  1. With the threat from Revolword gone, Ageven stopped by a shop he was told sold wigs. Unfortunately there were no black ones he could change for his brown... This was a quick MOC I had an idea for when I came up with the wig-powderer... I actually had quite a few surplus tables and knick-knacks, I think I'll try to do a shop interior (no exterior) after I destroy this... Credit to Elkund! for the cobblestone technique. Interior; Ziza inspects the clothing for sale while her assistant powders the wigs. As I mentioned, this wig powderer was the reason for the build... so I hope you like it! Top story (which I unfortunately didn't get a good picture of) houses this game board... something I was very pleased with personally... Comments are welcome, this is one of those rare (for me) completely unprovoked free-builds (in other words, I'm not entering this into any competition etc...) so I hope you enjoy it!
  2. Great mod, the height is much improved and the fact that it can still set two figs is a plus. Methinks reddish brown wheels would go better than black, though. The front and back do seem a bit less rounded off in the mod, I guess since the overall length is smaller. Looks much more realistic however!
  3. Of course, but then you also get a lot of other pieces, which, if common, could also be fairly useful (dk grey round 1x1s, light grey cheese slopes, for example).
  4. I don't think so, seems to me like it would be a good way to get quite a few crows.
  5. Historical MOCs Thread? I may be missing something, but are you referring to the forum (of which GoH is a subforum)? If so... I don't think so. At least I don't think it's been done before. I suppose if you changed it a bit, but even that might be pushing it... For question number two... unfortunately you can't. Even if you could, I bet it would be a while before it would be scored, but ZC has said that free builds don't earn that many points. I don't know how much not that many is, but it must really be very little, considering the amount of (superb, I may add) builds he threw into his challenge VI entry (even though they would only be scored insofar as they enhanced the story) rather than make as separate free-build. They are scored on a 50 point score-sheet (so to speak) but that's not 50 (potential) gold. My guess is it would be somewhere between 10 and 25?
  6. Great job! Good to see some more collab builds (even if they are Mitgardian...), I'll be interested to see what SK has next! Excellent rockwork in particular, and the wooden sections on the castle are well done!
  7. That's a good idea, I guess what your talking about is something like the Valaryio topic but for the hand? I do think we should wait to see what story wins Challenge VI as that might mean no hand left! (I got rid of them - not that I'm going to win - but I got rid of them in my story.)
  8. Title: Triumphal Arch Theme: Historical Minifigure: Cesar
  9. As others mentioned, the broken leaves are a good idea... I have one that I was thinking might be useful in a helmet or something, but I've never needed a green plume! Nice work with the landscaping, those bushes in particular look great!
  10. Thanks guys! Yes, my beautiful penguin... Thanks! That's a good suggestion, I probably should have looked up a few reference pictures (what color is the body?), but anyways, most of the pieces I used for the body I don't have in brown - unfortunately. Well, the problem is that the gap is not a whole stud in size... instead it's the amount at the end of, for example, a headlight brick or cheese slope (the approx. 1.2 here). So there's no easy way to fix it. It might be possible by a very clever use of pieces with studs on multiple sides, to eliminate the gap altogether... but I'm not sure and didn't think it was that important. IRL it's a bit less noticeable as the angle is generally not as straight-on. Of course, if you didn't mind getting your pieces dirty, you could probably squeeze some real ketchup (or mustard, if it were my hamburger) in there... As far as the flag, I knew I would have to try the technique out sometime soon after I read that article! I hope some of you find it useful...
  11. Did you get the PM I sent you? Feel free to (please do) delete this once you see it!

  12. This is pretty much a result of several table-scraps I had laying around, and I had been wanting to implement the Lowell Sphere technique for a while... and that April Fools joke gave me some inspiration... (no ostriches though!) My brother though the eagle was a penguin at first sight... *sigh* Also, I used the Brick Bending technique for the flag, which was really the main inspiration for this: Comments are welcome!
  13. Great idea, and love the way you were able to incorporate it into the wall! A lot of very nice details as well!
  14. Excellent job, as Ecc said the throne room is stunning! Your other builds are great as well, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that brought back the adventurers!
  15. Glad to hear you say so! I actually wasn't trying to get the last build looking like I had used (tried to use) forced perspective though, but I can see where that would have helped! The reason I didn't take it at an angle though was because I was running out of room on the paper... Thanks! Yeah, somehow I seem to have less light grey every time I use it... Thanks! It's great that you can feel it, that's what I was aiming for!
  16. That's not a bad idea. I had considered asking for it to be pinned (and it had been suggested before), but like you say there are already a lot of pinned threads. I don't find it terribly time consuming, but it is somewhat complicated to know what to include, what's not important, and where the person actually is. I myself used it quite a bit, both as a handy reference for names (if it weren't for that I would have to rely on my memory and the few names I had picked up... but for example who would know that Legonardo was the Lord of Gelvim?) and as a general background for the characters. Perhaps it would be a good idea to just have the character's background rather than trying to keep it up to date with all that is happening to them. That, and (where available) where they are currently plus names & backgrounds for the major secondary character would be easier to update and probably just as useful. @ Gideon, yes, the wiki would be a good place for something like this, but it is mainly a EB project, and my guess is a lot of GoH EBers won't really want to create a Wiki account or keep their page updated... and in general, though I've used the wiki extensively myself, I doubt too many (non-Kaliphlin especially) have. On the other (Victor Related) note, just judging by what he has said, he does appear to have been the real evil, though of course that is open to interpretation, and it would certainly have been/would be an interesting twist to have somebody/thing worse behind it all!
  17. Well, the outside at least could be grass/foliage (though I can understand if that's in short supply) and you could have some stones (round 1x1 grey & dk grey plates, for example), or at least a few peasants walking around inside, for example. But I'm sure there are other things you could come up with!
  18. In general, you've really improved, and the wall texture is nicely done as is the tudor style section inside. I do think you could put a bit more thought into your landscaping... and also, if this is just a portion of the wall, it might be better without the extra studs on either side.
  19. Brilliant work ZC, it's great to see that you've written the story to win (so to speak), very good ending and well thought out plots! Somewhat ironic title though... reminds me of my typo Untied... Fantastic builds as well, especially Marcroft (absolutely love the transitioning from the Dark Grey rockwork to the Light Grey path) and the interior build (amazing hand mosaic!), but the battle scene is also fantastic and the hero builds are awesome too! Certainly one of the best, the fact that you so clearly outlined the future conflict (where a lot left it, myself included, perhaps a bit too open ended) is sure to tell in your favor!
  20. Great job with this LD, your irregular borders just keep getting better! That roof is great too and excellent rockwork!
  21. CN, it's not the sort of guild you can join, but there was a Valaryio Challenge (by MikeyB), not too long ago, and anyone is free to build in it. On another note, boy have there been a lot of Challenge entries! Great job everyone, I really was wondering how many there would be since it was such a time-consuming challenge! And I made it to the "Improved" list... thanks Z! And also, I haven't recorded all the details from the Challenges on the Character info and Location thread... because, since some of them overlap, I need to know what actually happened and what would happen if you won before I can update the list. And also, the main idea was to help with Challenge VI so I'm not sure there's much point in keeping it updated. Of those of you who knew about it, did you use it/do you think you will? How much & was it info you could have easily gotten somewhere else? If a few of you could give your feedback on that I'd appreciate it. Do keep in mind that it's fairly time consuming for me, so I don't want to keep updating it if it really isn't that useful to the majority!
  22. It's a group (set up by DC), that aims to better the skills of the builders involved (among other things, probably).
  23. Excellent job, especially on the interior, those arches are awesome! Interesting story and good use of the Chima ravens!
  24. Great work, the golems coming to life was quite clever! Great interior scene, and the Kaliphlin fortress is well done too!
  25. Great job with the boat, and good ending to the story! Especially well done woodwork on the interior, and the gold highlights look great as well!
