With a third mask... Maybe its a first effort at building a MOC, if so then well done. If its built by an experienced MOCer then its time to keelhaul him!
-
I like this angle better come to think of it... One thing though... I'm not sure about they grey tower hanging over the left side (my left that is) because it kind to looks "tacked on". Maybe if it had some structural support underneath it would look more substantial.

Isn't there already a thread on this ship? Maybe Bonaparte could confirm this since he's seen most of the MOCs on Brickshelf recently.
-
Maybe someone could invite him to our forum. So long as he wouldn't be too offended by some of the posts which I don't think were that harsh.

Is there any particular significance to the arrows?
-
Some of my troops can be seen in my signature image. I'll pot it in the thread because I may update my signature in the near future.
-
I think it was released in 2001 so its not that recent. More recent than the Pirate theme, but obviously less recent that the Pirate Duplo. Coincidentally I've recently won a copy of this set on eBay.
-
That's fair enough then, but who is going to be dedicated enough to set this up and keep it updated? Its not easy to dedicate oneself to projects like this in the longterm.

I've got a DVD called "Legendary Pirate Movies" which contains Captain Kidd, The Sone of Monte Cristo and Long John Silver's Return to Treasure Island - the sequel to Disney's Treasure Island. Howzat?
-
I've attempted to contact him in the past and let him know about the forum but unfortunately my efforts have been futile.

So you just imagined the above? X-D

This is a good Black Pearl...

Its an MLCad work! So how accurate it is? It doesn't have sails. Can MLCad do custom sails?

I suppose the best place to start would to be posting a picture of the triple guns so we can visualise exactly what we want to recreate. In other words it will act as a guide rather than relying on our memories, or quite possibly not everyone has seen Dead Man's Chest and won't know what Mr Coffee is referring to. I've done a Google search however it appears there aren't any. I could do screen capture from my Dead Man's Chest DVD but its getting rather late here and I'm in the middle of something.

I thought I'd make a few modifications to Catapult Raft from the hideous 4+ theme to make it more SYSTEMized. The thumbnails below are clickable links I wasn't very pleased with the end result however. It appears the original set comes with too many oversized pieces and when a SYSTEM mini-figure is added the "juniorisation" factor really jumps out. The main modifications I've made is replaced the black catapult piece with a brown equivalent and added a second catapult. I've moved the mast to the front and added a brown plate in the middle. Overall I think it looks fairly bad, not really an improvement over the original - its just reconfigured with a couple of SYSTEM mini-figures thrown in instead. However, I thought I'd show everyone and get some feedback because I think at a later date I shall attempt to build a decent SYSTEM Catapult Raft.

Which Official Pirate LEGO Sets Do You Have?
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Including postage it was about US$14. However, it was MISB otherwise I wouldn't have acquired it, because like you said there's not much point in having it due its lack of useful pieces. So I just grabbed a copy for keeps sake. -
From what I gather quite a lot of space is lost. If I'm not mistaken a real ship would have a couple (or more) decks beneath the waterline depending upon how big it is. But maybe the blue in the image isn't exactly spot on to the blue Col. Whipstick will be using. Afterall, its only representational and traditional LEGO blue isn't that bright.

If you'd like to continue using MonkeyBosun I can look into for you. Awesome! A MOC! So what's the name of this fort?

Does anyone know who built the HMS Floater?
-
Yes, I agree topics need reviving from time to time to provide new information, however I believe that can be done in by posting in the existing thread(s). But here's the deal... Col. Whipstick, if you can keep this thread alive till it reaches at least 20 posts I won't merge it. But if it dies and disappears onto page 2 with under 20 posts then its going to get merged.
-
I recommend you get a Brickshelf account Col. Whipstick as it will give you much more than 100K limit for images. I think Brickshelf has a 4MB (don't quote me on that) image limit which I think is too high. But back to your question... My eye is drawn to Option 1, obviously because the colours are brighter but I also think that look nicer. Option 2 looks a bit drab and I suspect if you put a MOC in an environment like that it would look too colourful against the gloomy background.
-
I probably should clarify I was agreeing with Imperator Viktor Napoleon that the proportions aren't right (I.e. too tall) but I wouldn't say the MOC was downright ugly. Blue and White does have a point, I have noticed in the past we tend to be overly critical when the MOC builder isn't present, however I don't think this thread is as bad as some we've had in the past.
-
I concur Imperator Viktor Napoleon! Once you build it up a bit the colour difference should be less noticable - from certain angles that is! But it doesn't look that bad but if you know what you're looking for it is noticeable.
-
I see what you mean Imperator Viktor Napoleon - it seems like its a bit too high. But does it look so bad from an aerial view?
-
Yes, that's what I was thinking however I shall wait for Col. Whipstick to view the other thread and get his opinion just in case he's got a clever way of this thread in another direction. But it not MEEEEEEERGE time!
