Wow. That is one early attempt at a review. Oh well, the early bird gets the worm , as they say. Also, was anyone else amused by the "chi dropping" feature? Anyway, that set is looking more and more interesting.

Awww...the widdle nixels are adorable. Why must you make such lovable villains, LEGO? Just joking; I generally like the villains more anyway, and it has been more-or-less proven that it is impossible to make a children's theme's villain less interesting than the heroes. Plus, you seem to get one each per group of Mixels. Anyway, the bulky blue Mixel seems like one of the more interesting sets, as apposed to the hilarious but otherwise uninteresting orange "hammerhead" Mixel.

About the "Ninja X-1 Charger=Car seen in Samurai X's headquarters" debacle, how exactly did we forget that we have blades that can transform technology into similar but subtly different vehicles (and can give them a new paint job, as well)?

Legends of Chima future tribes ideas.
DraikNova replied to DarkSurgeXL's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Snakes do NOT look like eels. For one thing, eels have a second pair of jaws inside their main jaws; for another, eels are thin, rather than circular or even broad, like snakes. Also, Gecko tribe. Although the "I'm freaking out" look that gecko eyes have might make the unfortunate implications of the Chi obsession even clearer. However, since we're having Phoenix-es (plural? Is it just phoenix?), a dragon tribe would make sense (finally a chance at good wing pieces, although the ones for bats would work quite well), but I hope that, above all, LEGO avoids the cliche of humanoid dinosaurs (following the concept of the revived animals of summer 2014), which has become even worse than with other animals. Pterosaurs might be nice, but they would require a new wing mold, as the bat one would be quite unfitting (the bone structure is quite different; the arm is in a different position during flight, there's the pteroid bone and the lack of supporting bones running through the wing itself, etc.). -
If you look at the packaging of the Kaiju Queen, you can see that the edges of the cocoon can be folded aside, which means it's a flexible plastic, far more so than the brain material if I'm any judge.

What's Up With The Hero Factory Media Center?
DraikNova replied to ToaBulk98's topic in LEGO Action Figures
About the multi-media thing, wouldn't it be nice if HF did some more police-y stuff or maybe more along the lines of a classic mystery story? EDIT: To avoid this post being off-topic: why was HF FM taken off the site completely? It's not like it would have cost (much) money to keep on there.- 12 replies

Fangar is a sabe-toothed cat.

This is, like pretty much all of your MOCs, great. It has the same unique style and aesthetics as Shellshock, which is really great for making robots look realistic. Also, it looks like it could go toe-to-to with something much larger than it, which is always a plus.

Tunneler Beast only has one cocoon piece, compared to the Walker's three, and the color seems slightly and strangely off somehow. However, you're going to be getting Rocka's new mech as well, which features three of the red cocoon pieces, which might help you mod Tunneler Beast a bit. However, whilst the first option gets you one more cocoon piece, blue is a much rarer color than either black, gold or red, and is often useful if you want to avoid or tone down the infamous "so much fluorescent/translucent pieces it burns out my eyes"-effect. So it really depends on what you want. EDIT: Zoom in as far as you can onto Tunneler Beast's middle pair of legs. See? There's something that looks like a 4m bone, but with two ball joints. I'm probably just looking at a normal 3m bone wrong, though.

It seems the Hurricane Heist set features a movable cockpit, along with a SW missile launcher.
-
Wait, Vardy has a sawblade? That thing just blends right into the background. Oh well, it makes the set far more interesting. Also, Sir Fangar would have looked much better with Splitter Beast's way of holding things: the claw(which should have been claws, as the asymmetric look does not work with that paw) is set one balljoint further back and the front joint is used by a bionicle style hand.
-
So it turns out I was wrong. Anyway, the spaceship is increasing in awesomeness with every photo of it we get. Soon, all our budgets shall be spent on it. Also, robo-Emmet! The grey piece of resistance shall be much more useful than the "normal" red one.

Two things I've noticed: massive usage of the Waspix connector (there are two in the Kaiju Queen alone (one for the walker, one for the Queen and possibly one more for her wings) and that we can now make a nearly fully translucent creature, with only the torso bone and possibly the lower jaw being black.
-
Check the length of the piece under his torso at the largest magnification. You can see that it's the exact size and shape of the front of the snake tail. It really fits with his "evil spirit" motif, too. EDIT: Just checked again. It's actually a slope, connected to the walker by another slope. It looks quite like he's supposed to be part of the walker itself; just look at the transition between the "leg" slope and the slope under it.

That is the silliest animation I have ever seen. Ever. Which is made even better by the narrator sounding so serious.

Sure, these aren't the best sets, but let me name the two most useful parts: awesome shoulder armor (although the absence of tr. light blue ones is annoying) and a longer type of tr. light blue bone, as seen on Sir Fangar and the Mammoth. And the Vulture has a tr. blue 5m armor shell on his leg, plus the use of tr. light blue hands on all of the villains. The tr. orange ones, on the other hand, work significantly less well. The only set that seems decent to me is Fangar, for reasons that should be obvious: skeletal Phoenix wings, the Vulture: ditto, Cragger's gold overload syndrome (and the blue eyes do not work well on him), Laval and the Panther: ditto (and Laval's mane looks ridiculous). I do like the new shield print, and the front part of Laval's sword seems to be obscuring another new flame part, but the reintroduction of the Zamor launcher is inexplicable(ly useless) and neither the new flame/ice wings, nor the new axe look halfway decent for use in MOCs, much less the sets themselves. I have mixed feelings on the new chest armor; it looks like it should be bulkier. Amusingly, the posing makes sense for the reanimated vulture: they've been sitting in an icy chasm for ages; you'd expect the ice to crush or at least mangle them severely. All things considered, I'll probably end up getting Sir Fangar, as he includes the highest concentration of parts that I'd like to use. To Shakar: His cape is torn because he's been dead for so long. It makes sense for it to have decomposed partially, before the ice covered him.

Crystal Beast has a tr. light blue jaw. Huh, might be interesting (especially if used for the tail of a creature as in the winter combiner). Also, 4m bones in tr. light blue, but no sign of the new Chima claws, which would be a perfect fit. The new variation of Quaza spike is nice, however, and I definitely didn't expect it to be lime (which, while it doesn't make the set look better on it's own, will make MOCcing with it much more fun). I like the Surge&Rocka Machine even more, although it hasn't really changed. It is and was pretty much perfect anyway. The Breez Anchor Machine is one of the best of the wave, and while I don't like the use of SILVER (always with the metallics, LEGO. What is it about metallic colors that always disrupts a good colorscheme?) bohrok eyes, the set is pretty great. Bulk's Driller is more or less identical to LEGOJang's version, although it does not seem to have an incredibly hollow-looking beam connection. It will be interesting to see how that's done. Tunneler Beast is nice and simple, pretty much perfect for it's size. The cocoon piece seems a bit too large to fit on him comfortably, but you can see Surge's new helmet; a little too squashed-down, perhaps. Rocka is again, pretty much identical to LEGOJang's interpretation. The Queen is beautiful, although the most interesting parts are obscured. The wing construction looks as badly as it does because of poor posing, from the look of it. Too bad it only includes one green cocoon (along with the blue one). The gold is far too shiny for the set's overall look. The cocoons are apparently semi-transparent, which makes no sense, seeing as the show versions were completely opaque. Also, the bottom of the cocoon pieces are all black, which will reduce their usefulness. Best of all, all of the sets have the other construction of claw, providing many sources of the pneumatic piece. And, yes Shakar, I was the one who pointed that out. In summation: this wave rocks.

I am loooving that new claw piece. The mammoth walker is significantly less interesting to me now (phew, it's spared my wallet), as it is far too skeletal in the back (while the top is excellent and looks MOC-quality). On the other hand, or possibly paw, or even talon, the Phoenix temple is looking so very much better. The excellent Saber vehicle and awesome transforming function and countless other features make this too great a set to be true. The Fire Lion is even worse than I thought, however, and the same goes for Eris' vehicle (and would go for Fangar's Walker as well, if it weren't for that beautiful tr. blue minifig armor). The real question is why the mammoth bigfig has three tusks and no trunk.
-
I love the Overlord's new form (which looks more like it is integrated into the "vehicle" than that it uses a snake tail, although the length of the piece seems to say otherwise). The aesthetic is very fitting for a villain of his type. Best of all, however, the set seems to include a new mold of 6x6 dish with a complex pattern! There seem to be 4x4 discs in the back of the temple, possibly for some sort of launcher.
-
The truck seems quite nice, now that I can see it clearly. The trailer's internal laboratory is quite detailed and the mech looks much better.

Considering the major set releases connected to the LEGO movie, I think we could expect a Ninjago CMF line (Dareth, Misako, the pirates, the mailman, etc.), but also one or two sets connected to the older plotlines, which would be the perfect way to release some of these.

Usually a few blurry pictures, maybe a description or two. We'll have to wait for New York before we get quality pictures, however.

[MOC] Bionicle Toa Hicann the toa of Thunder
DraikNova replied to Legofan225's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Here's some constructive criticism: try replacing the red wing pieces with silver ones, and either putting the jetpack farther up, or replacing the Ehlek claw with another jetpack. Also, I agree with N130S, it needs different legs, but to accommodate that, the torso would have to become one or two modules longer as well. What looks good on it...well, the claws you use to secure him in his jetpack fit perfectly, actually. -
Things that are still missing include the windscreens, and the blank winter lower/summer upper jaw piece has apparently either been ordered to bits or not been produced enough. I was planning to order a handful of the new claw pieces, maybe a few assorted jumpers and several blank black heads (both upper and lower jaws). Those parts are some of the most useful in Hero Factory, and I get the feeling that each wave has and will contribute one more piece which will be used for many waves afterward.

The Garmech The four-armed mech from the show, featuring independently rotating sections and pose-able arms and legs. It would feature Garmadon and the Overlord as a purple version of the "crystal ball" piece (connected to the mech's shoulder for no apparent reason). The Dragolord Giant, purple-and-black dragon with pose-able wings and legs, plus a feature to shoot several 1x1 tr. purple cones from his mouth in a single blast. It would feature golden Lloyd. Aesthetics similar to those of the Lightning Dragon, using cheese slopes and other such details for scales. This is a good idea of how it could be done. The good old Serpentine Bus The gigantic, multi-segment transformed tour bus, shown just before the Devourer is awakened. Decouple-able compartments, flip-out turrets, swishing tail and detailed interior. Pythor and Wu, and some other Serpentine (two of the second rank of warriors, maybe some others as well) would be included. Sheer size would make this a D2C.
