Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Kai NRG replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Go for it! I wish CCC were at some other date this year... I'm going to be away from just about all my bricks from mid Nov until January! -
Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Those are given by staff, sometimes for a comment (like "Hippy Kicker"), sometimes for MOCing or other stuff (like "Mitgardia's MOCing Machine"). -
Thanks SK! That's one of the things I like most about micro; since it's smaller, you can give a lot of attention to every single detail! Thanks! The build started off with the horses, then came the carriage, and then (after a few failed attempts at scenery), the rest! Thanks Tomas of Tortuga!

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Much as Valdivus said, all you need to do to sign up is build a sig-fig (a minifigure who will represent you in your builds and storyline) and give that character a short background story (some are longer than others!), and then post it here. Most members use Flickr or Brickshelf (or something simmilar) to upload their photos and then deeplink them here. (If you need help with that we'd be happy to help!) There isn't much of a in guild ranking system, but to earn points for your guild you can free-build (basically, build anything relevant to Historica, and post as a seperate topic in the forum). After your character intro you are free to build when and how you like, however there are often benefits to entering guild specific challenges (one of those is going on currently), occasionally there are storyline builds or other collaborative builds that are also enjoyable. And there are the "main" Historica Challenges - Challenge I is going on right now in Nocturnus! -
Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Probably 'cause they're afraid you'll abscond with it! I have lots of misc. wheels and windshields/windows in particular that I don't use, but most of my other pieces have come into use at one time or another. -
Thanks everyone! Thanks ZC! Thanks Infernum! Thanks Gideon! Yeah, I've found that (especially in micro-scale) size isn't always so important. It was nice not to have to worry about having too few pieces for a change! (Actually I was a little short on light grey 1x1 rounds, but managed to borrow some...)

My latest free-build is up! (Picture = link to topic!) -
This MOC is set long, long ago, back when the high king of Historica ruled and had his little summer palace up in an invite nook in the Rakath Mountains of Kaliphlin. King Arthur was in a good mood, as he always was when he looked forward to a nice relaxing vacation in his summer castle, and Queen Guinevere was in a bad mood, as she always was when riding in a carriage, particularly along the edge of such a bumpy precipice as this one - and presently, after a harder bump than usual, King Arthur stuck his head out of the window and called to the driver, "The Queen and I will walk now, I think," and the rest of the perilous ascent was made on foot, but Guinevere's temper was not improved. The Castle front: Back: ...King Arthur stuck his head out of the window... This probably represents my best rockwork, I was very happy with the overall shape. Initially I had planned to make the castle up a bit higher but didn't have enough and the pathway would have been too unbelievable! And of course the carriage... I actually spent at least a day just on that. Comments are welcome! I hope you enjoy!

It's easier the higher rank you are (count, duke, whatever), but you simply invite multiple people into a PM conversation. (Your rank determines how many people you can invite.) Be sure to send the PM as an invite, not copy. -

It's probably three times what I own. Unless you put the desk on the scale too... Out of curiosity, how many of your pieces do you estimate you never use? My guess (of my pieces, of course) would be about 1/5th-1/4th. I'm not sure at all though... @SK, It sounds like it'll be a really great build! Can't wait to see it! -

Yeah, those are definitely the ones to stay away from! If not you'll just keep expanding and expanding and expanding... -
Nice little house! Like the little chicken area especially, though I am wondering how the chicken is going to squeeze in through that hole?

Thanks Gabe! What do you guys think about the challenge? I'm not really sure which side I'd rather be assigned to, but I don't plan on using my sig-fig either way. Might not manege to build for the third category but I should make the other two. -

Trust me, the cold will get to you fellows eventually. Or we'll warm up and slow you down. -
Thanks everyone! Not exactly, I was thinking they were just supplies. But they do look a bit like bedrolls. Yeah, I probably didn't need to do quite so many layers. And a few rectangular pieces would probably have saved me a bit... good idea! They actually aren't attached at all, just balanced there! But they're not leaving Kaliphlin!

Ageven heads back down Kaliphlin to Auner to found a city, leaving Kaflar and his followers at the ancient site of Kaligem (which for story purposes means you probably won't hear about them for a long. long time). This was a very fast MOC, I wanted to give myself some more practice with an irregular border, but I had to conclude that I really don't have enough pieces yet for any sizable vig that way... Also wanted to get some more Kaliphlin free-builds out there! C&C welcome!

Thanks all! -
Excellent build Legonardo! The tudor sections especially are amazing, but the whole house/tower is great. I do agree with you about the base not seeming perfect. The rockwork is fantastic but something just seems off? Hard to put a finger on it. Fantastic work nonetheless! And you couldn't add a bit more smoke?

I think we have about as good (if not better!) a core of good builders as the other four guilds, what we don't have is the huge new member count that some others (especially Mitgardia) have. Right now we're getting swamped with all the builds Mitgardia and Nocturnus with the tribe challenge are putting out there but I'm guessing that will slow down a little, eventually. And... I got TBBed! I'm planning on using the final MOC for GoH too, if I can come up with a suitable storyline. Couldn't help bragging... -
Thanks all! Thanks Kabel! I love the way the archways turned out as well! Thanks! I only wish I had been able to extend the wall a little higher... you can catch a glimmer of the crack in a couple of photos... Thanks! I took it on a really windy day so trying to balance everything was dreadful!

Welcome (back) SSchimidt! -
Parts One, Two,Three, Four, and Five are not essential to understanding this but might help. Crash! Crash! Crash! And even as the wall came tumbling down, Crash! The invaders - a motley band, all armed to the teeth, poured through the breach as soon as they could. But the defenders were not about to give in; they stood their ground bravely, and from all sides of the town men came running. Kalaflar and Gascoyne were at the farthest end, but no sooner did they hear the crash than they dashed through the city at full speed. But though the defenders fought bravely, and contested every foot of ground, it was impossible for them to hold out against such numbers. They were pushed back, slowly but surely, and it was not until the town's great cathedral that Gascoyne finally caught sight of the black knight, at the head of the orderless crowd. Spurring his horse forward, he chased the knight right through the cathedral doors. The few people who had taken refuge there scurried to the sides. Without hurry, but without hesitation, the black knight rode all the way to the front of the cathedral. Gascoyne paused as the knight wheeled his huge horse around, then they both galloped towards each other. Kalaflar, spellbound, watched from an aisle. He could not help but feel that it was hardly a contest. The black knight was seasoned by a dozen battles; Gascoyne had just begun to wield a sword. But there was nothing he could do; both knights sped on, their steeds foaming, and Gascoyne, with a shout, raised himself in the saddle and swung his sword straight for the knight's helm. He deflected it, with the tip of his shield, and gave Gascoyne a back-handed stroke as he passed. For one instant he stopped to look at his prostrate foe, then he turned, and left without a word. Kalaflar ran forward, but it was too late. Blinded, for the moment, by rage and despair, he swung almost violently at the nearest pillar, and then, mounting Gascoyne's horse, rode out of the cathedral. Comments are welcome! I'm not quite sure I should say so, but practically the entire tales of the past storyline was so that I could use this one build for GoH too... yeah... Thanks for checking it out!
