Actually I think its reached the point where discussion the management if this thread has taken over so there's no point focusing on one of the ships. However, individual posts can be moved to other threads, so here's a challenge: Move Norrington's, Asuka's and Phred's posts in to separate threads of their own, then merge the rest of the posts in this thread with Oo7's "Bored of Brickshelf" thread. Can you manage it?

Yes, you're right about the shakos as they didn't come into use until the 1800's, so it an anachronism of The LEGO Group's behalf.
-
Nice contributions Mr H22chen although I'll have to be annoying and point out the uniforms in images you've linked and the Napoleonic Wars are circa 1800. Meanwhile the uniforms for the soldiers in the Pirate theme are supposedly circa 1600-1700 so much could have changed in those 100 years. But since I'm not a historian I can't really validate that statement. On a related note I've been watching scenes from the Hornblower movies and the the soldiers in those movies are definitely British and definitely wearing blue uniforms which the blue coat mini-figures resemble. I'll have to take some stills when I get round to it.

Green imperial troops? I gotta see this!
-
What a vibrant and colourful port you've created Mr Willems! Do you still have Amsterdam build or has it long since been disassembled?
-
Or just modify the first post in this thread to focus on one ship, otherwise it would be too confusing like you said. But something needs to be done because this thread is more about discussing what should be done with it rather than an actual discussion about anything.
-
That sounds good Captain Monkey! What are you up to these days? You don't seem to log in much at the moment.
-
Are you going to modify them so they can recoil? Or you satisfied with them how are they are?
-
I've been seeing this imitation brands appearing on eBay listings every day yet the first post of this thread hasn't seem to of grown... At all...
-
Well thats the idea, otherwise what do you think lamination is for - those who just want plastic around their pictures? X-D
-
That lad failed to do his duty, Not strange, more like Mister Phes didn't disable his Moderator status for those forums. That should be fixed now.

This could be quite exciting - get your requested in Vader folks! However, back to the MOC in question: are you using a custom design for the mini-figure's eyes or is that a head from a set?
-
Or you could build a fort or island or something depending upon what you have. Would you ever consider doing anymore pirate custom mini-figures? Perhaps something entirely of your own design?
-
Actually I had no idea that pirates hold a very special place in your heart. You never posted in the Pirate forum so all I could assume was they didn't interest you that much. Do you still have the sets you collected as a teenager?
-
Be careful Vader or you may be consumed by the Pirate side! Anyway... I would say this is the best Davey Jones custom mini-figure I've seen to date, so it's something the other custom-Pirate-mini-figure-creators can aspire to, not that what they've made is bad. The only thing about the above Davey Jones is the colours are a bit bright, as Mr Tiber has already mentioned. Here's a Davey Jones figure for reference.

Does any else have pictures of their troops to share?
-
Bonaparte has already volunteered, Capn Kirk 911. Besides we wouldn't force any user undergo a project like this because its something that a user has to want to do. Having mentioned that, users who do more than is expected of them will not be forgotten.
-
Ah yes. I remember getting some rubber bands in one of the Time Cruiser sets except they were pink. How well do your triple guns rotate Mr Phred? Smoothly or is there friction?
-
Excellent! I probably should put instructions on how to do that in the Batch Image Resize tutorial or some place convenient.
-
It seems Mister Phes has been into the rum again! I thought ZCerberus was volunteering too but I must have misread his post. Carry on lads...
-
How water tight were they? Yes, this is a good point however its already been done in LEGO ships several times. Its not intended to be a criticism though, more of a curiosity into how these things work... Apparently the Black Pearl has this capability as well which you would notice if you to look at the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
-
I'll let you lads work it out amongst yourselves...
-
It seems we have two volunteers! Is there any way that you two could work on this project together?
-
To become a Moderator a user must demonstrate above average dedication to the forum (indefinitely) without overstepping the line. The decision is made by all the Eurobricks Administrators so being "close" to Mister Phes isn't really an advantage. It also helps if you participate in other Eurobricks forums because that impresses the other Administrators.

A gross simplicity of lamination is slipping the poster between two sheets of special plastic then they're melted together so the poster is encased entirely within plastic.
