I assume one could obtain it (or a similar product) from most reputable art supply stores, but is there any particular store you recommend?

I'm fascinated because this is something I'm interested in doing myself, not for LEGO purposes but for an upcoming university project where I'll composite miniature sets into live footage. Will you be able to take progress images Col. Whipstick so we can see what you're upto? Also do you have any diagrams or concept drawings of what you plan to create so we have a visual representation?

PICTORIAL REVIEW: 6274 Caribbean Clipper
Mister Phes replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Pirates
Who gave you the Caribbean Clipper and Black Seas Barracuda for Christmas, Mr Assamite? Was it someone else or was this one of those Christmas presents from "self"? -
That's good advice Mr Ghoulrealm, you've obviously used this stuff before. But how much does it cost and what quantities does it come in?

Brickshelf Folders with many images in them get quite difficult to manage, but yes a dedicated Brickshelf account with an efficient folder structure might be the way to go. Then we could just copy & paste a link to the thumbnail of each folder into the first post of the thread, then use the image as link back to the folder. Only problem is that takes time and a degree of dedication.

Look what I just got - Report your latest Pirate LEGO acquisitions
Mister Phes replied to V()()D()()'s topic in LEGO Pirates
Mr Lego2000 you've thrown a whole new light on marketing construction toys to a demographic I presumed it wasn't possible to market construction toys to! -
I'd be sure to be careful enough not to drop it from any height! However, you mentioned it doesn't hold up well to handling and I may be inscribing glyphs onto the megaliths so what I don't want is the material crumbling away when I'm putting it into position.
-
So what you're saying Mr Ghoulrealm is Sculpey is delicate and easily damaged? I'm curious to know because I want to make miniatures (specifically megaliths) which I'll later composite with live footage, however I'm uncertain what medium to construct them out of.

You mean Sculpey? www.sculpey.com

You should conduct tests. With your left foot stamp on a MegaBlok, with your right foot stamp on LEGO stand on a LEGO brick and then compare the pain :-P -

So does LEGO though... At least it has less chance of breaking X-D Well the solid bricks that is. The more specialised parts are still doomed. -
ImperialScouts' response is exactly the kind I was expecting. However after reading Captain Roger's subsequent posts , what I believe he is attempting to achieve is a compilation of pictures of every single "knock off" we find online, identifying their strong and weak points. Although the name he chose for this thread and his first post don't make this really clear. I think the idea has merit but it would take dedication to make this thread work and are there any users who really want to add images from every knock off there is online?

You've raised a really good point there ImperialScouts, because these imitators are just trying to cash in on LEGO's success by reproducing the design with cheap materials. -
They appear to be working now so maybe the jotdot.net server was down when I first checked this thread. Anyways, what substance is the head and claw made from?

Davy Jones & Crew: The Production Thread
Mister Phes replied to Lord Admiral Helden Ravensdorn's topic in Pirate MOCs
I'm unfamiliar with the nomenclature of the Games Workshop Community hence why I was seeking clarification. I couldn't tell if you were being serious because it appears you've used the :P "mouth with tongue poking out" text smiley which often represents joviality. So what happens if you don't like green? Is it easily painted over? -

Is there any particular reason you've emphasised certain words by use of capitalisation? Is this to denote a hint of agitation? I have no problem with you creating a Work In Progress thread nor ever thought you were "some forumgoing loudmouth who has nothing to back up his words". I was wondering what kind of feedback you'd like to receive until the time comes for you to post some update pictures... Just trying to support you - thats all... -
I thought I'd be clever and look RTN up but the results I came across didn't seem right... For example: Google Wikipedia But in lieu of the new information I have discovered this website...
-
I'm not being harsh, I'm just asking a simple question in the interest of housekeeping this forum. Its my job you see. I'll leave the thread as it is but if it doesn't attract a decent response then I'll merge it with one of the existing threads. So it will be up to the users of the Pirate forum to decide on its fate.
-
We already have a couple of threads on this topic, is there really a need to start another or can we just use one of the existing threads?
-
Awesome! We have a LEGO Naval Architect amongst us! But what does the RTN stand for?

Is "Green Stuff" the official name this putty is marketed under or were you just being a wise guy? -

So where do you intend to go with this thread? -

Is there any particular reason for that? Wouldn't a nuetral colour like white or light grey be more logical? -

Do you think you'll have it done within say the next 10 years? X-D -
