Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

This does bode well for getting comic versions of the FF. I've always been a proponent for getting Ben as a big fig instead of a regular minifig. But I know often that what we see in the Lego movies and shorts doesn't always end up manifesting into a physical minifigure so it's not a 100% confirmation either. Still, here's hoping. It's a good sign. Would love to see Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Hawkeye in their classic comic outfits as well. A much needed upgraded classic Thor although I doubt we'd get dual molded legs for him. Do you think Kang would show up in the Baxter Building? That's definitely another incentive for a comic version of the BB instead of an MCU version. -

Lol I can see that happening. Especially since it can be argued that Cyclops' minifig should have been dark blue. -

Gambit looks great in the trailer. What a pity the real minifigure doesn't look like that with dual molded legs. At least the hair piece is an easy swap. Dazzler was a nice surprise but I doubt we'll ever see an official minifigure of her. It is pretty sad that out of the 8/10 minifigures we've had a clear look at (not including Iceman and Bishop since they're both still pretty blurry), pretty much all of them are lacking and the cheapest versions of themselves. Only Jean looks more or less like she couldn't be improved. Otherwise no dual molding for Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit, Cyclops, and Magneto, and a rather lazily done Professor X. I guess Storm has the new cape so that's a plus in her favor but that's it. Lol, I should have understood that from the start. I didn't think it could get worse than the plain blue legs from the X-Jet set but this printing looks so shoddily done that they really shouldn't have even bothered. Will be needing Morph in the next CMF now more than ever so we can get a proper set of legs to replace these ones for Cyclops. -

Cerebro is a really big disappointment. I was expecting a new molded helmet like how it looks in the show. I understand the actual wires/plugs might have been too difficult to incorporate but considering how iconic the Cerebro helmet is, it shouldn't have been asking much to get a new mold for it. Online, I'm seeing people say the Cerebro we did get looks like a lampshade lol. -

The X-Mansion looks great. Can't wait to see more of the interior even if the Danger Room looks a little cramped. The minifigs are really badly done though. Xavier should have been in green. They didn't try at all with Wolverine, Magneto, Gambit, and Cyclops' legs. That's not such a problem with Wolverine since the CMF figure exists but the others look so cheaply made as well as Rogue. I have no idea what's going on with Bishop but in another pic, he seems more detailed. I do like that Jean has pink power effects instead of blue from the show. Was hoping Iceman would have an ice slide though. The Civil War battle set seems really disappointing especially after the original set. Not a fan of how they constructed Ant-Man. The Marvel logo set isn't all that inspired either. What's the Dark Phoenix reference? -

That explains it. I knew it was a fake but I assumed the blue blob was one of the real parts. Same here. I used to collect a lot of minimates but it was rather expensive to keep up (although Lego's even more expensive). Honestly, it feels like most of the X-Men characters need a CMF series to get the full attention they deserve. Rogue comes to mind as someone whose minifigure is horrifically bad with a set's basic budget. I would not like to see Phoenix get the Rogue treatment. I'm assuming the emphasis to keep Iceman white rather than light blue was also because of a desire to have him match Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends since we know the Lego designers really wanted Spidey, Iceman, and Firestar to all exist as minifigs. If we ever get another minifig of Iceman in the future, I can see it being him in light blue as he's depicted today. I'm with you completely on comic versions over MCU versions. Especially when it comes to that Silver Surfer abomination, if it turns out we get her minifig but not the real Surfer's after all this time. I can see how the GOTG3 set would have really annoyed you that it was so close to being comic accurate, minus the little details like Mantis' skin tone (although I always preferred her not being green since I prefer her from the Steve Engleheart Avengers comics) and Drax's patterns. I don't think the X-Men set has a GWP. We would have known about it by now if there was one right? I also think a Sentinel would be better off as its own set but according to some rumors here, there might not be any X-Men sets in 2025. Not until Lego sees how well the X-Mansion sells. So we might have to take a rain check on that Sentinel set. -

Is the blue blob supposed to be Cyclops because I'm not seeing even a hint of yellow. Doesn't seem like they've changed his legs. -

Ditto on Phoenix. Would also like to see more accurate colors on her. Lime green for her torso (like Shaggy and Robin Hood) and pearl gold for her emblem, sash, boots, and gloves. A Dark Phoenix minifig, like featured in Lego Fortnite, would be great too. Iceman in the classic comics was mostly white rather than blue. His body was almost supposed to be translucent. When Beast, Iceman, and Angel joined the Defenders, they were color coded so that Beast was blue, Iceman white, and Angel red. It's only the modern comics with digital coloring, from the mid-90s onward, that make him light blue. You'll see Iceman in Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends and the 90s X-Men show was also white. What I'm seeing about the Galactus vs FF set online is that there's been some backtrack on if it's comic-based or not. Now it's being said that the MCU Galactus looks just like the comic Galactus so the leaker got confused and thought it was a comic-based set instead of MCU. Personally, I'm rooting for it to be a comic-inspired set but I'm guessing it'll be based on the MCU. The MCU set would also feature a female Silver Surfer instead of the real one so that's another reason to hope we're getting a comic version instead. And yes, I agree that we can get all types of Sue or Reed variants as minifigs. Johnny too with him being in flame on mode and not. The Fantastic Four minimates have done all types of variations for the FF. -

It might be a Lego thing. Sesame Street also had connection points indicating a future set could expand the street but that never ended up becoming a thing either. Maybe the Pooh and Sesame Street sets weren't as successful as they appeared? -

If they could include Jack as Sandy Claws with his sleigh and skeleton reindeer, that would be nice too. They were part of the original Lego Ideas submission but didn't make it into the final product. I can maybe see Dr. Finkelstein's Tower getting its own set...a big maybe on that. It's the only other building outside of Oogie Boogie's lair that gets any merchandise. I think this was also true for the Up house. I remember it was on backorder after release. I think the same was true for Snow White and Winnie the Pooh's sets but I don't remember clearly for those. Winnie the Pooh was also a set I thought was a best-seller with guaranteed future sets, especially since the Lego designers mentioned plans for expansion sets, but none of that ever materialized. -

The shoulder pads for the X-Men characters seem heavily restricting. Storm's shoulder pads, from the CMF minifig, only work with her mohawk. With the long hair, like in the X-Mansion set, it seems they've had to remove the shoulder pads. Similarly, the shoulder pads for Jean work with her ponytail. But if you want to swap her hairpiece out to give her loose hair, the shoulder pads won't fit anymore. -

I think Mowgli and Baloo are long overdue. Would love to see the entire Tremaine family plus the Fairy Godmother as we're seriously lacking in Cinderella minifigs. Similarly, would want to see Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather along with Prince Phillip. I feel Oogie Boogie is very likely due to all the negative feedback about his exclusion from TNBC set (RIP Ken Page, Oogie Boogie's VA who just passed away). I can see him being paired with either Dr. Finkelstein or Jack in his Sandy Claws outfit (I'm assuming the latter will be unlikely if they keep him with the long legs). The Hunchback of Notre Dame characters are #1 on my wishlist though: Quasimodo, Esmeralda, and Frollo. Would love to see Phoebus and Clopin too, but the first three are a must. Yes, I agree although the lack of any diorama sets since Peter Pan makes me wary that we'll get anymore. But King Triton is definitely a character better suited for a CMF series. -

I agree with you there. Some versions of minifigs are better than none at all. And certainly better than the wrong versions. I'm constantly seeing merchandise for that remake marked down as much as possible because it's still not selling a year later. Much like the Lightyear toys before that. I'm guessing 2026 would be the earliest for another Disney CMF. But it'll probably be 12 minifigs now. I'm sure the last one only got 18 figures because it was the centennial. It's a $90 set that's supposed to come out in March. -

That's all right, real life always comes first and I wasn't expecting a prompt response anyway. Pixar still has romantic relationships in their films, like Elemental, so I think it's not a completely Disney-wide decree because of Lasseter. Especially since Lasseter was more tied to Pixar than Disney animation. I think Disney animation (and by extension, the live-action remakes) are where Disney is most hesitant about romantic relationships because those are the movies that have received the most scrutiny in the past. Hence the need to correct those films with such an extreme stance now. I wonder if Elle Fanning's Aurora being even worse in the Maleficent sequel was because it came out specifically in the era when Disney was hyperfixated on "fixing" their princesses like in the live-action BATB and Aladdin. The first Maleficent, along with Frozen, started the trend of overturning classic Disney tropes but actually rewriting the classic princesses only started afterwards. In general, I've found most of the live-action actors don't always have the best sentiments about the Disney movies they're remaking. Even Keira Knightley, a favorite of mine since her POTC days, made same rather tone-deaf comments about Snow White and The Little Mermaid while she was promoting The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. In contrast, the lead actress for Nutcracker, Mackenzie Foy, was very sweet and said Cinderella was her favorite princess. She deserved a better film. I really think in Emma's case it was Disney's attempts at bending over backwards to get her to do the movie. And hoping that with her feminist status, they could deflect criticisms of Stockholm Syndrome for Belle since Emma did address that in promotion. We know they tried to get her for Cinderella so clearly they had an interest in working with her long before BATB. I also remember reading that when surveys were conducted of BATB audiences for the number one reason they watched the movie, 30% of people said it was for Emma Watson. That number might seem low but generally speaking, 10% is the highest percentage of audiences that go to see a movie for a particular actor. So this was a case where it seems Disney and BATB needed Emma more than the other way around. Which is ironic now because I don't think Emma would have that same pull for any other movie. It seems like BATB, as big a success as it was, ended her career. She might have been wiser in the long run to have picked La La Land over it since she was first choice for that. I do remember that so much of the hype for this particular remake seemed to revolve around Emma being cast so that 30% sounds accurate to me. As beloved and nostalgic a film it was, I do feel there would have been less hype and less of a box office had it been any other actress cast. It was the Emma/BATB combination that seemed winning on paper but artistically and creatively, didn't quite work. If Emma was ruined by BATB, it can be argued that was reciprocated by BATB being ruined by Emma. From people who have followed Rachel Zegler for a while now, they say she has a tendency to be very brash and sometimes rude in her opinion, so I imagine she doesn't really mind offending people with her views on Snow White. Particularly with how criticisms of this being the "PC" Snow White is something she's proud of as she feels it was needed. Honestly, someone like Mackenzie Foy from the Nutcracker movie, would have been a better choice for Snow White in the long run, but my personal guess is that it wouldn't be the Snow White the Disney of today wants to make. If your minifigs for Mickey and the gang are basically the classic versions from the CMF, then the keychain Goofy is a better match for them than the Disney Parks versions from the original castle. Donald is the only one who strangely enough didn't get his Disney Parks outfit for the castle. They reused his classic look from the CMF series. He's got more of a sailor inspired outfit with white accents in the parks. It might be easier to find the train and only the train being sold online. I wonder if it would be cheaper in the long run to get the station separately as well, if you want the station too that is. Yes, the instruction booklet for the Disney Castle showed which movies were referenced in the easter eggs and Tangled is cited for the hair. Pocahontas and Mulan had no presence in the original castle. I never understand why they used black hair for Rapunzel since her hair turns brown. Maybe they don't have that hair available in any shade of brown so it was easier to just use black. I had high hopes for the Lilo & Stitch set but based on the price point and piece count, there's no way they can do that full house justice. And while I'm happy with the upcoming Belle minifig, the lack of attention on Geppetto and Lilo has been disappointing. I don't expect Geppetto will get a new figure anytime soon (if ever) to warrant legs with actual printing on them and I don't see why they couldn't have given Lilo dual molded arms to portray her sleeves. There's not much variety for her skin tone in Lego so there aren't any viable options. So I definitely feel what you feel that the new Lego Disney sets have been pretty disappointing and I don't expect that trend to change anytime soon. -

At this point, I'd consider it a win if we get even one new character in a future X-Men set although at least 2 new ones would be ideal. Jubilee I hope is saved for the next CMF because a bare-basic minifigure wouldn't do her justice. We're stuck with a lackluster Rogue for the same reason. Maybe. I know Alex Ross made a mural for classic Marvel characters from the 60s-80s period. He wanted to use Nick Fury but couldn't because classic Nick Fury is white unlike the MCU version who is now the most known Nick Fury. Ironically enough, Robbie Robertson's minifig in the Daily Bugle has a stronger resemblance to the Netflix Ben Urich. Which really just begs the question of why they tried to conflate the two characters in the first place. -

Yes, that was the explanation given for why MJ isn't in the Daily Bugle set. Because the MCU version also existed in sets and it would confuse people...only why can Peter Parker/Spider-Man exist in the Daily Bugle set if the Tom Holland Peter/Spidey is also in those MCU sets then? My guess is that either Marvel's dislike for MJ made them tell Lego not to include her. Or they wanted to cement the Zendaya portrayal as the real version of the character so they won't allow merchandise for the classic MJ. -

Electro was a member of the Frightful Four briefly. We know with the Daily Bugle that Lego created minifigs who they could reuse in smaller sets to make the new molds economically feasible. I could see a comic accurate Electro popping up in more Spidey sets if he was included in the next big D2C set, whether it's the Baxter Building or Oscorp Tower. -

Oh I would love that. I think it's a safer bet too because why make such an expensive D2C on a building from a film that may or may not be well received, especially when Marvel's on a such a downward slide. We got so many playscale Avengers Towers sets before we got the D2C version and that was despite the Avengers being a tried and tested franchise. Same with the Sanctum Sanctorum which only got a D2C after multiple films and one playscale set. I can't imagine there would be all that many minifigs that could be used in an MCU Baxter Building anyway. The comic version opens up endless possibilities. Besides the characters you listed, they can also include Franklin Richards, Valeria Richards, Hulk, She-Hulk, Willie Lumpkin, Iceman, Annihilus, the Wizard, the Puppet Master, Alicia Masters, Electro, Sandman, Klaw, Black Panther, the Inhumans, etc. There's a much greater variety of characters they can pull from. -

If this is a comic-based FF/Galactus set I'm all in. I didn't even bother looking up the rumors since I figured it was an MCU set but a comic version changes everything. The FF have long been overdue. This set will go very nicely with the Daily Bugle and X-Mansion. I wonder if we might get a Fantasticar to go with the FF. I'm also wondering the decision to make it a comic set is because the Lego developers really want a comic-book based Human Torch minifig to go with Spider-Man in the Daily Bugle. We know Iceman and the Human Torch were both on the shortlist but rejected. Now Lego has managed to make sure we'll get Iceman, even if he doesn't technically belong in an X-Men '97 set, so wondering if this is why the FF set is going to be comic-based. -

That's a pity. Angel would have been a good new character to include as well as he fits the Christmas theme. All of those builds are a great ideas. I think Iceman would be a fitting addition as well since there could be a build featuring an ice sculpture or snowman.
