys 2 Life product is unprecidented, especially since they're showing up at 99 cent stores.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

No, actually. Apparently (according to Brickset's Admin Huw) most of the fan sites normally invited to these events were not invited this year. We'll have to wait for Nuremberg for any info, unless they decide to exclude fans there as well. -

Oh yeah. There was that too. What they did bother to get in detail was too much. Funny how that works. That's always a possibility. However I don't understand the excitement over it. Unless you're buying multiples to connect them into a Rider blockade (yes that's it's feature) it's not very exciting. -

You can get a description. There aren't NDAs for that. Also, any amount of time is more time it's spent being confidential, which in terms of contracts are important to keep. It's part of the reason why Star Wars typically won't allow photography at all 3 Toy Fairs for the ump-teenth year running. I guarantee it. It's just that fan sites are only gonna get licensed themes in detail. Every year anything non-licensed, other than Friends, gets completely glanced over by fan sites attending the London event specifically (Bionicle was a nightmare until the US Toy Fair). It's primarily due to the fact that it's a guided tour at the London Event. Typically, theres no time for a good look, lest you get left behind (and in doing so, might miss the guide lifting a lid on confedential product for but a brief moment). -

Hope you are ready for some of the most vague descriptions you'll ever get when it comes to getting information. You get more details from users that leak info compared to website admins telling you what's-what. Especially during London Toy Fair. There will be more confusion than definitive answers. You're better off getting hyped for the Nuremburg Toy Fair as they actually let you take pictures.
