  1. There are still dozens if not hundreds of characters left. Quasimodo, Esmeralda, Phoebus, Frollo, Clopin, Geppetto, Blue Fairy, Honest John, Gideon, Stromboli, March Hare, Mad Hatter, White Rabbit, King of Hearts, Tweedledum, Tweedledee, Ariel's sisters, Prince Eric, King Triton, Vanessa, John Smith, Governor Ratcliffe, Chief Powhatan, Nakoma, Kocoum, Thomas, Mowgli, Baloo, King Louie, Shanti, Pete, Ludwig Von Drake, Clarabelle Cow, Horace Horsecollar, Clara Cluck, Clarice, Max Goof, Mickey's nephews, Gus Goose, Grandma Duck, Jose Carioca, Panchito Pistoles, Rasoul, Sultan, Maurice, LeFou, Bimbettes, King Stefan, Queen Leah, King Hubert, Flora, Fauna, Merryweather, Lady Tremaine, Drizella, Anastasia, Fairy Godmother, Grand Duke, the King from Cinderella, Humbert the Huntsman, Mother Gothel, Madame Medusa, Penny, Bernard, Miss Bianca, Mr. Smee, Wendy Darling, Michael Darling, John Darling, Maid Marian, Little John, Merlin, Arthur, Madam Mim, Milo, Kida, Lilo, Nani, David, Angel, Pleakley, Jumba, Rafiki, Timothy Mouse, Big Bad Wolf, Three Little Pigs, Mary Poppins, Bert, Penguin Waiter, Jane Banks, Michael Banks, Mr. Banks, Mrs. Banks, Roger Rabbit, Jessica Rabbit, Judge Doom, Horned King, Taran, Eilonwy, Gurgi, Basil, Ratigan, Kristoff, Prince Hans, Owl, Kanga, Roo, Christopher Robin, Gopher, and Yen Sid. Disney also owns the rights to Anastasia (1997) now and has been making merchandise for that so you could add Anya, Dimitri, Vlad, Rasputin, Empress Marie, and Sophie. And that's not including alternate costumes or looks for the characters we already have minifigures of. They could easily do a CMF series just on Mickey himself in all his different looks throughout the decades. Perhaps for his 100th birthday that's coming up in 5 years.
  2. Oh you're right. It's the pudding Aunt Petunia makes. It looked familiar to me but I really thought it was some microscale building I couldn't recognize. I don't care for brickbuilt characters but Dobby does look quite cute.
  3. What's the building by WWW? It's black and gray so I thought it might be Borgin and Burkes but it has a completely different shape. WWW looks okay but not that different from what we got in Diagon Alley. The Weasley face looks a lot better though so they seemed to address that complaint from the DA set. Hagrid is confirmed part of the Hogwarts/Hogsmeade Station set. I can't see if Fang is there and I think that's Harry in front of Hagrid. At least the train has two compartment cars. The Hogwarts set does seem to be the Entrance Hall. With a courtyard to match. Quite impressive looking imo and can't wait to get a closer look. I also can't tell what the little white and purple "building" is in between Dobby and the patronus stag. I don't see Lupin's wolf patronus either unless the thing portruding out from the stag is the wolf's snout on the left.
  4. These buildable object sets must sell really well for Lego to make so many of them. I've never bought any of the Harry Potter ones so it's somewhat bittersweet that the Disney line has been infected with this trend too but I'll take it for those specific minifigures. In fact, at this rate I think I'd rather they have done something similar for all the major princesses like Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, and Rapunzel because it would be cheaper to get them that way than to pay $400 to get them as part of an unnecessary castle remake.
  5. That user correctly leaked the current Harry Potter wave so their veracity isn't in doubt. There was another user on this thread who did claim to have leaked The Little Mermaid D2C set and they've also implied that we are getting human Ariel in this new castle set, but others have said that user isn't reliable. So I can't say anything about human Ariel, but Belle for sure is confirmed. And like you said, she's been one of the most requested characters so the only reason I wouldn't expect to see her in this new castle set would be if Lego was planning on making a Beauty and the Beast set. For Rapunzel and Flynn, if they don't make it into the castle set, my guess is that it's because Lego is planning a Rapunzel Tower set. But it does seem like Lego is using this castle set to include all the princesses they haven't made yet. I'd normally be worried about Lego shoehorning in Mickey and Minnie as well (they technically do play the roles of prince and princess in a lot of merchandise) but the Reddit user who actually saw the set and first confirmed Cinderella and her prince claimed that all the minifigures he saw were princes and princesses. If he had seen Mickey and Minnie, he probably would have recognized them. It does seem like an odd choice from Lego though to exclude any of the Mickey characters.
  6. I have no space to display them so I keep them in kitchen or bathroom cabinets for storage so I don't have to take them apart and can pull them out whenever I want. It's also a good way of keeping them dust-free.
  7. @bRICKbRAT confirmed sometime back that we were getting Gaston and Belle. They never said anything about Beast, but my guess is that the castle set will have Belle and Beast. That leaves one last couple which is probably Rapunzel and Flynn.
  8. Thank you for confirming that. I saw the card on there but I couldn't tell what was printed on it. The Queen of Hearts makes perfect sense. My only regret is that Lady Tremaine (Cinderella's stepmother) couldn't be included as well. Also it's interested that for the witch, her hair is printed on her torso to make it seem like it's protruding from her hood rather than a new hood piece which would include her hair actually trailing down. I'm really not a fan of buildable objects at all, but the minifigures make this set a must have. I'm very curious to see more of the storybooks and if they have any special designs on the cover and I do admit to having some nostalgic fondness for the VHS tape. Hopefully the witch's inclusion here and Snow White's prince's inclusion in the castle set means the cottage set is still going to be made since I remember most people were hoping those two characters would be included. Maleficent's inclusion here even though she's also supposed to be in the dragon set still works since she's so popular that I can't imagine Lego would have excluded her from a villains set.
  9. Thank you, I saw on another Instagram post that the real prices were mentioned so I amended my post as well so as not to confuse anyone.
  10. Not interested in the buildable figures set but I love that it includes Meeko and Percy from Pocahontas. I'm confused about Percy's color though. He's white/light gray in the movie but he looks cream colored here. Apparently it's $45. The collectible VHS set only interests me for the minifigures. I think someone said it costs $130 which I'm reluctantly willing to pay for since the figures combined would cost way more. We knew Gaston was confirmed so it's nice to see him. I always wanted the Witch and genie Jafar so I'm glad they're included especially since this means we'll get another Aladdin character for the Agrabah palace microscale set. This new Maleficent figure looks a lot better. It's weird to see her without the cape but they seem to have decided her robes being printed on is more accurate and the colors are certainly more accurate (purple and pink, not just purple as before). Nice to see a more movie-accurate staff and a skirt piece instead of the slope piece. So for objects, we're getting a poisoned apple, matching Aladdin and Sleeping Beauty storybooks, a premium Beauty and the Beast storybook, a VHS tape for The Little Mermaid, and the clock from Peter Pan that the crocodile swallows.
  11. Maybe because it's a D2C set so it'll presumably be on shelves long after the 100 Years celebration is over. If this new castle is meant to be the new flagship set as Promobricks said, it might not be branded as part of the 100 celebration either. My feelings exactly lol. With every bit of news we get, I feel myself losing more and more interest in this castle which seems to be more of a cynical cash grab. I think most people thought this would be an entirely new castle but this seems to be more akin to the Death Star situation. When the first Death Star was retired, they immediately brought it back with slightly updated minifigures, a few minor changes to the build, and a $100 markup. The train retired a year before the castle did. I have no idea if they intend to release a new version or not to replace it, even if it's not a train but a different park attraction. I don't think the train sold very well because the first year it was out, it was heavily marked down for Black Friday which might explain the lack of a remake. I think the other $100 sets might be the buildable Lumiere and Cogsworth.
  12. Same because I'm not interested in a remake of a castle I already own. But I know Goofy sells for around $85 and Tinker Bell I think was in the $100s so I would hate to have to pay all that much for the exclusive characters. Paying $400 for the overall set might be cheaper in the long run. Let's hope not.
  13. Even the name "Snow White" doesn't seem to be very accurate anymore. And the leads themselves seem to be almost gleeful in sharing how different this version is. The prince's actor has confirmed that Snow White will be saving him, not the other way around, like that's such a novel concept when just about every fairy tale remake in the last two decades has featured some variation of that. Not to mention there are plenty of classic fairy tales where the princess does save the prince, Snow White just isn't one of them. Meanwhile the actress playing Snow White has lambasted the original character multiple times, calling her outdated and weak and how she's "fixing" the character and there won't be a romance anymore because the prince is a "predator." I think people would be less ticked off at the remakes getting sets if it wasn't for the fact that we have very few Disney sets as it is and there are still so many Disney characters who we haven't gotten in minifigure format. So every time a classic character, whether one of the Seven Dwarfs, King Triton, or Wendy Darling, get announced but then it turns out to be a minidoll or based off of a live-action remake that will have no longevity, it feels especially insulting. If we actually had a Snow White cottage set based on the original, I don't think anyone would really care if they made a new one on the remake but now it seems we'll be lucky to get even one and it'll probably just be for the remake. Besides this rumor that Snow White might be in the castle set, the fact that Prince Phillip is rumored as well seems to be another nail in the coffin for the leaked survey sets. I feel Disney would have saved those characters as exclusives for their respective survey sets rather than introduce them first elsewhere. Yes, sounds like you're better off spending your money elsewhere lol. I have the money saved for the $400 Disney Castle but I'm just waiting to get a look at the minifigures and castle to see if I'm better off spending that money on Harry Potter sets that'll be retiring soon. I have a nagging suspicion I'll end up turning back to Harry Potter after all.
  14. Thanks for confirming. I didn't realize it was part of that article. The fact that it's being labeled as a reissue of the previous Disney Castle but with more blue and gold pieces is a little annoying. Without seeing it right now, it's impossible to say, but its sounding like the only real draw to this set if you have the original will be the exclusive minifigures. And based on the choices listed, there doesn't even seem to be that many exclusive minifigures. It'll be even more annoying if someone like Aurora is lifted straight from the CMF series. I'm not sure $400 is worth a couple of new minifigures even knowing how expensive they'll likely be on the secondary market. I thought about the Three Good Fairies for a Sleeping Beauty Castle set. In theory, Aurora's fairies plus Cinderella's fairy godmother combined could fill four slots. The reliable user who leaked the HP line this year has confirmed that we'll be getting Belle and Gaston somewhere but there was no mention of the Beast and I don't think Gaston would be included in this set since he's a villain. Meanwhile the user who claimed to have leaked the Little Mermaid set claimed that this set will feature Ariel as a human, but I'm not sure how reliable he actually is. Based on the pattern this year, you're probably right that the Snow White cottage set will be be based off of the cheap remake. And the dwarfs won't even be dwarfs in that but generic magical creatures so we'll likely never get Dopey, Grumpy, Doc, and all the others.
  15. We are still missing Belle, Rapunzel, and Merida. So maybe some combination of them with their princes although Merida has none. Cinderella's fairy godmother and stepfamily could also take the last four slots. I'm more curious about Snow White because her inclusion here makes me think the Snow White cottage isn't likely going to happen. Then again, even if Snow White isn't an exclusive minifigure, the seven dwarfs would all be but I still feel this doesn't bode well for a cottage set. I'm wondering if Lego only had a prototype for the cottage set but never actually planned on making it especially since I still have seen absolutely no merchandise for any of the seven dwarfs to celebrate 100 years of Disney. Where did you find this information btw? I can't find it on the Instagram hashtag, the Reddit thread, the Promobricks website or any of their YouTube channels.
  16. The difference is that Twilight's show is a spinoff show set in the same universe as the movies and not a remake. The Hunger Games has a prequel movie coming out soon (and it looks awful but it's set in the same universe as the movies). New LOTR movies have been confirmed but there's not much information on whether they will be remakes or continuations of the original movies. HP is getting its legacy entirely wiped out with a complete reboot. I find that unforgivable.
  17. How would that work with the front doors though? They'd be on the ground floor of the exterior and have to lead to the lobby but the lobby would be on a higher floor?
  18. We've never gotten any of the outfits that the characters wear at Bill and Fleur's wedding in Deathly Hallows, and since the Burrow D2C set from the survey leak didn't mention anything about including the wedding, it seems unlikely we'll get a set like that anytime soon. I think a CMF series or advent calendar could easily provide the trio in their outfits, not to mention a few other notable characters like Luna and her father. Voldemort may not pop up a lot in sets but Dumbledore does so a custom wand just for him wouldn't be all that crazy imo. It must be an exciting line of work, even if all the departments are kept separate so you really don't know what's going on next door. I remember that lol. I'm not even a fan of Emma Roberts so I'm not sure why I used her name instead of Emma Watson. Emma Watson seems to get linked to her namesakes a lot. For example, she was the original choice for La La Land but had to turn it down because she was already committed to Beauty and the Beast, so Emma Stone got the role (and an Oscar to boot) instead. And then for Little Women, Emma Stone was set to play Meg but she dropped out and Emma Watson got the role. And Emily Watson has said that she's been mistaken for Emma Watson multiple times and she's so flattered that she always plays along.
  19. Oh wow, that's really interesting! Do you know anything else about the project, like if it was meant to showcase the original actors or were they being recast? It seems strange to me though that WB would go ahead and start production when JKR herself said no to a film adaptation unless that was just a rumor. Could it also be possible that this Cursed Child adaptation was really just the reboot and the people you know got them mixed up? I'd much rather see a Cursed Child film with the original cast than a whole new reboot.
  20. That was just a rumor. Cursed Child isn't in development, especially now with the reboot coming out. JK Rowing said no to a movie version because it would harm the play financially and also the original cast has refused to return, mainly Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Roberts.
  21. The Snow White snub is pretty insulting since we got a great Lego Ideas submission for it. The same goes for Up since they've rejected it so many times but ended up making one of their own, which is also nice but not nearly as expansive as the submissions. And I feel terrible for the Ratatouille submission which has always been incredibly popular and reached 10,000 votes numerous times, yet always gets rejected, likely at Disney's behest. If the Snow White cottage set really is being saved for a remake, I know I won't be touching it. I'm not sure how it'll even work since this remake won't even be using dwarfs but generic magical creatures instead because Disney is so afraid of offending. I've also noticed that so far none of the new Disney sets have featured Buzz Lightyear. We got Woody in the train set but there's been zero sign of Buzz and I almost wonder if it's because Lego doesn't even want to bother after how poorly the sets for his movie sold. Perhaps Lego feels he needs a break, until the next Toy Story movie. I got my hopes up for a Wendy minifigure a second time around after we got news there's another Peter Pan set incoming, but I'll need to stifle those feelings since more than likely it'll just be a set for the dull and lifeless remake.
  22. There are a great deal of British actors left who never starred in Harry Potter like Judi Dench, Vanessa Redgrave, Michael Caine, Jeremy Irons, Helen Mirren, etc. But look at their ages. Michael Caine is 90 I believe. Judi Dench is 88, the same age as Maggie Smith, and Vanessa Redgrave is 86. And I'm not sure even if you took their ages aside that they'd be interested in starring in HP if they didn't the first time around. Mirren at least did the Harry Potter game show. I know Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant were supposed to be in the original movies, or Grant was anyway but Kate Winslet's agent refused on her behalf. For most of the elite British talent, they hardly need a boost to their careers let alone from a show like this. For any fledgling or neophyte actors, I can't imagine they'd ever compare to the likes of Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Richard Harris, Gary Oldman, Emma Thompson, Imelda Staunton, Ralph Fiennes, etc. You've just admitted then that teenagers can be unlikable. No one said that Harry wasn't justified in being unlikable but he was unlikable nonetheless. The movies didn't beat it over the head how angsty he was, especially in OOTP when he's exploding in anger every few pages (something even Ron, Hermione, and Ginny note). JKR had the books planned way in advance. She knew about Snape's characterization from the beginning so it makes no sense your explanation that the movies were made in hindsight of Snape's secret whereas the books weren't. If JKR could tell Alan Rickman during the first movie, it's because she already knew herself while writing all the books but any book fans can tell you that Snape was far more pompous (even preening in PoA when he believes he will win an award from Fudge for catching Black) and unsympathetic such as when he demeans Hermione's appearance in Goblet of Fire after she's cursed by Draco. I don't know why you're taking it so personally that some of the characters could be less sympathetic in the books vs the movies.
  23. Very true. Disney is losing cultural clout and their last releases have all been box office underperformers if not outright disasters. Disney abused their family friendly reputation that they've retained for decades and has violated the trust of their audience to the point that I see the Facebook moms groups all saying that no longer will they feel safe blindly showing Disney films to their children. The days of Disney being babysitting fodder are over. Like you said, the amount of discounted Buzz Lightyear toys is a testament to Disney's fallen status. It's not just the Lego sets, even at the Disney Store, all the Lightyear items were heavily marked off and still they couldn't give them away for free. It's no coincidence that immediately Disney/Pixar announced a Toy Story 5 as well as Frozen 3 to try and demonstrate a return to form.
  24. A major element of the movies was that the youth were bolstered up by Britain's greatest talent. This show will not have the advantage of that. Even the British thespians who never worked in the original HP and could potentially be available for this are unlikely due to the fact that most of them are too old now to be guaranteed for 10 years straight or they probably have no interest especially if they weren't in HP the first time, why would they be in a streaming show knockoff? And I agree with you that as much as I love the books, the characters aren't always the best there. Harry is very unlikable in OOTP and the way Harry and Ron treat Hermione can be outright nasty. Harry at times doesn't even seem to like Hermione, just tolerate her, like in GoF and Deathly Hallows, when he's not on good terms with Ron and rather than appreciate Hermione's loyalty, he just moans about missing Ron. Snape was given for more depth and sympathy thanks to Alan Rickman's portrayal. People keep trying to justify this show by claiming it will be book accurate, but what's the guarantee that this will be word for word accurate for every book? For everything that they do make to be book accurate, I'm sure there'll be just as much that won't be. Another thing to keep in mind is that when the movies came out, the only thing they could be compared to was the books. Now this show will not only be compared to the books but also the movies so there will be plenty of stuff the movies got right which I'm sure the show will fail at. Many HP fans, especially book fans, think this show will be a magical fix for all the stuff they missed in the movies but there's never a perfect adaptation and this will certainly not be the first. From what I've noticed, HP merchandise is selling better than ever even more than 10 years after the last movie. There's been a renaissance of HP merchandise, not just in Lego but for anything HP related, and I don't think there was even this much merchandise available when the movies were being released. In an instant, WB will kill that for a reboot which is not guaranteed to win over a new generation but pretty much is guaranteed to turn away fans of the movies. I expect HP merchandise sales will plummet the moment this reboot takes over. WB may not have a stake in the Universal theme parks and HP lands there, but they'll surely feel it when everything else HP related stops selling because there is no real demand for a reboot. The show has only just been confirmed and already WB is getting defensive about the public outrage over it and trying to justify the reboot's existence. I'm just hoping there's enough public outcry that they quietly let this fizzle out.
