The French frigate L'Orient: Work in progress
Mister Phes replied to Bonaparte's topic in Pirate MOCs
Not that I recall, but I didn't realise you were aiming for historic accuracy when I initially asked if you were going to put insignia/emblems on your sails. But as for flags... Which flags would you use for a ship like this? -

When you say "this kind of ship" exactly what do you mean by that? -
UPCOMING MOVIE: Pirates of The Great Salt Lake
Mister Phes replied to Capn Frank's topic in LEGO Pirates
That depends on how successful it is in the US, but it doesn't matter because eBay will have it in stock. -
An Imperial Armada MOC - there should be more!
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
Well there's a WIP thread just waiting to happen! Actually I was thinking more along the lines of a fort than a ship. Anyway... As for the MOC in question... I'm not sure that I like it all that much from the above angle because it looks too discombobulated. That's right - "discombobulated" -

That was quick Mr Tiber! You're very efficient, you should be commended or something. Now where have I put the gold stars :-D Since we haven't had an Imperial Armada MOC for a while now seemed like a good time to share it with everyone else. Its been sitting in storage for months so I thought I'd bring it out so we could all discuss it. Does it inspire you to build an Imperial Armada MOC, Mr Tiber? -

You could encourage him to register if he hasn't already done so! EDIT This is an old thread I've just brought out of storage. Some Moderator will have to do something about that oversized image in the first post! X-D -
PICTORIAL REVIEW: 6274 Caribbean Clipper
Mister Phes replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Pirates
Because pictures of the set were taken last week and I made CG backgrounds for two of them a couple of days ago... This set is going to surprise everyone... ;-) -
PICTORIAL REVIEW: 6274 Caribbean Clipper
Mister Phes replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Pirates
Ok lads! Any last comments for the Caribbean Clipper before this Pictorial Review is archived? The next review is coming you see! -
I second that "Ballista look great"! I'm wondering how it would look on its own on land...

TUTORIAL: Performing a Batch Image Resize
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in Forum Information and Help
If you have any comments and feedback for these tutorials then post them in the Tutorials Discussion thread. -
Don't get too excited Mr Phred because Mr Paladin may not have been 13 when he began to build the USS Potempkin, that just might have been the age he thought it would make a good name for a ship. So lets see what he says... If he ever comes back!

If you like create a "Work In Progress" thread for this project. You could start by taking some pictures of what you've got so far, then keep adding more pictures as you gradually expand your harbour.

The French frigate L'Orient: Work in progress
Mister Phes replied to Bonaparte's topic in Pirate MOCs
Maybe with the sails you could start on paper till you get a design you like and then complete the finish design on canvas. Are you going to invent your own insignia/emblems for the sails, or will they just be plain or generic? -
UPCOMING MOVIE: Pirates of The Great Salt Lake
Mister Phes replied to Capn Frank's topic in LEGO Pirates
Yes, that's a good point Mr Norrington, I suppose it depends on who the distributor is and how the film performs in the US. Napoleon Dynamite got an international cinematic release didn't it? And this film is apparently made by the same lot so maybe their distributor will have enough faith to release it internationally. If not there's always the DVD release. -
The French frigate L'Orient: Work in progress
Mister Phes replied to Bonaparte's topic in Pirate MOCs
Yes, I should and so should all Pirate Moderators :-D Now, back to Mr Bonaparte's MOC... The sails... What kind of sails will we be seeing? Official LEGO sails or customs? -
The news don't say nothing about no Portuguese forces being there either - I really gotta get better news coverage!
-
Excellent work Mr Tiber! And to clarify to the entire world (yes, the entire world :-D) ALL unofficial LEGO creations (I.e. those which are not designed by The LEGO Group), WIP progress threads or threads regarding "How do I build..." should go in the Pirate LEGO MOC sub-forum. So take that world! :-P

This thread's topic is a question regarding MOCing. The Making Sails Tutorial is in the Pirate LEGO MOC forum and the topic of this thread is piratically "How to make a mast" - so why should the thread about making sails go in the MOC forum but not one about making masts?

Birthday Greetings lad!

Eh, red coats? What would I want with that rabble? Long live the Imperial Armada! It looks too cheerful. From one of my eBay LEGO suppliers...

The French frigate L'Orient: Work in progress
Mister Phes replied to Bonaparte's topic in Pirate MOCs
You're absolutely correct Mr Norrington! Here's King Leo next to the Viking I confused him for. Still, I think the Viking head would work just as well should one ever become available. -
Greetings Mr Steam Engineer! I can't be of much help because I'm yet to build a MOC ship but there are some quite talent ship builders here who will be able to provide you with plenty of advice and suggestions. One thing though... This thread probably belongs in the Pirate LEGO MOCs sub-forum so it will get moved when Mr Tiber gets around to it! X-D

UPCOMING MOVIE: Pirates of The Great Salt Lake
Mister Phes replied to Capn Frank's topic in LEGO Pirates
Probably not because I won't have the time. Although this year I shall endeavour to see more movies at the cinema however the opportunity will be limited. But because of limited opportunity the movies I intend to view at cinemas must utilise the technology. I.e. they look visually stunning and thus experienced better on the big screen or they have an awesome soundtrack which makes full use of the surround sound system - otherwise I'll just wait for it to be released on DVD. Pirates of The Great Salt Lake doesn't seem to meet those criteria but I might make an exception. I just might... I'll see how things go. -
This is great! I needed a deity link for that time of day!

You could combine the two and call it a catalista!
