  1. Excellent use of TH parts to build an alternative building. I took two THs, added a few pieces, and made the original wider, taller and deeper - but this is definitely a nice build!
  2. Nice! I was at Uni in Sheffield so I remember seeing things like this (maybe not working though; I think it was on the way to the "Fat Cat" for a swift pint or two!). Excellent.
  3. I was inspired to build this when Lego brought out their new Gothic-style arches. When I saw them, I instantly thought, "these would be ideal for a rendering of American Gothic!". So, here we are. First, with the characters in focus: Then with the house in focus: And the actual picture: This was first exhibited at Brickfair New England in Manchester NH in May 2014. I hope you enjoy and appreciate it!
  4. Excellent! Simple, but elegant; particularly the offset overhang bits.
  5. Indeed, Tom -- glad you made it up! I also posted this on MOCPages -- http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/397056
  6. Very, very nice indeed!
  7. Thank you all for your kind comments! Tom, it was great tho see you and the kids - glad you enjoyed it! Coming out to Amherst in January? Kay, yes, the two distinct colours are subtle, but are there in the original. @lightningtiger. No interior (yet) . The crafting of the windows may make it difficult. We shall see ...
  8. Thank you! Yes, the show was excellent. Part of their annual "Glory Days of the Railroad" festival. They'd been wanting NELUG to exhibit there for some time ... and we were able to do it this year.
  9. Well, here is poor Hamlet, looking for a new apartment ... 2B or not 2B?
  10. Here is my latest MOC, and it's a first for me: a real-life building! This is the Old Post Office building in White River Junction, VT. It is now, rather interestingly, the Centre for Comic Studies. I built it for a show NELUG did in White River Junction this last weekend (Sep 13). One other member also built the old White River Junction Train Station, so it was nice to have two "real world" buildings out there. Enjoy! Here is the original:
  11. The one in Danbury CT opened in April 2014, and the one in West Hartford is slated for this year too; however, it says "Coming Soon" and "May 2014" -- but I have yet to hear an exact date! I have the Grand Opening set from the Danbury one, and will gather the West Hartford one too ... once I know the date.
  12. I too have never, ever had any missing pieces in sets!
  13. Hamlet is moving into a new apartment building, but he faces a dilemma: should he live in 2B or not 2B? That is the question. This was on display a BrickFair New England May 8-11 2014
  14. The Secretary of the Ministry of Silly Walks on his way down the corridor to his office. This journey has taken rather longer lately, as his walk seems to have got much sillier. Inspired by my love of Monty Python. This vignette was at BrickFair New England 8-11 May, 2014! It was nominated in the "Most Amusing" category.
  15. Well, I'm glad to say that I *did* end up buying this one! From a fellow NELUGer, and I picked it up at last weekend's BrickFair New England fan festival in Manchester NH. Since the convention had an area for "Classic Space", I got to work building it, and set it up for display. I had it running for parts of the show. Having built it and experienced it at last, I can indeed agree with the review that it is an awesome set, and I am very glad to have been able to acquire it!
  16. I have the chance to get a used copy of this set for $250 - I think I'm just going to have to say "yes" to it ...
  17. This MOC just won "Best in Show" at the Brattleboro (VT) Museum's 5th Annual Lego Competition!
  18. Wow - an incredible build! I love the wall's texture, plus the SNOT road. It'll be interesting to see the final layout, but this by itself is awe-inspiring.
  19. I love this whole scene! The modern building is fantastic (and gives me an idea of what a load of those 6x4 windows look like together; I have 150 of them to use somehow), and the bridge across is a great idea. Nice road too.
  20. This is a very nice mini build! Great use of alternative techniques such as fences for windows and the balcony!
  21. It's Brattleboro VT, right next to the NH border, about 10 miles north of MA ... With mpaquest, use: Brattleboro Museum & Art Center, 10 Vernon St, Brattleboro, VT 05301 Details: http://www.brattleboromuseum.org/2010/07/21/bmacs-third-annual-lego-contest-for-all-ages/ Runs: Oct 26-28 I'll report back when I drop off on Oct 24!
  22. I'll be picking this MOC up next Wednesday from Wenham Museum, where it's been on display for the last 6 weeks. Then, that same day, I'll be taking it to Brattleboro Museum for their 5th Annual Lego Competition. Huzzah!
  23. I love this MOC! The garden, the incorporation of both Pizza shop & Bike shop, the apartment ... a gorgeous building!
  24. A great corner modular! I'll have to check in on your other Bricksterdam buildings ...
