Should Guilds of Historica be pitched to LEGO World Builder?
Kai NRG replied to Lego David's topic in Guilds of Historica
Hmm. I think we have too much lore and all kinds of miscellaneous uncategorized stuff. It would be a lot of work to bring it together for a cohesive world, and while you were at it, you may find some stuff you'd want to change anyways. I think you could definitely do a world inspired by GoH. Maybe take a look at some of the other Castle RPGs for even more inspiration too. But it would probably be easier to make it a great world--one cohesive story--if you started from scratch. A few nods to GoH would be pretty cool though. There'd also be permissions and things. We've got so much backstory and things like maps, important minifigure characters, and so forth from many different players, several of whom are completely inactive. I wouldn't even know where to begin to try to get the right permission to use the GoH maps for instance. And if you don't use the same map, it's hardly the same world. How is World Builder looking for a castle world though? Does it seem like that's something that could go through? We do have a lot of talented world creators here, obviously, and you might be able to put together a good team! -

You know you actually only need one build per certification, unless I've forgotten everything. Sometimes you list three or four. Anyway, I can't match jtooker for his thoughtful comments on each one. But +1 for everything except FP, I'm not really seeing that on your Ambasador Gisela shot - just a blurred sky background, which is only FP very loosely. I would also say the one-on-one fight in the Pig Pen is not really a battle scene. But your one in the pool build kills it, of course! And Fishery and Shrine definitely seems to be in too many places but it does fit in all of them, so just shave it down to four (it's four right? boy has it been a long time) and that'll be good! Oh, and if you ask for any more credits for a old builds, you'll have to let me know specifically because I'll be sure to miss it if you just edit the post.- 343 replies

Great build, I really like the bright swamp color! I also think the smooth rockwork looks great. Must have been some trouble to get these cozy Avalonian building materials into the swamp!

I'll give it a few more days to see if a couple others would like to grade. Not much point in opening it up if we don't have at least 4 willing graders. @Grover am I right that you haven't gotten credit approval for any of the builds on your list? If so, let me know and I'll run through them all and make a one-time post here giving you +1 for each credit.- 343 replies

I haven't noticed many Kaliphlinians busy dishing out credits. You'll never graduate at this rate. Anybody around to help? Maybe I will invite other guild members to approve builds too. If you're from another guild and would be happy to help grade, please let me know, so I can see if there's enough interest for that to be practical. Otherwise I think I will just crown myself and say that I count for all four approvals. The IC excuse will be that I have my doctorate which (correct me if I'm wrong) no one else does.- 343 replies

I'm late, but +1 for the UoP credit!

Looking over your UoP credit applications and I realized I never even commented on this in the first place! Quite an oversight. +1 for the credit and really nice job on this build, especially the frozen lake, of course!

Neat little scene, I like what you did with the broken wall - great subtle curve.

Impressive job on the cracked stone! Edit: for the credit! You did a great job on that lighting!

Yes, you can have as many side characters as you want! -
This has to be one of my favorite Brick Seas forts. Like I said on Flickr, the layout, and also I think the roof style, makes it look like a frontier home-fort. Also, great textures and coloring with the yellowed bricks! In fact I'm liking this so much, I'm going to go back and favorite it. I don't favorite much, so that's quite a compliment.

Not sure about the green on the edges but that's a pretty sweet wall technique!

Great job kicking off the calendar you two! Where's the left saber over the doorway from Fraunces?

Great job on these forts and the barrack! I'm impressed by the slanting walls on the yellow and white fort - very smooth! The combination between slant and rounded towers on the masonry brick fort is also great. Nice use of lime green for under the vegetation too! -
