Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

Very psyched for the minifig lineup. Geppetto was on my wishlist. Was expecting him in a Disney CMF Series 4 with the Blue Fairy. I do wish they had included Figaro with him though. Feels very odd to have Pinocchio, Jiminy, Geppetto, and Cleo but no Figaro. It would have been nice for one more animal mold to get us Cleo so the whole family can be together. Simba is cute and I was hoping for The Lion King's anniversary this year, we'd get some minifig set so this is the closest to that. But I agree he looks too cartoony/Friends style for me. Like the mini Pride Rock. Lilo was someone I predicted we might get since we're getting her house soon. The hair does not work for her at all though. They cheaped out and just gave her Pocahontas' hair, I guess because you can insert a flower in it. Hoping she has a more accurate hairpiece for her house set. Belle is also long overdue. Very psyched to get her but it's hard to tell from the lighting if she's had sparkles thrown over her or not. I like that her dress isn't monochromatic yellow but varying shades, which is accurate to the movie (although her dress should really be gold). Agreed, I have zero interest in him or the new movies. Thankfully most of the set focuses on the classics. Lilo & Stitch is the last bonafide Disney classic anyway. Even in the original submission, only Cinderella's coach represented the 1950s. I'm hoping we get Lady Tremaine one day. Aurora didn't have dual molded arms. They were just pink so they were able to print the white sash, flesh skin, and and gold detailing on the pink arm. Belle has dual molded arms so maybe it was more difficult to print yellow bands on the actual flesh molded parts. And I'm just seeing now that Lilo seems to not have dual molded arms to portray her red sleeves. It looks like she's sleeveless. Between the generic hair and the lack of sleeves, that's very disappointing. I don't think there's any minifigure with dual molded red arms and her particular skin tone. -

I actually like the Alice head on Wendy. Makes her look younger. The Cinderella/Wendy head looks too mature for Alice. Like a grown woman instead of a little girl. The eyebrows are technically the right color but they stand out too much here especially since these brows are much thicker than Alice's from the movie. -

The shadows from the fringe of her hair helps to cover the color of her eyebrows. It really is a suitable face for Ariel even if her scared face has lines underneath her ages which slightly age her. Love the idea of using the scared face to pose with Ursula stealing her voice. Since Wendy and Alice have the same face (and voice actress), an alternative would be to give Alice the head that Wendy has. But even Wendy's head is a reuse of Cinderella's head so you'd have three identical looking characters. -

The Maleficent set and mini Sleeping Beauty castle set were the best chance for a blue dress Aurora. Since we haven't had an animated Ariel minifigure since 2016, I think it's more likely we'll just get a new version of that like we got with Peter Pan and Tinker Bell last year. For people who didn't catch the mermaid Ariel minifigure back then. Besides the face, there's also the fact that I think Ariel's hairpiece from her 2016 minifigure hasn't been used again since then. They did bring back the Alice hairmold last year so they could presumably bring back Ariel's but I could also see them reusing the minidoll hairpiece instead. I didn't notice the black lines on the mouths were new! Thanks for sharing that because I wouldn't have caught it. The Kate head does look similar to Ariel's and is a good substitute although the one thing I'll say is that Ariel has very dark brown eyebrows in the movie whereas Kate has orange eyebrows. Alice also has brown eyebrows in the movie though so her blonde ones aren't super accurate even on the official minifig. And Snow White was known for her pencil thin 1930s eyebrows so I don't know why they went with such thick eyebrows. -

Maybe in the future then, but after not getting a Sleeping Beauty minifigure set and the Frozen D2C set also being a minidoll set, I feel Disney is mostly going to keep the princess sets minidoll themed. Snow White was an exception because it's historic but I don't see Cinderella getting anything beyond minidoll treatment if it got its own set. Out of the hundreds of designs submitted, Lego specifically chose only five designs with this one being the one they clearly wanted to have win since it was the only one that featured a range of Disney movies rather than focusing on just one. Based on that, I think Lego probably felt this concept was one they felt comfortable being fairly accurate to without major changes so I'd be more surprised if the final set departs from any of the movies in the original submission. I also don't expect to get more than 1 character per film. If we're lucky enough to get Belle, I don't see us getting the Beast too. I just want some costume changes. Like Ariel as a human (although that wouldn't really work with the set design of her swimming), Aladdin as Prince Ali, and Elsa in her Frozen II white gown. I know this isn't ever going to happen but would be neat to get Pinocchio with his donkey ears and tail too. -

I think they give Aurora darker hair because her hair is described as gold so it's easy to make it more orange and bright. Cinderella is the most popular princess so they give her basic blonde hair, which tends to be lighter, especially in her dolls where her hair is almost platinum blonde at times. Good catch, I noticed that too that her choker is silver instead of black. They used the same silver used for her sparkles and other detailing. I thought she might get a bigger dress piece since they brought that back for the Queen of Hearts, but maybe they're keeping that piece exclusive to the CMF. That makes a lot of sense that Aurora's hair couldn't be too long so she could lie down on a bed. Although I still hope that in the future, we can get a hairpiece which is longer in length and also has a molded crown instead of the generic crown you can insert. The Evil Queen and Queen of Hearts both got exclusive molded crowns so I'd like to see Aurora get one too since the five point crown she currently has doesn't really look accurate. That's a great alternative. Rapunzel's short hair is a lot easier to replicate than her long blonde hair. I used Ebay to get Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and their princes about a year ago. At the time Cinderella was the cheapest and I got her for about $25. Rapunzel and Snow White were the most expensive, both above $50. This was before the Snow White cottage set was officially announced so while I knew she'd end up in that set, I was feeling too impatient to wait until March to get her so I coughed up the money for her minifig as well. And had no idea then that Florian would also end up in the Snow White set so I bought him individually too. Snow White being available in another set must have made her a lot cheaper now. Cinderella seems like she was always really cheap, so for some reason, Rapunzel is the hard one to get. I didn't see a whole lot of full minifigure rosters then either. I bought these minifigs all individually, especially since I wasn't interested in all of them in the first place. -

Cinderella's really supposed to have dark blonde hair, a golden brown color, in comparison to Aurora who's a light blonde but most merchandise gives Aurora almost orange-gold hair and Cinderella a light or bright yellow hair color. And good point that Cinderella's dress should also have some line detailing down the middle which is missing on the minifigure's skirt piece. It's funny that they wouldn't include that but they want out of their way to give Aurora some unnecessary back printing portraying a sort of corset which she definitely doesn't have in the movie. I'm wondering if the shorter hairpiece they gave her was also done in order to display some of that back printing. And of course Aurora really should have been wearing blue rather than pink. Even her collar, which is typically portrayed as white, is actually a very pale blue or pale pink in the movie. Rapunzel's movie was also after my era so I don't have a strong attachment to her, or the Disney version of her anyway. When I first saw her minifigure, I made the same mistake you did and thought she was very movie accurate unlike the other princesses. But it was posts here that made me realize that she's also got some issues like the gold detailing and of course the hair length. I did BL her minifig anyway though because I thought she could work well as a generic princess since the hair really doesn't scream Rapunzel from any angle. -

I agree. He's not as big as the Hulk but he's only a bit smaller in size. Iron Man isn't as tall as Captain America but that doesn't mean he needs to have short legs. The Thing will look really off if he's a regular-sized minifig, especially when you put him next to the Hulk and kids are definitely going to be fighting with both of them. -

The hair thing is really annoying. Rapunzel's whole shtick is that she has long hair but her minifig has a braid length that could work for any female character. Aurora's hair was also too short for my taste. Alice's hairpiece is longer than Aurora's if you put them together. And Rapunzel whose hair is supposed to be golden has bright light yellow hair, the same as Elsa and Tinker Bell. Meanwhile Aurora, whose golden hair actually is light-colored in her movie, gets the golden hairpiece. All of the new princess minifigs last year suffered from not being accurate enough. Way too many sparkles (Rapunzel, Aurora, Snow White) and inaccurate colors (Cinderella in light blue and her hair being too light blonde, Snow White's torso not as dark as it should be, Aurora's pink being too light). This is why I'm not too upset about not getting Belle yet because we would have gotten something similar to these girls lathered in sparkles. They did a better job with the princess minifigs made before Series 3, like Ariel, Jasmine, Elsa, and Anna who seem to actually be based off of their respective movies rather than the Disney Princess merchandise. -

Even the comic book Daredevil, Punisher, and Blade minifigs included in the Daily Bugle were only allowed in that set because Lego couldn't get away with including them in smaller sets due to their mature ratings. So even with a Marvel logo instead of a Daredevil Born Again logo, Lego won't feel comfortable releasing those characters in a set of their own. They could get away with it in the Daily Bugle because it's mostly Spider-Man themed and nobody would feel it's too adult. -

If not a Sentinel, then maybe Mastermold with 1-2 regular Sentinels like the one from the X-Mansion included also. -

Maybe the rules are different internationally. That's promising to hear even if it doesn't mean we can get a Lego Tarzan or Jane. -

I agree with you, I'm sick of seeing Spider-Gwen and Miles in every set. I'd like to see Peter Parker's actual friends like the ones you listed as well as Harry Osborn, Liz Allan, etc. We've never gotten a minifigure of 616 Gwen Stacy (the Daily Bugle minifig is just a generic blonde character they named Gwen last minute) and we haven't had a proper MJ in forever. -

TNBC does seem to have enough cross-cultural appeal that it could potentially get its own CMF series. I'm seeing a lot of comments about how the townspeople should have been minifigs and there's certainly enough of them to fill up an entire wave. Could include Dr. Finkelstein and Jack as Sandy Claws as well, not to mention Oogie Boogie. -

HD pics are up for The Nightmare Before Christmas set on Instagram. We can see the interior of Jack's house now. I'm not super well-versed in TNBC but his room looks fairly accurate to what I remember from the movie. There's also the picture of him in his Sandy Claws outfit. There's a better look at the Santa minifigure. Lock, Shock, and Barrel still seem disappointing to me. More like someone's MOCs than official minifigs. I've always wanted the MGM Glinda and Wizard especially now that the wide skirt piece is being used again. The Wicked Witch could also use an update with a skirt piece and a new molded hat with hair and also the ribbon that trails down behind the hat. Would love to see Munchkins and Emerald City inhabitants too. -

This is my suspicion too, that it'll be a uniform for the future X-Men who influence young Cable, which are Cyclops, Jean, Wolverine, Storm, and Morph. It would look really out of place for the X-Men stuck in Ancient Egypt (Xavier, Magneto, Rogue, Beast, Nightcrawler). In theory, they could wear the Morrison suits when the two teams are reunited in the present again but I'd hope not. The black leather look isn't well suited to animation imo. At most, I hope they're one-off uniforms, like an easter egg, the way the 70s/80s classic looks were in the S1 finale. And with Sabretooth and Lady Deathstrike being confirmed for S2, that increases their chances of appearing in sets. But then again, S1 focused on Mr. Sinister and Bastion and it doesn't seem likely we'll be getting either of them although Sabretooth and Deathstrike are definitely more high-profile villains. He would have been a much better choice. Yet another villain in a long line of MCU villains that Lego seems to be skipping. -

About a year ago, the game's plot leaked along with footage. There are a few variants of the plot, but the core story is the same with the major characters I listed before. There are subreddits dedicated to the leaks for this game if you Google it, but I'll pm you the storyline as well. At this rate, we have more sets of the Avengers Compound in ruins than we have of it fully formed. Another reason to one day make a D2C on the compound. -

The funny thing is I can see most of these getting made at some point. With the Wolverine video game from Insomniac coming soon, I wonder if we could expect any tie-in sets, although Spider-Man never got any tie-in sets. Just the exclusive minifigure. Lady Deathstrike, Sabretooth, Mystique, Omega Red, and Mr. Sinister are the main villains in that with protagonists Wolverine and Jean Grey, so it would be nice to see some comic or show sets featuring those characters that could technically cross-promote the video game as well. -

Lady Deathstrike and Sabretooth are also supposed to appear in S2 of X-Men '97 so here's hoping we'll get minifigs for them eventually. They could easily be included in Wolverine sets. I'm not a fan of the black leather look either. Thankfully it's only Scott and Jean confirmed to be wearing those costumes so far. Since they're stuck in the future, I wonder if only the future X-Men wear these costumes. There was apparently footage of the X-Men stuck in the past (ex. Nightcrawler) and they're not wearing those costumes. -

I know this is unlikely, but I'd love an Asgard inspired straight from the comics, particularly the Jack Kirby run of Thor. With a minifigure lineup based on the 60s/70s comics as well so we could get non-movie characters like the Enchantress, Balder, and Karnilla, plus comic versions of Thor, Loki, Sif, etc. The Asgard from the movies never felt as fantastical or inspired as the Asgard from the comics. -

All of that is exactly why I think the set probably didn't do well. People were complaining about the price tag for the size from the very beginning. No Michael, John, or Nana. Peter and Tinker Bell repeated from an earlier set that very same year that's much cheaper to get. Anyone who was missing Peter and Tink and wanted them would already have gotten them from the celebration train set by that point. Wendy was the only new figure and it really irritated me that they couldn't even be bothered to include a bow for her hair like the minidoll got. I had to purchase that minidoll online just to get my hands on the bow. It's actually not a bad set at all and it looks nice on a shelf but it needed to be much cheaper. If there was a series of these dioramas that could all connect, I think people would have been more excited about it. But it reminds me about how people thought the celebration train would start a series of future sets with more parade floats that would all connect into one large train but that never materialized either. I think the reason we got a Peter Pan diorama instead of one featuring new characters is specifically because it was cheaper to make a set that would repackage two existing minifigs and only include one new one. Who already had a hairpiece from her minidoll in another existing set. All the other mentioned films would have required entirely new minifigs (although Alice and Ariel's hairpieces would be easy to reuse just as with Wendy). -

Yes, I meant that it featured an elevator in general, even if it's not functional and just doors. The same is true for the Daily Bugle. There are doors on every floor that represent an elevator but not an actual one. I don't even remember if there was an elevator in the X-Mansion from the show. I think the elevator was more of a thing from the movies that took the team down to the subbasement from the public school level. I've seen some people speculate about Fisk Tower. That would be a way to include a lot of characters who might not appear in regular sets because of a maturity rating, like Daredevil, Elektra, Bullseye, Kingpin, etc. No, we don't have confirmation on any of the interior so far. -

For the bedroom, I can see it probably being Wolverine's. Both because he's the most popular character and also because you could reenact the Sad Wolverine meme of him laying on bed looking at Jean's picture. That's the type of easter egg I would expect since the Daily Bugle had a bunch like Peter's Pizza Time from Spider-Man 2. Jubilee's bedroom got a lot of screentime in her centric episode for '97 so it would be nice to get that but it seems unlikely if we're really not getting her. I'd like to see a staircase/elevator even if Lego has mostly been ignoring those in their dollhouse sets. Both the Up house and Snow White cottage lacked staircases. The Marvel modulars have been a bit better about that though between the staircase in the Sanctum and the elevators in Avengers Tower and the Daily Bugle. -

The GWP isn't bad but it does seem a little out of place without an actual Borgin and Burkes set.
