  1. I'm still pondering whether or not to get this set...
  2. And he's from the largest set of the 1st wave.
  3. Not to be pessimistic, but there won't be a 3rd wave of Lego sets if the movies did poorly.
  4. It's highly unlikely. Lego will severely limit the amount of non-combat oriented sets in a single wave, so for that my money is more on a Rivendell, Edoras or Lothlorien set since they already did a Bag End set.
  5. Yes, please give him one so that he can replace his Ian Holm avatar with an actual Ian Holm minifig.
  6. That's a lot. Did you get them from bricklink?
  7. I'm still not decided whether or not I would like it to be 3 movies. "The Hobbit" book itself is far too short, and the appendices aren't that long either.
  8. The 4207 Garage is now available at S@H Canada... for $150 Darn it, this is a more expensive price/piece ratio than Helm's Deep, which is a licensed set!
  9. I'm with LEGO's official stance on this - no. I removed the arms from the torso, hands from legs and legs from hips numerous times on all my classic space minifigs when I was a kid and eventually the joints all became loose. Eventually the wrist part of the arm cracked, and the torso around the arm joint cracked too.
  10. I've been thinking about the same thing, and yes, the sets from 1999-2002 were of generally really poor design (across all themes, not just Star Wars).
  11. The thick string from some large technic cranes sets 8421, 8460/8431, 8462 and 8854 has the same quality you describe and has no 'hairiness', is it because it's waxed? Again LEGO could maybe answer that question. But then again, maybe not - I have never seen it in any sets since the 8421 (from 2005). The 8285 and 8288 (both from 2006) use the standard 'hairy' string that is the same as the one this topic is about.
  12. The Gollum face from the LEGO LOTR poster would be a good example of a mischievous, scheming Gollum.
  13. The nighttime effect makes the MOC even more fabulous. Now all one needs to do is animate those minifigs!
  14. I found this very interesting page specifically talking about the insult itself and how it's used against creative people. http://xanadoodle.wordpress.com/2011/06/13/you-have-too-much-time-on-your-hands/
  15. Great MOC, but can't you put minifigs inside?
  16. Nope. Neither 10 years ago or recently, they only had tan or white. But I only went to the same store (Rossy), I didn't shop around.
  17. Nice MOC, but it's hard to see this without being reminded of that viral youtube video of a very drunk David Hasselhoff struggling to eat a cheeseburger
  18. Without outright disagreeing, would you care to explain more?
  19. Of course we will. It wouldn't make sense otherwise.
  20. Visit this thread (titled Cheap Unlimited Lego Rope) if you find you don't have enough white rope http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=71349&st=0&gopid=1349110entry1349110 I could easily web a party of 12 dwarves with this! Yes, 12 dwarves, not 13 -
  21. Finally took some pictures! Sorry for the poor quality, I only have an old Quickcam at the moment. And found some pure white string - identical to the one Lego used for Shelob's web in set 9470! The correct term for what I use is CROCHET THREAD. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crochet_thread Here is my idea to make pure black string - used by LEGO in dozens upon dozens of their technic / city cranes. Though, NOT the same as the very thick string LEGO uses for some larger cranes like the 8460, 8421 and 8854.
  22. Yeah, www.theonering.net sure is the best fansite. I remember it being already big and active BEFORE the movies even came out. No wonder they were the first to receive the high-res image of Bag End directly from LEGO.
  23.  Those long pneumatics would be awesome in a new forklift also... As for the discontinued theme... what do you suppose this is? It's not Technic, certainly not City (evergreen theme), neither Lord of the Rings (just started) so the chance of me caring is probably very small. Mindstorms? That would be bad.
