  1. Thank you for posting! The face printing worries me a little though.
  2. I'm sorta nostalgic for the sand green Hogwarts roofs myself even if the dark grey roofs objectively look better and are more accurate. Also there were so many modular sets that I thought it wasn't worth the effort of buying so many pieces to swap the roof colors myself. I'll make do looking at the videos of the people who did put that money and effort in. I can't say I would recommend Raya as much as I did the live-action Jungle Book. But it's worth a watch at least once to see if any part of it resonates with you or if like most, the movie feels more like a time-pass. I also really liked the part about Mowgli using his skills as a human to be able to make inventions and all sorts of traps that animals couldn't do without opposable thumbs. Disney tried to do this with Belle as well, by making her a budding inventor instead of Maurice, but it doesn't end up leading to anything. At least Mowgli uses his skills to save the day. Belle's skills are brought up once and that's it. Yes, Eva Green would have been a much better choice than Scarlet. I think Scarlet was only cast because of her association with Disney through the MCU at that time. If Jungle Book had been a Tim Burton movie, then Eva Green would have been a shoe-in. Yes, I agree with you there! It's a rather luxurious dress taken in by itself. The movie really was a mess and I feel like the Frozen fandom still hasn't fully recovered from it yet. A lot of the momentum the franchise had was killed off by the sequel. We'll see if parts 3 and 4 help restore some of that goodwill. I was really upset that Genie Jafar was lacking the headpiece. It takes away consistency because if you put Genie and Genie Jafar's minifigs together, they just look off. I guess the Genie headpiece mold was retired and they didn't want to bring it back. For consistency sake, I've removed Genie's headpiece and given him the same hairstyle as Genie Jafar. Lego is already so expensive so when we get subpar products, it's even more disappointing. That's one of my issues with so many of the recent minifigures since last year, that so many of them are great and others are almost there but lacking in something or the other which keeps them from being perfect. I don't think this is just a Disney thing because I see the Marvel fans have the same gripes and sometimes the issues are worse over there. But Disney minifigs are already so rare that it's more disappointing because there's less of a chance of seeing a particular character redone. Only Steamboat Mickey and Willie have managed to have three separate minifigs so far. I'm not going to hold my breath if I'm being honest. Jennifer Lee's Frozen films so far have been very messy and I don't see that changing with the next two. They backtrack a lot on what they claim they'll do. After the first Frozen movie, when fans would ask about Elsa's origin and why she has powers, Disney said there was never going to be an origin story. Yet Frozen II tried to do exactly that. Santino Fontana also said he was promised Frozen II would focus on him and grant him a redemption arc, but in the final movie, he's not even included outside of some jokes about him. I know they're stating that Frozen III could bring back Hans but I'll believe it when I see it.
  3. You're welcome. I'm just glad you like the set so much that you want it. I'm wondering now if anyone else has recolored the new Disney castle. I know with the Hogwarts modular castle sets that some people did recolor the roofs to make them grey instead of sand-green. For what it's worth, I did enjoy the characters in Raya. The cast of characters makes a nice little family unit by the end, but online I mostly see people say there wasn't enough time to spend with them to feel anything so that was the popular consensus. And what I do agree on is that watching Raya, I couldn't help but feel that it needed to be a TV series as the plotline was scripted more like episodes in a seasonal format. So while the characters aren't the most fleshed out, they do have their charm. But I definitely liked it more than most people did which was the opposite in my case with Encanto. I'm so glad you enjoyed the live-action Jungle Book! I agree with everything you said. I found Mowgli a lot more interesting in this version since he's given an actual personality rather than petulant little boy in the first one. Feels a lot more sympathetic especially since he has an actual emotional connection to his family, the wolves. That's something about the original I found hard to believe that he leaves his wolf family but he never thinks about them or mentions them ever again. He meets Baloo and by the next day, his only emotional connection on leaving the jungle is Baloo. I didn't have an issue with Christopher Walken's talk-singing but I definitely felt that ScarJo was miscast. Her Kaa did not work for me and I wish they had cast someone else. I really like the fur on the Snow Queen designs from concept art and I know the white ferret coat you mean. I think that's partly why I don't like Elsa in the fur because I feel she isn't good enough to wear it like the original Snow Queen lol. I wish I could properly answer your question if all the focus on Elsa in Frozen II pays off or not, but tbh the movie's plot is so muddled that it's really hard to even come up with an answer. The storyline tries to introduce a bunch of mythos but none of it goes anywhere and a lot of it just seems like mumbo jumbo. To give you an idea of how convoluted the plot is without sharing spoilers, Elsa's motivation is that she hears a voice telling her to journey to a mystical land where that voice is waiting for her. At the end, she has a song which is basically this movie's Let It Go. The filmmakers confirmed in the Frozen II making-of documentary that when they were writing the song, they realized they never came up with who the voice is. It was never actually important to the story, it was just a plot device/mystery box. And watching the movie, you realize that more or less everything that happens really has no significance attached to it and most viewers came out still confused about what exactly they saw. On top of it, a lot of things got changed last minute after negative test screenings so there's even more ambiguity because most of the significant things that were supposed to happen were cut out. Olaf was supposed to die originally. Obviously this had to be changed because how can they sell merchandise for him then. In one test screening, Elsa was supposed to sacrifice herself but the ending would hint she'd return in the sequel. Apparently Bob Iger nixed this because he wasn't going to kill off Disney's biggest cash cow. And Arendelle was supposed to be destroyed in a massive flood due to its participation in colonialism, but the castle would be rebuilt in the indigenous style. I think this was nixed because Arendelle is being built in some of the theme parks around the world and so that wouldn't synergize with this new castle design. Elsa's character development and journey is pretty divisive amongst Frozen fans, many who feel she was OOC, so I don't know if that answers your question but most Frozen fans weren't happy. I think the only ones who didn't mind were hardcore Elsa stans who liked the central focus on her in the film plus the rather ambiguous mythology also being shaped around her character. I really liked the new Maleficent minifig we got in the Villains set, so I wouldn't mind seeing some old characters updated too. And that makes sense that maybe it's the gold reflecting printing that's just shining and so it makes the lining not fully visible in that particular shot. That's very sweet of you to want to share your designs with everyone. I'm sure there would be quite a bit of demand, certainly in this forum! This is very cleverly done! Using Dale's body is rather ingenious.
  4. Is the issue with Ronin that he isn't family friendly enough since he goes around killing people? I'm wondering if that's why Lego hasn't made a minifig of Clint as Ronin yet.
  5. Oh I'm glad to hear you've been won over to get the Pooh set! You won't regret it. I prefer the original castle's color scheme too. It's just much more pleasing on the eyes and really feels more like a real castle. The new one seems way too sugary and bright for me like a child painted it. Good point that the color scheme feels more geared towards Aurora than Cinderella. That's why I don't mind the pink on the Sleeping Beauty castles in Anaheim and Paris but the almost salmon-color pink used for the Cinderella castle now feels garish. A few of the things I liked from the new set, like the glass slipper exhibit, Chef Bouche (the kitchen from Beauty and the Beast), and the sword in the stone, I did get the pieces for online so I could add them to the original castle. I'm guessing it would be very costly to go back and swap all the castle exterior pieces to match the original one and I wonder if all the pieces would even have corresponding colors since the new one is taller and has a slightly different design. Glad to hear you're slowly recovering! Your confusion on how to feel about a movie like Raya when so much is crammed in, is more or less how I felt after watching it. Most people said it was difficult to feel invested in any of the characters because we don't spend enough time with the gang. And even up to the last minute, the gang keeps getting new additions. I believe the 2005 Snow Queen series was the BBC version. I haven't seen that one but it looks promising. The Frozen Fever dress is even weirder because somehow Elsa's ice magic is able to turn her dress green and add the pink flowers on top. That never made sense to me at all. By the time the dark blue Christmas dress came out, I was over seeing another reskinned version of the same dress. The fur trimming was nice although also a bit odd for someone who never feels cold. The deleted scenes for Frozen II mostly focus on Anna and Kristoff. It's clear that the final movie decided to push Elsa while getting rid of all the other characters' subplots which could take screentime away from her. As a result, everyone else in the movie is just kinda there with nothing to do but support Elsa. None of the new characters leave any impression either. It took us so many years to get Belle so maybe Prince Phillip still has a chance in the future to get a minifig! Huh, I never noticed that Belle's line down her torso isn't even fully there in some pics. I'm guessing that's just a graphic error. Yes, I can see what you mean about Belle's linings being much thinner. I prefer that actually because it makes her dress look more delicate. I'm glad they didn't make Belle in the style of the princesses last year. In that sense, I'm glad it took them so long to make her minifig and I really hope Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora can all get new figures in the future. With more movie accurate colors, no sparkles, thinner lines, etc. In Aurora's case, longer hair with a molded crown too. That's such an improvement! I feel this way too. I don't think Mickey is all that well done and he's not enough of a draw for me to want the set for anything but the minifigs. But even minifig wise, I'm not impressed. Belle is the only one well done. Lilo and Geppetto were both on my wishlist but I'm not pleased with how cheaply they were made with Geppetto getting plain legs, Lilo using Pocahontas' recycled hair and getting no sleeves. Her skin tone isn't common enough for there to be an existing minifigure with dual molded arms that could suit her. I already have Sebastian and Flounder. I do like the brooms though. After Belle, they're the best part of the set and I would like to have those. I might hold on this set and wait to see if I can get the individual elements cheaper online.
  6. If someone doesn't care for the MCU or especially its Disney+ shows, then these characters would be considered filler. There's a reason most comments on the CMF series 2 were basically about only purchasing the X-Men characters and maybe Moon Knight while ignoring all the rest. I only bought the X-Men characters myself. I'm worried about the Bishop minifigure. I wouldn't be shocked if they give him plain blue legs and don't bother printing the yellow stripe down one of his legs. He should technically have dual molded legs too but Lego seems so averse to that when it comes to Marvel.
  7. That does look good. You're right that a similar mask would be too thick on Jean's face since it shouldn't protrude out so much like Wolverine's mask. This is closer to her Marvel Girl mask.
  8. Yes, thankfully Pooh's house doesn't take up much space at all so it's an easy fit. And I'm a major Pooh fan so in fact, it's the set that got me into Lego Disney. I have the original castle over the new one. I'm happy with that since I prefer the original castle but one thing I do wish it had from the new one is the foliage area dedicated to Pocahontas. I liked that a bit of greenery was included in the castle to provide a forest area that could also work for a character like Bambi. As of now, I have no place to put characters like Bambi and Pocahontas which is why I stuck her at the top of the treehouse lol. Your arrangement sounds like a perfect fit! The ice castle is definitely worth it and I think you'll be a big fan whenever you do get it. I love the idea of a frozen lake/bridge leading from Cinderella castle to the ice palace! Please post pics if you ever get that made! Glad to hear you're recovering. At least it gives you the excuse to be able to lay down and watch some entertainment. I saw Raya once it was free on Disney+ but even then, it took me a few months to get around to it because I was in no hurry. I did enjoy it but it's a very rushed film. If you've ever seen Game of Thrones or Avatar: The Last Airbender, imagine all those seasons worth of episodes and all that story but now crammed into a 1.5 hour film. That's basically Raya. I liked it more than most, and that's coming from someone who generally hasn't cared for Disney's output since Bob Iger took over, but I agree it's a very messy film and most people could not connect to it. The theme in particular was rather polarizing with people feeling it was a rather dangerous lesson to impart. I can see why the film hasn't had much of a legacy and I'd be more surprised if Lego ever made a Raya minifigure than if they didn't. One pro for her as a character is that she's a least a departure from Disney's recent mold for princesses...that being said, she's basically a MCU heroine like Black Widow or Gamora 2.0. If I hadn't been following the production of Frozen, I wouldn't have had any idea it was based on The Snow Queen either. The final film basically takes nothing from the movie. There's a lot of Russian adaptations for The Snow Queen since it's very popular there, including a classic animated movie from the 50s which was also an inspiration for Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli films. I've seen some live-action Snow Queen films as well, including a TV one with Bridget Fonda. I also really like Anna's winter outfit which is basically a peasant outfit but is so nice and colorful with the fuchsia pink and blue. Elsa's dress design has gotten a bit old though since every Frozen spinoff basically gives us a recolored version of it. I don't blame you for avoiding the sequel. The fact it didn't get an Oscar nomination is another red flag. It was very divisive when it comes to critics but also the fandom. I won't spoil anything beyond that but the main thing the film does is give Elsa the spotlight (at the cost of the other characters), which some people felt was making up for the original film's lack of focus on her as a protagonist. However, if you already have issues with how Elsa was hailed as being better than the other princesses, then Frozen II's treatment of her vs Anna will not appeal to you. The music is just okay but not nearly as good as the first film's songs, outside of Elsa's two solo songs. Since you favor Anna, then I definitely don't recommend it because this film was clearly not made to boost her character and in fact, the movie made me outright dislike her so that's how bad her character assassination was. You should stay clear from it at all costs lol. Your custom Phillip has a great design! Thanks for sharing! I do wish Shaggy's hair came in reddish brown rather than just nougat since I think nougat is a little too light for Phillip's hair. Maybe one day we'll get that piece in the right color. Yes, I'd love an idea like that where you could have sets that create each Disney movie world! Although between the price and space, maybe it's better Lego holds off on those extra sets lol. There are some Disney map books that feature maps from each movie's world and your idea sounds very similar to that, case in point this BATB example below. Nice to see official pics. I still have some gripes though. Geppetto's legs could have used printing to portray his shoes and stockings. Not happy they went with plain black legs. Would have preferred they waited to make him in a CMF series. Lilo needed dual molded arms to portray her sleeves. She doesn't wear a sleeveless dress. Simba feels like he comes straight out of a Friends set. A lot like the Lucifer from the Disney Princess sets. Way too cartoony. Belle's minifigure looks good and thankfully doesn't have the annoying sparkles they put on all the princesses last year. But the recycled head is annoying. I don't know why Mickey is missing a mouth. At least they didn't throw sparkles on him like they did on his CMF minifigure.
  9. They can offer human versions of the enchanted objects as well. Since we see Lumiere, Cogsworth, Fifi, Mrs. Potts, and Chip as humans by the end. Plus Sultan in dog form.
  10. Your take on Lego's policy now sounds very accurate. And that's a shame you missed out on the Winnie the Pooh set. I'm seeing that on Ebay prices for it go from $125-150 which isn't too bad since the original price was $100. Between that and Frozen, I don't know which property you have a closer personal attachment to, but my personal recommendation would be for the Winnie the Pooh set. It looks excellent next to the Snow White cottage. The trees at the top are also a nice place to put Pocahontas, if you don't mind mixing movies, as a throwback to her "strange clouds" scene when she first sees John Smith's ship from the top of Grandmother Willow. Yes, I'm with you there and definitely recommend grabbing Sally while she's still cheap in case you ever change your mind. I wish I had done that for Jack years ago because he used to be quite cheap but I didn't think I would ever want him. I will say that the Frozen Castle looks excellent in person. Especially since I love light blue and white so those colors in particular appeal to me. The lack of any real Frozen minifigs to populate the castle (outside of the CMF Elsa and Anna) is a drawback though. Although the brick-built Olaf works with both minidolls and minifigs. If you ever get around to watching the live-action Jungle Book, I'd love to read your thoughts! Maybe if it hadn't been for COVID and TikTok, Encanto would have ended up more like Raya and the Last Dragon. Completely forgotten and glossed over. I've always loved The Snow Queen fairy tale so I would have preferred a more accurate adaptation rather than one barely even inspired by it. I liked Anna's wardrobe especially since her clothes were mainly historically and culturally accurate. Elsa's dress really looks like something off the fashion runway. But I guess there's a reason Elsa merchandise sells exponentially more. I think they made Elsa more stunning beautiful because she was originally the villain and only rehauled into being good after Let It Go was written. It started off as a villain song before the filmmakers felt it was more of an empowering anthem. After that, she became more of a plot device than character so to contrast her with Anna, the more relatable and quirky heroine, they needed Elsa to look more gorgeous and act more graceful and regal. That being said, a lot of the things I liked from the first movie were terribly treated in the second one. I enjoyed Olaf, liked Anna, and tolerated Kristoff in the first movie. In Frozen II, I found Olaf wasn't funny anymore, Anna was plain annoying, and Kristoff just there for the sake of being there. I don't think it's a coincidence that we haven't gotten any Frozen II minifigs either because it seems like the sequel's merch never sold as well as the first movie's. The funny thing is that for several months before the Snow White set was revealed, there was some speculation on whether or not the glass coffin might be included. Most people were absolutely convinced Lego wouldn't go in that direction to depict a "dead" character. 100% agree! I always wanted a village set, sorta like the Diagon Alley Harry Potter sets. A D2C set featuring all the major buildings and shops. The baker's, the bookshop, Gaston's tavern, the fountain where Belle reads to the sheep, and of course Maurice's cottage with his inventions. And minifig wise, we could get Belle in her blue dress, Gaston again, LeFou, Maurice, the Bimbettes, and maybe some of the villagers like the baker and librarian.
  11. I think she might look better once we see official pics. I'm more worried about the printing of her light-colored face on the dark blue head. I'm not a fan of the 90s costume anyway for Jean so I think some of my feelings towards her minifig being somewhat unsatisfactory or unfinished stem from just not liking her costume in general. I think they should have at least printed her blue gauntlets on her arms and given her flesh colored hands. The issue with the ponytail is that it's not quite accurate to the show. In the show, her hair is only visible from the top of her mask. Her actual ponytail comes out of a small hole in the back. Obviously that wouldn't really function as a lego part so they have to use the generic ponytail. As someone who isn't a fan of the ponytail, I think this minifig will also look better with an open hair piece instead.
  12. Lego seems wary of new properties in general now. Marvel sets for new movies get only a minimum of characters and sets. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was completely snubbed. I'm sorry to hear you've been ill. Hope you feel better soon! And you're welcome, I just wanted to make sure you knew what the Sally minifigs were like so you don't get one accidentally if it's not what you were expecting. I'm really not a big fan of TNBC but I think the dearth of Disney sets since last year (even with Snow White this year and both the Target and Lilo & Stich sets coming out later this year) has me more interested in this one. Also I played the Kingdom Hearts games for the first time this year and TNBC frequently pops up in those games, so it's fresh on my mind. I was somewhat unsure about whether or not to get the Frozen castle but knowing it had only about a year left before it retired convinced me to get it. The original price was $200 I think and from what I can see online, even retired, you can find it for a little more than $200 on Ebay and other places. So if you ever decide you do want it, you might still be able to find it for a similar or at least decent price. That's really a pity then that Lego introduces these new franchises or themes but then drops them beyond the initial set. I guess that marketing strategy works though but I heard the BTS set didn't sell as well as they thought so maybe it's not foolproof. I know the upcoming Twilight set got a lot of attention in the Twilight fandom though so that might be a winner for Lego. I'm still holding out hope that Winnie the Pooh gets more sets and minifigs but I think the original set is already retired now. Good to know how you feel about singing in the live-action films. Most people felt The Jungle Book songs were out of place so you may feel similarly then. That reminds me that I've found it odd we haven't gotten Mowgli and Baloo as minifigs yet. Mowgli especially would be rather simple. I think in my case because Encanto was hyped up so much online, I had very high expectations for it and they really didn't get met at all. I think also my fondness for Frozen is because I came in with very low expectations after hearing that Elsa was more or less a supporting character rather than the lead and that the film didn't follow The Snow Queen fairy tale at all. The script for Frozen was also released online about a month before release so I had read that and had a very bad impression of the movie so there was nowhere to go other than up when I actually saw it. Interestingly enough, Kristen Bell, who plays Anna, said she couldn't relate to the classic princesses growing up and felt they were too perfect. That inspired her characterization of Anna to make her more clumsy and "relatable," although personally I think she gets more annoying especially in Frozen II. I guess different types of characters appeal to different people but I never had a problem connecting to the classic princesses. And I think while they still feel very human, they also fit the image of the archetypal fairy tale princesses with their beauty and grace, something which is lacking in the newer heroines. The newer ones come across as maybe too ordinary, like I could meet the average person on the street just like them. These new Disney characters feel lacking in magic as a result. I saw even on the comments for the Target Disney set that was just leaked that many felt there should have been more classic Disney representation over something like Encanto, so I don't think it's an entirely uncommon feeling. Yes, good point that Snow White and Aurora both required true love's kiss and a regular kiss from just anyone else wouldn't have worked. With all the controversy over the kiss (there were people pushing for the Snow White ride at the Disney Parks to remove the kissing scene because it's apparently offensive), I'm just glad Lego didn't have a problem including Snow White's glass coffin in the cottage set. It's too bad we couldn't get something similar for Aurora in the dragon set with a proper bed for her. Personally I think even without the abandoned subplot of Florian being held captive in the dungeon, the film still works. Like you said, it's a cultural thing to kiss a loved one goodbye after they've died. I don't know how people can find that offensive especially since I've heard of that in most cultures. Although that does remind me that Joanne Woodward won her Oscar for the film The Three Faces of Eve where she plays a woman with a multiple personality disorder. I think the movie was based on a real story and apparently the real life woman developed this personality disorder from the trauma of being forced by her mother to kiss her dead grandmother goodbye. So perhaps people should feel more concerned about Florian and Phillip's well-beings lol.
  13. I think DC might have a chance with Superman's new movie. But then again maybe not. I can see Lego holding back and not making as many sets for that film. It's the same even with Marvel, where Lego seems more interested in making sets for the Phase 1-3 movies than the new ones. Sorry, just to clarify because I think my comments were too confusing. Sally's new minifigure does have side leg printing and the original does too. So on both minifigs she does have printing on the sides of her legs. What the new Sally minifig is lacking is printing on her arms to depict her stitches and her legs are no longer dual molded. I use minifigs in the Ice Palace and thankfully the minifigs work just as well as the minidolls do. Since it's the only other unique Disney castle we have besides the Disney Parks Cinderella castle, it particularly stands out. The Oz minifigures would work better in this setting if we had an actual Glinda minifig though. That's an interesting theory and quite believable. I think Lego is hoping that certain submissions they approve of can be popular enough to start a new theme. Like the Winnie the Pooh and Sesame Street sets, which were given a lot of new molds. We know the Lego designers talked about wanting to make more Winnie the Pooh sets and Sesame Street even had a place where the set could potentially connect to a future one. I was under the impression both sold well but the lack of any new extension sets makes me think otherwise. I guess not everything can end up as popular as the Friends set which did get a second set. Jungle Book also has some of the original songs that are sung. Some people didn't like that because they felt it was rather jarring in the live-action format. But this was also before Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King, as the remakes at this point all didn't feature songs (Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent, Cinderella) so it might be less off-putting to watch it now after exposure to those films. I completely agree with you on everything you said. Tbh, I didn't really like Encanto either. I watched it on Disney+ to see what all the hype was about and the songs didn't register with me, and nor did the characters. Especially the lead heroine who I felt was incredibly annoying and cut from the same mold as Rapunzel/Anna/Moana as being adorkable, which seems to be the only template Disney knows now for their heroines. Only the visuals were nice. Even from a story point of view, just when I thought the movie was really starting to pick up and would start the conflict is when the movie ended. Agree with you entirely on all this too. Sadly the media only gives exposure to articles like "Cinderella Ate My Daughter" and Disney responds to that, rather than the defense from fans who point out that the classic princesses were much stronger than given credit for (and emotionally were much tougher than the new lot imo). How Ariel was already interested in the human world before meeting Eric, he was just the catalyst. How Snow White was orphaned and reduced from princess to scullery maid. At age 14, of course she'd be dreaming of a prince because having lost her family, her only hope at being raised back to her previous station in life and having someone to love her would be to marry. Even Walt Disney made the choice of making Snow White and the prince meet and fall in love before she falls asleep, but we still have some people claiming that Snow White's kiss is an act of assault because there's no consent. I suppose leaving her dead would be the best thing to do in that case, according to these critics. After The Lion King, I've stopped watching the remakes altogether.
  14. Wanda's kids are rumored to appear in Agatha's show.
  15. Leg printing would have been nice but wasn't a must for her. I wonder if she'll get an alternate hairpiece. If not, the Firestar or Ariel hair should suit her well.
  16. I've heard about the decline in DC sets. What a shame. At least there's the occasional Batman exclusive to keep the theme going a little while longer. I did hear from lots of DC fans that TLBM sets were really the last time Lego made any effort with DC. Thank you, tbh I keep most of the Disney sets in a large cupboard so that's why I'm able to mostly fit them all together. I double checked the Sally minfigs and I was wrong about the lack of side printing. The new Sally does have side printing on her legs but she doesn't have printing on her arms anymore. The original Sally minifig has her stitches printed on her arms. The original Sally also has dual molded legs so her skirt pattern continues on the back of her legs. Even the Frozen films can sometimes be a bit of a mess but I enjoy the songs and the characters for the most part. I did get the Ice Palace, the only minidoll set I own, because I liked the palace design. Even if I don't use it for Frozen, I can use it as an ice castle for the fairy tale Snow Queen or White Witch from Narnia. The original plans for a Wizard of Oz theme park in Kansas originally featured an ice castle for Glinda since the MGM movie makes her the Good Witch of the North, so I thought this set could work for a lot of different characters and movies. I agree with you that it's a shame so many great Lego Ideas submissions never make it as sets. The Ratatouille one was also very popular and got the necessary amount of signatures multiple times, but Lego's always rejected it. Jungle Book is worth a watch, especially for the ending scene which bookends with the original movie. It's also more accurate to the book and some of the original concepts for the animated movie which were scrapped. In many ways, it's like a blend of the book and the animated movie, taking the best of both worlds. Disney really seems to be ashamed of their legacy now. The worst was that their recent Snow White anniversary Blu-Ray had a bonus feature about how movies like Frozen and Encanto are the real Disney classics. Snow White's legacy is paving the way for those types of films and this is why it may be "problematic" and "outdated," but we shouldn't cancel Snow White because we need it for the Frozens and Encantos. It's been 8 years of Disney mininfigs and there's still so many major characters missing that I can see why Disney hasn't really bothered with existing characters in different outfits, outside of the Mickey characters and Stitch. Still hoping we'll get more alternate looks sooner rather than later.
  17. The early CMF series figures were definitely missing alternate expressions. Oh, I don't blame you for feeling that way then about any fabric sort of piece. My Tink's skirt hasn't torn, thank heavens, but I've always been worried about it fraying. Exactly, the old gray roof castle sets took on so many angles that they're really hard to fit anywhere. And the modular one, even with stacking, is so bulky from all the sets. I haven't even started with the new castle sets for that reason because I really don't have room anymore. I used to collect DC and Marvel. Even though I'm a big Marvel fan and only a casual DC fan, I used to like the DC sets more. But I've gone back to Marvel thanks to the modulars. If I had room, I'd keep my Disney sets altogether with the Cinderella Castle as the main piece. The Disney Train Station in front of it with the train wrapping around the castle, plus Winnie the Pooh's house, Snow White's cottage, and Steamboat Willie's boat. The CMF version is definitely better. The new hairpiece doesn't fit her as well and I think the new Sally doesn't have printing on the sides of her legs like the old one did. Thank goodness for that. From what I've heard with the infamous clamshell, that was a Disney decision rather than a Lego decision. Also Ariel's Prince Eric! I don't have any fondness for the new movies, besides Frozen, so I'd also like to stick to the Walt era and the 90s. Ideally, I'd love to see Geppetto's Workshop and Cherry Tree Lane from Mary Poppins. Both were wonderful Ideas submissions with Cherry Tree Lane getting rejected twice. There was also an ingenious Wonderland design of Alice's face (like one of the old Polly Pocket playsets from the 90s) on one side while the back of her head was all of Wonderland. Besides seeing lots of negative reviews online, I've seen it mostly on sale. The only live-action movies I've enjoyed were Cinderella and The Jungle Book. I've noticed those were also the only two where the movie makers didn't demean the original and talk about fixing or improving it. They talked about cherishing the originals and making the remakes to honor them. Yes, human Ariel is necessary too. I'd like wardrobe changes for the princesses in general like Cinderella in her rags, Aurora in blue, Jasmine in purple, Belle in her village dress, etc. I think we probably won't see one until the current Disney castle gets retired. Not sure if that'll last as long as the old one did.
  18. Get the parts instead. That's what I did because the sets are too expensive especially if they're several years old. The individual objects or pieces that make up the objects are fairly cheap in comparison. I probably will get the new Sleeping Beauty set just for the dragon. I don't blame you for feeling resentful about it lol. Animal molds in particular are something I'd like to see more of for Disney. Figaro, Abu, Jaq, Gus, Lady, Tramp, Thumper, Flower, etc. If we ever get an Alice remake minifig, I think she will have smaller legs. Maybe Hook will get a new minfig somewhere down the line since Lego seems to like reusing Peter Pan. The new Tink also doesn't have that fabric skirt which I felt was unnecessary on the original. Now it's just printed on. I have the same problems with lack of space. It's why I used to collect Harry Potter as well but I simply don't have room (or finances) for that now. Yes, Sally is very cheap which is why I got her a few weeks ago for basically the same price you mentioned. I don't know why she didn't jump up in price but I'm not complaining. Snow White got its own full set, a rather expensive one, so it was able to complete the movie lineup. The other Disney films really haven't had their own individual sets so we've only had a sampling of characters. Only Winnie the Pooh which is why we got the core cast although the designers did say they wanted to make more sets to feature the other characters too. I'd love that. I'm not interested in the set but if there are characters included, I'd pick it up. Would definitely love to see Ratatouille represented and also Merida and Nemo.
  19. Cruella at least has Patch even if he isn't quite a minifigure. At least Gaston will have some other representative from his movie. I do have a lot of the enchanted objects, from the princess Beauty and the Beast sets, that I've featured in the castle. Those princess sets have been good about more or less featuring all the major Beauty and the Beast servants/objects. I think part of the reason they haven't done an Alice set is because if they did the tea party scene, they'd have to make at least two new minifigs. Three if we include the White Rabbit. And there's the Dormouse as well who would need to be an animal mold. And even Alice hasn't been made since 2016 so she'd more or less have to be a new figure as well although the hair mold they brought back for her minidoll. I think Hook might be kinda pricey now too. I got him a few years back but I remember he and Peter were two of the most expensive from the CMF Series 1. As for Peter and Tinker Bell, I'd say the new Tinker Bell figure from the Peter Pan diorama set and celebration train set is superior to the original. At least her wings are, since they're more movie accurate and actually pointed rather than round. The new Peter isn't as good though with generic legs. I'd try and get the original if you ever can for a good deal, despite his price. The lack of John and Michael was disappointing as well as Nana. Wendy being featured without her hairbow, which they did bother to include in the minidoll set, was even more of an inconvenience. I can see why the lackluster attempts at making minifigs from this property haven't encouraged you. Wow, they're even pricier than I expected. The funny thing is that Jack used to be really cheap and one of the easier minifigs to get.
  20. Of course. Happy to. I don't think you were giving off that impression at all but I wanted to make sure you didn't feel any slight, just in case, because I wanted to make sure that my post hadn't seemed antagonistic lol. So we both seem overly concerned for no reason. I think when it comes to gatekeeping who lives in the castle, that role lies with Disney/Lego based on them dictating who gets made into minifigure form or not. Keeping the villains together is great too, especially since there's so many now. Still hoping for more Alice characters like the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, and March Hare. I was certain we'd get some sort of Mad Tea Party set but sadly that never happened. With Peter Pan's cast more or less complete (although I'd love the Darling brothers, Nana, and Mr. Smee), I think we could use more Alice characters in future sets. I know the original Peter Pan minifig from the first CMF series tends to be a bit more expensive than the rest of the minifigs from that series. Don't know about Alice's price. I'm currently still trying to track down Jack Skellington for a decent price since I think I'll likely get TNBC set even though it's not really a favorite movie of mine.
  21. Thank you, I'm glad you like it. The hair is from the original Thor minifigs from the first two Avengers movie sets. The face is Jimin from the BTS set. Torso is Fleur Delacour in her Beauxbatons uniform. It's not evident from the picture but the torso/arms are a lighter shade of blue than the armor. They're the same shade as Cinderella's light blue dress. The armor is slightly darker blue like Genie and Stitch if you have those minifgs to compare to Cinderella. The blue armor doesn't come from a set. It's only available in blue from BL. I've tried the silver gray breastplate as well since some John Smith merchandise (like his 90s Mattel doll) featured him in silver armor. But the silver breastplate feels more like a John Smith MOC whereas the blue breastplate feels more like it's really John Smith imo. Legs come from Oswald. Don't worry about it, I hope you don't think I was trying to call you out! Everyone is free to display their sets and figures as they want so if some people only keep the royal couples in the castle, that's perfectly alright. And I've seen plenty of pics proving people do display it like that. Ideally every Disney character minifig would have a unique face so we wouldn't have this issue at all like with Cinderella and Wendy. You're probably right that most people won't keep them next to each other so it's not as noticeable for them since Wendy isn't a princess. I tend to keep my Disney characters grouped by film as well. So I have Wendy with Peter, Tink, and Hook but I keep Alice on Wendy's other side due to the obvious links and similarities. Plus their movies came out one after another so it works chronologically too.
  22. The lack of Frozen minifigs since CMF Series 2, plus the Ice Castle being minidoll only, seems to suggest Disney isn't interested in doing anything minifig related for Frozen anymore. I also think we won't get minifigs for the non-prince characters. That's why I made my own unofficial John Smith minifig from official parts if it's of interest to anyone. I posed him with Pocahontas so you can see what they look like together. The armor doesn't taper down the middle but I'm guessing even if we did get an official John Smith minifig, Lego would reuse their standard armor mold instead of making one more accurate to his movie armor. I keep my Alice and Wendy together since they're both Disney heroines and literary heroines. :) Dorothy is usually grouped with them too. From Instagram, I don't think most people are very picky about keeping only princesses in the castle for display. I see lots of pics with all the Disney characters, whether Tron, Pirates of the Caribbean, Toy Story, The Incredibles, Winnie the Pooh, etc. included in the castle. And plenty even with The Muppets, Star Wars, or Marvel characters like Iron Man flying around. The eyebrows do seem a bit different from the pics you posted so that's a good sign. Here's hoping.
  23. Agreed. The original set design was better and the movies connected more fluidly. I was too busy looking at the minifigs to pay much attention to Mickey but he really looks off. I doubt we ever will get Cinderella with correct colors so we're probably more likely to get a version with sleeves. I can see what you mean about Belle's dress color. I hope it looks better in different lighting but the skirt probably should have been the color of her torso while her torso should be a darker gold. It's hard to tell though because Disney has changed the colors of the actual film so many times from DVD to Blu-Ray release. This is the Wendy vs Cinderella comparison with Alice thrown in as well. I don't think Cinderella and Wendy look a whole lot alike but Belle and Cinderella definitely don't either. Meanwhile Wendy and Alice look almost identical facial wise except Alice's lips are very red compared to Wendy's. I also feel that Belle and Ariel have a strong facial resemblance. Part of that is because the animation on those movies, especially Beauty and the Beast, is notorious for being rushed and Belle in particular is frequently off-model. But there are many shots where I see Ariel's face in Belle. Ideally all the princesses would have unique faces though since they each have their own distinctive features. Ariel has pencil thin eyebrows whereas Belle has thicker, more European, eyebrows. And Belle's lips are pink whereas Ariel's are red. I guess since Cinderella's eyebrows are also brown and not as thin as Ariel's, plus she has pink lips, they felt there was enough resemblance to Belle.
  24. I think Florian may have been prioritized because of the Snow White cottage set. It made him an easy choice to make since he can fit into two sets. Which is probably the only reason why we're getting Lilo in this set because they already designed her for the upcoming Lilo & Stitch house set. Yeah, I can see it looking like Cinderella is wearing a T-Shirt. The sleeves aren't such a big deal as much as the color of her hair and dress at this point. It would have been nice if they included the shoulder sash on Belle's arms. With a lot of these minifigs, I've noticed Lego gets most of it right but then there's always one pesky detail or color which is off and makes you wish they could have just fixed that. Maybe in a few years if this minifig is ever remade. Based on what I can see from the pic, it looks like they reused the Cinderella/Wendy face for Belle. Which is getting a little ridiculous now to have the same face reused for three separate Disney characters! Geppetto's legs are covered so I'm curious if he has printing for his shoes and stockings.
  25. I don't think it's a slope piece from what I can see. I have to admit, I'm slightly disappointed with Lilo between sharing Pocahontas' hair and the lack of dual molded arms to portray her red sleeves. I doubt she'll be any different in the Lilo & Stitch set. To be fair, some major princes like Eric and Phillip never got minifigures either so the Beast is in good company. We're lucky we got the princes we did. If it wasn't for the Disney 100th Anniversary, we'd probably only still have Aladdin from CMF Series 1. Tbh I'm not a huge fan of Cinderella's sleeves just being printed on the torso. It doesn't quite convey the effect for me. The CMF Wolverine minifig does have short capped sleeves printed onto his arms but he doesn't have to worry about dual molded arms like Cinderella does with her gloves.
