  2. This gorgeous tall building was once an architectural highlight of the city. It was also one of the centers of business activity, usually overcrowded by citizens. Everything changed when alien invaders suddenly came from the darkest depths of Earth. Giant drilling machines pierced the earth surface, and myriads of underground creatures flooded into the city, forcing its inhabitants to flee. Elephant Building sustained severe internal damage and now it is on the verge of destruction, although its facade and distinctive columns remain intact. Let us discover the interior of the building while it still stands. Ground floor hosts a media shop with very expressive shop windows. It used to be just a bookshop at first but later the assortment has been broaden with music and video. Ironically, the shop window dedicated to books was first to be destroyed. Above the bookshop we can find a private apartment where there is something going on. It was once owned by a respectable but stubborn family who refused to move when the building was being turned nonresidential. However, at some point the apartment was occupied by a group of dangerous criminals. Some said that this apartment became the very center of criminal activity in the city. Despite evil intentions of these people, let us hope that nobody was inside the bathroom when it was smashed. Coincidentally, there is a bank office right above the suspicious apartment. It is unclear whether it was a target of the criminals or their own organization. Anyway, it was not them who made the big hole in the floor. Also, there is a courtroom in the attic... ...And a shed on the roof. It is a perfectly ordinary shed, but who knows, maybe someone has been writing music inside of it? And here is some of the furniture used in the building. Model characteristics: 32 x 32 corner modular building. Building comprises 3 stories, an attic and a shed on the roof resulting in an overall height of 45 bricks. Model consists of over 8500 parts. 3. Congratulations on completing the build, Alex! Your efforts give me inspiration!
  4. Hi, Nemo57! Nice to see you here!
  5. I agree that even simple functions are important, and I'll try to include as many of them as I can. I guess I just need to make them work in some sophisticated way. Special thanks for reminding me about BSG!
  6. Thanks for the reply, Bob De Quatre! I should have clarified that I'm interested in complex or unusual functions that may be challenging to build.
  7. Hi everyone! I've started building a large spaceship in studless Technic style. The initial idea was a working simulation of a spinning gyroscope-like structure aka recursive gimbals which I thought out some time ago. Currently I'm slowly building the hull: I would appreciate any suggestions of motorized functions that can be included in the spaceship. I'm interested in complex or unusual functions that may be challenging to build. Thanks in advance!
  8. DrJB, in theory it's quite easy: However, the hub of the outer ring becomes quite complex which is bad for the aesthetics of the contraption.
  9. I'll try to make a good presentation for the whole SHIP when it's done.
  10. Finally made this contraption in real bricks: I decided to use it as a seed part for a large spaceship.

  13. Saberwing40k, thank you for the report! It's good to know that the concept is working!
  14. Many connections of System parts require the use of the brick separator to disassemble. I think that using some simple tools to disassemble Technic models is legal as long as it cause no harm to parts.
  15. Quite simple construction, but nice design and effective presentation. Good job!
  16. After some thinking I've come to the conclusion that this contraption should work better with main axis oriented horizontally.
  17. I agree, simple but great idea!
  18. Great entry! Nice rock work, lovely speeder!
  19. Funny ship, although it may bite! :)
  20. Crazy ship! I like the unexpected appearance of the underground level!
  21. Good ship! Despite its strong resemblance to a sailing ship, it really looks like a spaceship. And it looks very menacing!
  22. Very interesting idea to divide the scene into several pieces! I think it may be very useful to tell some story without the need to rebuild the models. For example, the settlers may repulse the attack forcing the pirates to flee which may be represented by turning corresponding pieces around! Anyway, nice setting!
  23. Very stylish ship, although I think it relates to fantasy rather than sci-fi. Asteroids do look weird... And the base is too clean and peaceful to be a pirate lair. ;) Nevertheless, the overall impression is very good!
