What sucks is that from watching these videos, I thought I'd call Walmart in our town (on a Black Friday, not the best idea, to start), and asked if they had the Hobbit sets...the lady looked and said yes, whole shelf of them. I asked. Then, I ran over to Walmart, and low and behold...nada. The lady probably got Lord of the Rings and Hobbit screwed up. If only I could find out if they had them early here and where...I guess I can just wait until next Tuesday.

Lord of the Rings Game - Minifig Designs
DarkKnight7 replied to DarkKnight7's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks for the comments, Tilly! I really enjoy doing the faces, as I find that is the toughest thing to translate into Lego form. Faramir's design from the game has now been added to the first page, along with my own version and colors. Comments and suggestions welcome. Grima will be next. -
Assassin's Creed Decals
DarkKnight7 replied to DarkKnight7's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Hey Mitch, thanks, glad you liked it. As for the two colors, the issue is that the Haytham in the game has a very unique blue color that is not closely matched in Lego. Really, the closest would be the Dark Gray torsos, but his coat is an obvious shade of blue. So, for those that want accuracy to the game color, I thought I'd throw the one on the left in there, but if it is used, the user will have to personalize the torso through a similar paint or dye to the lego torso. But, for those just looking to mod a current color of Lego, the closest match would be the dark blue, so I provided a version on the right. And, as there is really no identification of what he has on his back, and due to the fact he is covered with capes, I didn't create a back design to go with his second face. Does this explanation make sense? if you guys have a good suggestion for how I should color Haytham, I'd be more than happy to hear it, as that was the greatest challenge with his design. -

Thanks, and for the moment I have good pics of most, except for Denethor. There's a very small and hard to see pic on the Lego Wikipedia site, but if you could find or share one of him, that would be great! -

James Bond 007 Custom Designs
DarkKnight7 replied to DarkKnight7's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Here's what I had originally planned on using if I printed these designs (below). Because the Bond character played by Daniel Craig has more of a short and spiky hair style, I thought originally, the only choices were either this hair that I used, or the Spiked hair found on the Sleepyhead Minifigure from Series 7. As the latter was too spikey, I went with this one. But, I'm wondering, even if it doesn't match the style, the combed back tan/blonde version of the Hawkeye hair might look better, I'm not sure. Would be good to see someone who has both hairs to maybe compare so we can see the difference. Anyway, not a bad thought. (This image from Firestar Toys and is used only for preview purposes!) Also, I saw this mockup on Firestar Toys' website and wondered what the Silva face i designed might look like. Anyway, I hope they don't mind...I will remove if they don't like me using this. That's a great idea...when I get back to these designs, I'll have to try that out...it will have to be from memory, though, as I can't find any pics. When I finish it, I'll post it as a spoiler pic, so anyone who hasn't seen the movie will be able to pass it over if they like. Great idea, though!- 21 replies

Okay, correction...Silva in his tan coat and checkered shirt is now available. I will work on his police decoy outfit too and add it after I finish Kincade (which will be after I finish a few other designs...so it may be a while)- 21 replies

No More Elrond Minifigures Available?!?
DarkKnight7 replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That's funny, same here...the GameStop people here were really kind about the delayed release of the PC version of the game here in the States and allowed me to get the fig early. Pretty great fig! And awesome employees at GameStop!- 146 replies

Yeah, I just caught this video on YouTube myself, and was excited to see all these new fig designs. I've been working on a few of the designs myself and posted a few on this thread here (including the Aragorn king design) if you were ever interested in doing decals of these figs, until they are released. I'm planning on uploading designs of Faramir, Grima Wormtongue, Eowyn, Elrond (Rivendell outfit), Isildor, Arwen, Galadriel, and the Army of the Dead & King (to name a few) over time. I've also been in the works to try to get my Dark Knight Rises and Assassin's Creed designs printed and that's getting much closer...so if that works out, I might print some of these figs, too....though not sure. I too wish that those white wizard hair and beard pieces were available...I guess we'll just have to wait, huh? Anyway, I thought since you mentioned that you were interested in these, I'd mention the decal thread if you missed it. Great video and can't wait to play the game! (Haven't got the PC game yet, but have the Elrond fig...helps to have awesome GameStop employees)

Assassin's Creed Decals
DarkKnight7 replied to DarkKnight7's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
This is definitely the right place and thanks for sharing these! It's great to see how people use these decals and how they actually turn out on the figs themselves! I would say the only difference I had with your own uses was the following: Altair - I decided to use light gray arms and he will have a white Lego material wrap around for the hanging down parts, Ezio - I used the same parts, but obviously I will have the leg portion printed directly on the legs and my design will also feature a small cape to go over the right side ( the figures left side) of the figure, and for Connor - I used a tan torso and the printing will go directly onto the legs (front and sides) - which I have to say looks awesome printed...I can't wait to show you all when the protyping is done how great Connor looks printed...and after I figure out (with professional guidance and help) how to do the wrap around for Connor. these differences in choice are the beauty behind customization, so awesome work and it was great to see! Also, I finished a quick mockup of Desmond today too, that I thought I'd share (though, I'm up in the air about if I like using Lego's jeans legs or if I should create my own...) Feedback and suggestions welcome!! -
Assassin's Creed Decals
DarkKnight7 replied to DarkKnight7's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
No problem, empithree, would love to see how it turns out! As I was looking for an excuse to stop working tonight, I thought I'd take a pic and try a quick mock up of Ezio from Assassin's Creed II. Here's what I came up with (mind you, without hood or side cloak) -

Thanks everyone for the comments, I'm glad you all think it turned out so well! And yes, piemaster1446, I do plan on doing Silva and M. I haven't seen the movie yet (I know, don't worry I'm going this Friday), but am not familiar with the Kincade. I saw on the internet he is played by Albert Finney, but wasn't sure if I found a picture of him or not. Is this picture of Kincade? If not, could you provide a few good resources and I'd be glad to try. Also, while I am currently back at my Assassins' Creed designs, I do plan on coming back to this, doing Silva, M, and Kincade (resources pending), and a few of the oldie but goodie bad guys. Ha, just noticed, I'm officially a "Citizen"...whoohoo!- 21 replies

Assassin's Creed Decals
DarkKnight7 replied to DarkKnight7's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I use this tutorial here. What I would add to this is to be sure before you resize to crop, if necessary, so that the measured size you enter goes exactly from the right edge of the torso to the left edge of the torso. Some torsos on here are not exactly to the edge, as sometimes I didn't double check. As you can see below, you should crop it right to the edge, if needed. Then, I usually adjusted the size of the width to 0.60 " (inches) and it usually the perfect width, but not always. I would print it out on a regular sheet of paper first, then check it on the fig. If it works, then print on the decal. Hope that helps. -
I started a new thread here with the designs. So far only Daniel Craig's Bond is done, but I'll add Silva, etc. when I have more time. Hope you like.
-
As this was originally a reply to a Request Thread request, I thought I would actually add more and more to it, as I'd love to make some of the James Bond characters from the new movie, Skyfall, but also from the classic films and add them all here. As I get theme done, I'll just add them here, instead of the request thread. Hope you like and as usual your comments and critiques are definitely welcome! (Only have one design done and may not add to this for a while, as I have the Assassin's Creed designs to go back to first) Note: The following designs are original property of the designer and are provided for personal use only, alterations or use of this design for sale are only allowed by permission of the designer James Bond - Skyfall (Daniel Craig version) Though I know it is tradition to keep the eyes dark, Daniel Craig's blue eyes are so distinctive and part of his look, that I think it was necessary and needed to make them light blue. Based on this picture: Clear Version: Silva (Javier Bardem)- Skyfall Here's a work in progress face, as Silva's face is VERY difficult to get right. It may be changed and edited from time to time. For now, at least, I thought I'd release his face for those that would like to print it off and use. I think the best use for this would be with a tan torso and dark brown legs, and the tan swept back hair like here. I will also upload a version with his police decoy outfit soon, so stay tuned. Tan Suit Version (This should be sized correctly to fit the minifigure and will not need to be resized in Microsoft Word if printed off - please let me know if this is not the case) Clear Version:

Assassin's Creed Decals
DarkKnight7 replied to DarkKnight7's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
For now, my idea is to print on the front of all of the legs in some part or the other (Altair = print just the red sash, with full white wrap around; Ezio = print on front and side completely; Old Ezio = partial print on front, Lego material wrap around for side and back; and Connor = Front leg printing, back and part side wrap around (with printing on it)). But, I'm not completely sure, really. I like having the detail with the front leg printing, and it looks great from the test prints, but I think there is sometihng missing in the back without some kind of wrap around for Old Ezio and Connor, but especially with Altair. I just have to figure out how to do these custom, where to find the material, and how to make the cutouts in a manner to sell lots of them. Not sure...but, if you or anyone has some good suggestions, or people to refer me to for custom wrap around designs with Lego material, I'd greatly appreciate it!! -

No, still awaiting a quote on the price for printing, but that comes after the next phase of prototype printing is done, so we will know the cost of everything. To be honest, it looks like these may not realistically be done until December...but I'm hoping for November! As for decals, I should have the back to Old Ezio up soon and Desmond. After that, I'll get started on the Haytham Kenway guy from the new game (pics in thread above). -

Thanks, Mitch, glad you like them. Well, the good news is I'm in the midst of working out the details of getting these (and my Dark Knight designs) printed and for sale, (not sure which ones...might have to set up a poll soon), which would be perfect for those who don't do the decal thing, like yourself. So, that should be an option soon, hopefully before Thanksgiving week (crossing fingers). -

Wow, this looks awesome, Jamit! Can't wait to see the whole thing! I think the soldier decals made by Woody64 work well for this, in my opinion, but if you would like me to add some more higher resolution ones, that would be fine, too. As I was looking at these renders of the officer, I notice a few things that I wanted to change, minor but important things (belt width, size of metal neck thing, middle buttons, etc.) as well as I thought I'd create a few more versions of the officer face for you to take (use if you like, thought I'd through a few together quick, as I wasn't really that happy with my original design). Here are the revised officer decals with the newer face as well. On a side note, it will be cool to see how Connor looks on your render. By the way, not sure if this helps at all, but there is a 3D version of Connor's axe found on Shapeways here. Not sure if you can contact the creator to request permission to use it (or if you even wanted to), but just a thought, as it looks so close to the real one in the game. Keep up the great work, Jamit! PsyKater, that is a cool looking character, you can bet I'll get around to designing him in the very near future. Thanks for sharing that! On a side note, I got some test prints of Connor's torso and face, and man do they look crisp! Just have to fine tune the prices, and find the pieces, and the Dark Knight, Assassin's Creed, and a few other designs should be available soon! I'll update you with more as the final prototyping is sent back.
