  1. Prince Eric is also missing as a prince. Prince Phillip as well if the Maleficent dragon set is not set in stone. One could throw in Kristoff as well due to Frozen's popularity.
  2. A variant would probably look like Jarreth2's avatar with a more movie accurate design. A dark blue torso and a beige line down the middle with no sparkles. Perhaps a cape as well. Yes, it is questionable how they'll do a cottage set for the remake since the remake doesn't really have a Snow White, any dwarfs, and not even a prince. Based on how Mermaid has flopped, it wouldn't make sense from a financial standpoint to make a set on another remake that likely won't do well either but I guess that's Disney for you.
  3. Anna is another example of a character who the skirt piece didn't work for imo. Her dress is as short as Rapunzel's and shows off her boots which are of course missing in the minifigure. Snow White's dress is longer than Anna's and Rapunzel's, but it's still short enough to show off her ankles and shoes. Ariel's blue peasant dress is the same length as Snow White's. If they ever did minifigures for Aurora or Belle in their peasant dresses, the skirt pieces would be far too long for them as well since they have relatively short dresses. They've done that before for Dorothy as well as Luna Lovegood. Not to mention Tinker Bell's original minifigure had a cloth skirt as well. My thinking is that they were making the princess characters based on the bright colors used for them in merchandise (blonde Cinderella in blue, Aurora in light pink, tons of glitter, etc.) because those are the looks the public especially children associate with them. Once they've made their minifig debuts, down the line we could hopefully get minifigures that are more accurate to how they actually look in the movie. If the Star Wars, Marvel, DC, and Harry Potter characters can all get tons of variants of the same look, there's no reason why the classic Disney characters can't either. We've already gotten an updated Maleficent which was more movie accurate for the most part. Sorcerer Mickey is another character I'd like to see a new version of because the current one has way too much wrong with him: eyes that don't match the size of other Mickey eyes, yellow shoes instead of brown/tan, glitter all over, and no fabric tail to his robe.
  4. The floor of the castle seems especially disappointing. The gorgeous floor tiles from the original seem to be gone, as well as the flower vases, crests and shields, and even the suits of armor! It doesn't feel like a castle without suits of armor.
  5. Same, it's such a pity. I felt the same way about Aurora when the first image of the CMF series was leaked only to change my mind when I saw the actual figure in high res. Snow White's torso also looked darker in the castle pic which is more movie accurate than the standard shade of blue they seem to have actually used.
  6. When the Evil Queen minifigure was first leaked, it lacked a cape and collar as well in the leaked images. The early leaked images often aren't assembled correctly (Cinderella's skirt being put on backwards). It couldn't be Belle's skirt because Belle's skirt would have a sash draped around it with beads.
  7. How annoying, they threw cheap glitter all over her just like with Aurora. At least Aurora and Cinderella actually have magical dresses, there's no excuse for Snow White's dress to have glitter. If the cottage set ever comes out, I hope they don't reuse this Snow White but include a non-glitter version. The printing of the yellow skirt on the blue torso also leaves a lot to be desired. The line down her bodice should be beige like the bands under her sleeves.
  8. Good point, I considered that as well but I've only seen Raya once and I couldn't remember what the map from that movie looked like. Because the dragon is red, I assumed Mulan for its opening titles.
  9. Florian's hair is very inaccurate. Too flat and generic and too light a shade of brown. Flynn's hair color is how dark Florian's should have been. Snow White will need a red cape as well, but that's an easy fix with the Imperial Guard capes.
  10. I'll pick up Cinderella, Snow White, and their princes through BL. Snow White's colors seem to be movie accurate and I hope that's certainly the case in real life. I've noticed Rapunzel's hair doesn't seem very long though. The interior changes are interesting although not worth purchasing the set for. The kitchen seems expanded and explicitly Beauty and the Beast themed. Above that Rapunzel has her own room based on the tower. The room next to it seems to include an assortment of objects like the enchanted rose, genie lamp, a poster of Maui, and an oar either for Pocahontas or Moana. The ladder seems to lead to a bookshelf like the one from Beauty and the Beast. Above the spinning wheel and magic mirror rooms seems to be a room to showcase a glass slipper or storybook. The bottom floor has a Little Mermaid section, a pumpkin for Cinderella, the Sword in the Stone and a map that seems to be distinctly Chinese to represent Mulan. The forest section with orange and purple/pink seems to represent Pocahontas and her leaves.
  11. I find Hocus Pocus heavily overrated but this set does look marvelous and even with its hefty price, I think I'll probably pick it up at some point. The minifigures look wonderful and I love the design of the cottage. It's interesting that the original design had way more minifigures included. I always felt that was overkill so I'm glad they whittled the lineup down to just the core characters, but I'm seeing online that people are upset at the various characters who were excluded. Also can't wait to see the finished Nightmare Before Christmas set even if it'll be a year or so before that is ready to be unveiled.
  12. I think it's cute and I really like the Steamboat Willie tile.
  13. At the risk of sounding rude, not that it stopped you, but you clearly didn't read my post if that's the take you got from it since I said the exact opposite. Do not be so quick to vilify especially next time.
  14. I thought they were books too when I first saw the leaked images but it became apparent to me they were VHS tapes from other people's comments. It is a little strange that the depictions of Jafar and Maleficent on the VHS tapes pop out a little and aren't flat surfaces. I don't normally care for buildable figure sets but I really do like this one and will be gladly picking it up on release date. I've been disappointed with most of the Disney sets that have been confirmed or released so far which makes this easily my favorite. The inclusion of Wendy and her brothers on the pocket watch does make me hope that we'll get minifigures for them soon. Same with Prince Eric on the VHS tape and Ariel in her pink dinner gown and blue dress (even if her torso shouldn't be black but navy blue). The fact that we got a revamped Maleficent and a Genie Jafar without the headpiece makes me wonder if we should expect a new Genie figure in a future set but without the headpiece. Maybe Genie with legs will be included in the Agrabah microscale set.
  15. I like Walt Disney but not enough to pay $100 for a camera to get him.
  16. The colors are atrocious and it's particularly a lost opportunity since this was the year they finally released Cinderella on 4K with a proper restoration and it's original colors.
  17. Very good point. I love the MOC figure you made btw! I think they went with yellow because in the parks and some merchandise he has yellow/golden shoes which might also explain the sparkles, something else I didn't care for since while his hat may be magical, his robes are not. I also thought the printing of the yellow on his shoes was abysmal. Compare him to the Mickey from the first CMF series where the yellow is nice and smoothly rounded around the front and sides of his legs. For the new Sorcerer Mickey figure, you can see the black edges that break up the yellow printing. While some characters have been done really well in this new series (ex. the Robin Hood characters, Pinocchio, Pocahontas, Queen of Hearts, etc.), the others just have a lot of weird changes or bad quality control. I felt the first two Disney CMF series were a lot more consistent in quality and more movie accurate. I haven't seen anyone bring up Mulan but there are several weird choices for her as well. In the movie, she has very tanned/olive skin which is even more obvious when she's wearing the white face paint to contrast against her neck and hands. The new Asian skin tone used in the Shang-Chi sets and the Cho Chang polybag would have been perfect for Mulan but they opted for the lighter, more inaccurate skin tone. Then the black hairpiece they used would be a great fit for Mulan...at the beginning of the movie. She has short, shoulder-length hair by the end when she's wearing her blue dress but they just recycled the long hair piece they've been using for her minidolls. Then there's also the fact that her blue dress should have a skirt piece, but they opted for regular legs instead. If they wanted to give her legs so she could be posable for action poses, they should have used one of her army looks instead. In fact, it's symbolic that she saves China wearing a dress and using a fan instead of a sword, since both were symbols of femininity, but that emphasis is robbed by giving her regular legs here. Even the minidoll made sure to give her a dress in her blue outfit. I agree with you about Robin Hood. I think with Prince John, the fact that the tail should come out from under his robes is why they couldn't implement it but I think even in the movie, his tail is not very visible most of the time unlike Robin Hood's. Jiminy's size doesn't bother me because they did the same thing for Chip 'n' Dale as well as Tweety in the Looney Tunes series. Jiminy is also a full-size character who walks around in the Disney Parks (like Chip 'n' Dale). I agree that John Smith should have been included with Pocahontas especially since if the other princesses are getting their princes, she should get hers too. I've heard a lot of people complaining about Mulan's sword as well. The lantern piece they used for Cri-Kee in the Princess minidoll set actually would have been a more accurate choice, but in a reddish brown color, than the strange contraption they came up with. Personally I would rather have seen Lilo than Moana in the Disney Train set. Mickey in the microscale set is specifically based off of his vintage look in the Disney Parks so it makes sense that he would look different there. For Sorcerer Mickey, I even went back to Fantasia to see if maybe the animation drew him with larger pupils but that wasn't the case. It's even more ironic because his look in Fantasia was when Mickey was redesigned into the appearance we know him best for having today so if any minifigure should have gotten his look right, it should have been this one.
  18. Monsters, Inc. is one of the sets currently pending for approval in the latest batch that was just announced. Out of all the Pixar films, it's the most major one not to have any Lego representation so far since we already have Toy Story, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, WALL-E, Up, Brave, and Coco all in some shape or form. Ratatouille is the other major omission.
  19. I'm more disappointed with Mickey. His pupils are so big they take up almost all the space of his eyes. Previous Mickey and Minnie minifigures had pupils only half the height of his eyes. It not only makes Mickey inconsistent with any Minnie or other Mickeys but also makes him look like one of the Chinese knockoff figures.
  20. I would love to see a full-scale replica of Notre Dame with Quasimodo, Esmeralda, Phoebus, Djali, the gargoyles, and Frollo.
  21. Belle has four dresses in her movie so even if she's in the castle set in her gold ballgown (with either the Prince or the Beast), they could put her in a heroes set with another one of her looks. For that matter, even if the Beast is the one in the castle set, they still could use the Beast again in one of his other outfits because he has several as well. Even the Prince has his transformation look and then his formal outfit. I don't think King Triton popping up in the recent set precludes him from appearing in another set in his animated form. It is unlikely that we'd get multiple versions of him since he's not a hugely popular character, but I don't think it's impossible either. Especially if a potential heroes companion set isn't released until much later on. And we could easily get another villains set as well. There are still several villains left like Lady Tremaine, Frollo, Madame Medusa, Stromboli, Governor Ratcliffe, Pete, the Horned King, Madam Mim, Mother Gothel, Prince Hans, or even Vanessa. That's only if the set is for sure going to be made. Also, it's far more common to see an individual dwarf in Disney merchandise, typically either Dopey or Grumpy. I've rarely ever seen merchandise where they only include one of the fairies. They're typically a package deal. Including only 1/3 is a lot more egregious than 1/7 imo. A bit like only making one of the Three Little Pigs or making Tweedledee but not Tweedledum. Although an easy fix for the fairies would be to make a fairies set as the companion set. We've already gotten tons of Tinker Bells but there's still the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella, the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio, and then Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty. In theory they could just include the three Sleeping Beauty fairies with either the Blue Fairy or Fairy Godmother or just "splurge" and include 5 minifigures instead of 4.
  22. I wonder if a companion set would feature the protagonists who oppose the villains. Belle, the Beast, the Prince, or Maurice instead of Gaston Prince Ali Aladdin, Purple or Red Outfit Jasmine, Genie, or the Sultan instead of Jafar Prince Phillip, Blue Dress Aurora, or Briar Rose instead of Maleficent (I can't see them only including one of the Three Good Fairies) Rags Snow White, Prince Florian, or one of the Seven Dwarfs instead of the Witch Human Ariel, Prince Eric, or King Triton instead of Ursula
  23. I like that Maleficent has more movie accurate printing on her torso and new skirt piece. I'm not a fan of her new face though. The one raised eyebrow look seems more accurate to the modern CGI Disney characters like Elsa. Her eye makeup was more accurate on the old figure as well. Maybe it's the lighting of the photos, but it seems like her horns headpiece won't be rubber anymore which is an improvement. Looking at Jafar up close, I can see why they couldn't use the headpiece with the pointed ears because his eyebrows extend up so high that they'd be covered up. The gold stud doesn't look bad on him but he won't match Genie at all. The Sleeping Beauty VHS cover looks great. The Little Mermaid VHS tape is the most intriguing because it gives us a glimpse of what a human Ariel minifigure might look like, both in her pink dress and her blue dress. Not to mention the Prince Eric figure.
  24. That looks much better! I love the addition of the car, chimney smoke, and a real fence. The original house by itself is far too small for my taste.
  25. Thank you for posting, it looks wonderful!
