  1. Thanks guys and gals! I've dabbled in forced perspective before, but this is probably my best so far! If it was me, it would be Sprite, but who knows?
  2. Well of course I don't know Swedish, but just looking at the pictures, you've improved a ton! Maybe I'll make it there one day...
  3. The petal, yes I am aware that the stalk has not been used elsewhere.
  4. How better to relax on a summer afternoon than with a burger, fries, and a drink, overlooking a sandy beach? This build was a bit of a challenge, as it's actually two different parts, so I had to do quite a lot of experimentation with the camera angle, height of the balcony, distance, etc (and in the end, I ended up using one of the first photos...). SNOT sand and water can be pretty tough too, especially since I didn't have quite as much blue as I had hoped. Hope you enjoy it, comments welcome!
  5. Welcome Kejtar, nice introduction! One thing that is a bit unclear to me, has he returned and taken back his title and land or is he just planning on it? Regardless, nice fig and enjoy your time in GoH!
  6. Welcome, to GoH, even if you joined the wrong guild. Pretty cool the amount of new members now!
  7. Probably the fact that you (seem) to have used mostly 1x2 DK red bricks for the second story of the larger house, but one right on top of the other (not off-set at all), which does in general give less texture/stability, but actually in that color it's hardly noticeable IMHO. Still, it would be nice to have a few 1x1s...
  8. A gas station for boats? Of were you really thinking about a floating gas station? Well, you can take it, I don't really plan on making one float...
  9. Really a huge interior, looking great so far too! I like the bunk beds, can't wait to see the finished thing!
  10. I might... if I can find a way to tie it into an Alien Landscape or make it float... (just kidding, though I will try to enter!)
  11. Yeah, I see you're point about the chain story - it would be nice to have just one story going for non-confusion purposes, but then it would also be nice to have a new build at least every other day... As far as ranks, etc., I was thinking it might be nice to base your rank on the overall quality of your creations, not on how much you've built (we've got titles that cover that already, at least in some of the guilds).
  12. Thanks, GRogall! Those sets are looking better and better!
  13. Do you mean you'd disagree with it in respect to yourself, or, what I was trying to say, that I think the majority wouldn't build as much (or post their builds as much) if free-build points end? Of course I don't know everyone's motivation, and I'm sure there are some who build for GoH just because they like building castle and GoH offers a story-line, background, interested community, etc., but I know that for me at least, without free-build points I'd still build, but it wouldn't be the same, and I would say that that sort of build and post without helping much but your own skill (assuming you'll improve over time) isn't much of a motivation. It's sort of a chain reaction, as if enough people loose interest than the atmosphere you were referring to will pretty much vanish... not that I'm trying to say I'm that pessimistic about Historica's future!
  14. As long as we're speculating on Historica's future - well maybe (since the next big thing seems like it might be Sci-Fi) we'll get historica 10000 years in the future, and of course, everything Sci-Fi-y... Seriously though, I think there aren't that many of us that build for free-build points only (in general, it's either to advance your character's story so you can catch up to challenge VI, or - at least this is what I'm doing all the time - tying a build in with some other Challenge/contest/competition, or a combination of the two) - and if there weren't even free-build points offered, I would think that Historica would really get very few builds - what's the point of posting here as well as whatever else you're building for if you won't even get free build points? Personally, I'm not sure we should wait until October for the next thing (depending on how big of a thing you were thinking about, I guess). I really liked DC's idea of one person starting off the story, then leaving it for some one else - that sort of match-up idea really appeals to me, and I bet something like that would be fun to watch even if you didn't participate. And I think a few builder-to-builder face-offs would be cool too... As is there's no real rank system within the guilds. That has positives, of course, but I wonder what it would be like if we did have ranks? Just a bit of speculation...
  15. Somehow I think DK red and brown go really well together... better at least than sand green and light grey - but obviously it's just me! Really great job here, posing and all, the larger house is fantastic! The third to last picture is a great scene with some really good expressions, however I would suggest you put the brown dot (1x1 round plate) the lady warrior is kneeling on farther back if possible to make it less noticeable. Just a suggestion, great work, chicken scene especially!
  16. Good idea Gideon, though I do think that part of the idea was to leave it open - write whatever you want (within reason), because we aren't just developing the current state of Historica, but all it's past as well. Of course now that GoH has been around for a year now I guess? - there's a bit more already developed history, so a summary would be useful. I have been keeping the Character Locations and Facts up-to-date (except for me, I have too many characters! ), but of course that's a bit random, as each character only covers their own backstory. There is the general timeline of Historica, but that's not extremely detailed especially for the last couple hundred yrs.
  17. These are awesome, especially the Hornet, Praying Mantis, and Walking stick... Fantastic job! Great use for some of those pieces!
  18. If a piece is used in both CMF and non-CMF sets in the same color but with a different part ID (according to Bricklink), and mine most likely is from the CMF, will I be disqualified for using it? Specifically, I used a light pink flower without realizing that it in all probability came from the Bride (S7) in my S7 vig. Brickset lists in in it's own ID category, however there are other light pink flowers from other sets (just with a different ID). Do I need to change the flower? (I'd go ahead and do it anyways, but I've already photographed it and the pictures turned out pretty good.)
  19. I would suggest both of you check out the entry threads, there have already been some nice entries posted, I think you'll soon see what the idea is. Basically, you build a vig for a fig but without using the fig itself (or any pieces from that series and above).
  20. Great job! Neat minifig posing and the river looks really good! Nice cottages there too!
  21. Great job with this Ecc, love the concept of the villagers fighting back! All the little wooden details are well done too! Just one thing bothers me a bit about the build, the rockwork isn't quite as good as your usual; more just straight up and down, I would have liked to see a bit more variety. Nice work regardless though!
  22. Congrats Burlogh! Well deserved, that was a great idea there!
  23. That looks great ska! Shame you don't have enough to finish the second tower, but at least Victor has given us an excuse for that sort of stuff! BTW, who is that talking to the ceaser? Looks almost like the clockwork robot to me... Gideon, sure hope you can get an entry in! I don't think you'll have much trouble though.
  24. Welcome to GoH, great introduction and nice fig!
