  1. I really wish Lego would provide alternate building instructions to modify it to run on PF. I'm not a train builder by any means, and have no clue about how all that needs to be rigged up to run.
  2. When I was working at a Toyworld store a couple of years ago, I heard a rumor from the Lego rep there was the possibility of a proper Lego Store opening in Sydney. So far nothing, except for a small pop up store with all the standard stuff at the Aquarium for a while.
  3. Another question from a non-train guy, although I think it might've been asked before. Will you be able to attach the Constitution Train set to the tracks in the Silver Mine set and have the train running through the middle like a tunnel, or are they different widths?
  4. I've only been here since June last year, but in my experience, Myer in Pitt St Mall has the largest range in the city (and life size models of R2-D2 and C3PO!). There's also David Jones (but they don't have as wide a range - only good if you're after the Town Hall modular, they have tons). There's also Hobbyco in the QVB, but not as great a range as Myer. If you're looking to go a bit further out of the city (5 mins tops) then visit the TRU at Supa Centre. They have a huge re-done area for Lego, similar to Myer, but really well visually merchandised and stock, and also have a life size model of Darth Vader too.
  5. True enough, a few general posts about different things here and there, but even a majority of the posts on WP are focused on Australian sales or events. But to each their own I suppose. Back on topic, do we know when the Australian releases of the 31012 Creator Family House and/or Lone Ranger sets are?
  6. Off-topic, but It's weird how this thread, on a Lego dedicated forum, is quieter than the Lego thread on Whirlpool Forums.
  7. Report back if they are out early please. Did we ever get confirmation that the minifig polybag will be a part of the Aussie promo?
  8. Surprised to see a lot of negative views on this. Having watched The Simpsons from my late childhood, and still a viewer now (although the episodes aren't that good anymore etc etc), I champion the idea of a line of Lego sets based around the show. To say it's racy and obscene is pretty naive, considering some of the other shows nowadays that kids can gain access to (South Park, Family Guy, American Dad). I remember a lot of the 'edgier' jokes on The Simpsons going over my head as a young lad, but now of course, a re-watch adds new levels to the humour of the show. So bring on The Simpsons sets, if true! Would also be a great way to entice age bracket between 12 and AFOL into purchasing Lego.
  9. There's been this too: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6672-1 I think there is at least 1 wave in this. You could have a 'bad guy' element in the form of poachers hideout (although animal death not explicitly shown. Maybe some of those Lone Ranger cow skulls around). There could be a park ranger with a truck. Civilians on photo safari with a guide. Ostrich and Elephant moulds already exist.
  10. Sadly, these days I don't think we'd see a Safari theme in System, or even a Zoo theme, both of which would be pretty desired by AFOL's (I know I'd be very glad to see a Lego Zoo in my lifetime). I think the early 90's was definitely a broader time in terms of themes: Outback as mentioned above, Paradisa, and even variety in Town sets with Cafes, etc. Nowadays System and City's themes are usually action orientated, and I think TLG would feel that 'kids these days' would not be interested in playing with a Safari or Zoo theme (except younger children, in Duplo).
  11. Definitely will be getting Town Square. I was so disappointed to miss out on the recent Transport Center, so this will be a great alternative to get what seems like a very nice looking bus. TRU Exclusive?
  12. Lucky for all of you in places around the world getting free shipping on this set! Does anyone know if next month's VIP free shipping offer includes Australia? I'd love to order this set right now, but think I'll hold off for Free Shipping if possible.
  13. Haha, I think the Astronaut is putting the star on top of the tree, rather than being a fairy. But you're right, a mixed bag, one that doesn't really excite me at all. Police (again), Fire (again). Would love a civilian style calendar like ones from previous years. Or at least another cool little modular building like the Police station in the calendar from 2011.
  14. Honestly, I've always dreamed of a Lego Cinema, being a filmmaker and cinema buff, and having missed out on the theatre in the Town Plan set in my dark age, this is brilliant. Those whingeing about the windows, car etc. could easily mod those elements, and if you don't want to purchase it, that's fine, there's more around for the rest of us that do.
  15. Nice review mifody, and a good looking set, but it annoys me that so many cars / vehicles now seem to be missing doors. I like your mod though, which seems easy enough to do, and looks so much better with the doors!
  16. Many thanks Legocrazy81, I think it may be the case that the printing on the head on mine is too high up, so I might try order a replacement head.
  17. This came in the post yesterday, a pressie from the gf, feel very lucky! Question regarding the butler minifigure. When I put the headpiece on, and push it down all the way, I find the eyebrows part actually covers the top half of the eyes. Is everyone else's like this? And is the headpiece meant to just sit higher up and not be pushed all the way down? I guess I was just concerned that the face printing on my butler head might be too high up.
  18. Shame about these rules, that sounds like a really good deal that would be useful to Australian fans still holding out for a local release. I certainly wouldn't think to look in the 'UK sales thread' or otherwise if I wanted to find a good deal for Australian shoppers like myself.
  19. I wonder if the Holiday Elf will resemble this one that's been appearing on posters in Australia, except with short legs and a different face? http://www.mccann.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/lego_santas_little_helper_print11.jpeg
  20. Great ideas popkids! I've often wished these were plain minifigs too, although we did get a Fairy in Series 8, which was previously a keychain I think? Incidentally, (I might be showing my ignorance here), but has that Ambassador hat ever appeared on any other minifig in a set?
  21. A Zoo or Circus theme would be amazing! They have a few exotic animal moulds now (ostrichs, elephants) to fill a small zoo. I'm surprised enough we got Farm sets a couple of years back. Really regret not buying any of those now, mainly because I wasn't that into Lego at the time.
  22. Thanks a lot Xyver and all for your help. I did end up picking the ghost polybag off of Bricklink, but it's good to know there's a few independent places around the country offering polybags in stores too.
  23. Thanks Brickus, I think that's what I'll end up doing. When I used to work at Toyworld we had a couple more polybags given to us by Lego for use as giveaways during catalogue time, one I remember being this Toy Story one, but that's about it. Come to think of it, I miss Impulse sets too...
  24. Is there anywhere here in Aus that sells polybags? I don't think I've ever seen them anywhere, other than giveaways and promotions with purchase of other sets. I'd like to get my hands on one of those Monster Fighters ghost polybags.
