We don't always have the luxury of better pictures so we better make do with what we have. Is it possible to get a close-up picture of the flag?
-
Maybe their server prevents forums from linking directly to it. No matter...

Oh dear! What's happened? They were working a moment ago.

I used a program called Vue which was recommended to me by Jipay. Vue is also used in the motion picture industry to create background mattes. For example some of the shots in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest were enhanced using Vue:

Hinckley asked me to provide him with the CGI background I created for the Pimp your IMTP Contest poster. So I rendered off 10 variations and never got around to uploading them... Till NOW!!! Click thumbnails for full size image All images are JPGs 800 wide x 600 high

The flags for the northern half of the New World don't seem to be as popular as the other regions... Why could this be?

Just wait 6 months till it goes on the budget shelf for a fifth of the original price...

Ahhhhhh... So you were rushing? Ever thought about using electric lighting rather than natural? If you're not reliant on what the sun is doing then you can work at any time of the day. Just so long as you have good curtains during the day time.

It was originally known to me as The Sea Lion...

It certainly is a nightmare when you're trying to make a film without the assistance of several dozen professionals. Nonetheless I'll provide some critical feedback. I thought it moved a bit fast in some areas because it needed more frames and there were still a couple of microphone bumps that could have been edited out. Also the lighting was a bit dark but this can be easily corrected in some video editing software packages by adding an "Auto Level Filter". Though you'd probably need something meatier than Windows Movie Maker. Now what did I like most about the film? I'll tell you after some sleep...

Adventure of the Pirates (Part1&2):My 1st Lego Movie

Excellent work Mr Tiber! The first post looks like it has some beefy content now. *y* -
What is the difference between British and English etc?

What strange nuances you have Col. Whipstick :-D -

Yes indeed I think we are moving away from what started as a very educational thread. If one does not care about the "subtler nuances of the British political landscape*" then that's fine, but this thread is to educate those who wish to be more informed. * I like how that's phrased X-D -
EB Pirates! - Episode 1, Green Hair and the Yellow Thief
Mister Phes replied to El Bucanero's topic in Pirate MOCs
Have you lads seen Piranha's The Great Troll Debate: Comic! - if not I recommend you check it out. The reason I'm bringing it to your attention is because he's used a program called Comic Book Creator to create the speech bubbles. I haven't used it myself but the result seems quite pleasing but personally I'd rather use Photoshop or Illustrator because the skills can be applied to a broader range of tasks. Obviously you need a certain skills level to create similar speech bubbles using Photoshop or Illustrator but it takes time to learn. Nonetheless I recommend you find some method of using anti-alias the text and speech bubbles (I.e. smooth out the jagged edges) in your next comic. You've done a lot of great work with the MOCing and story so slicker graphics would really set everything off! *y* -
The only thing I don't like about the text is the spacing between the lines as they look a little too close together. I think the legibility of the text could be improved by putting some extra space between the lines. It's only a small nitpick mind you but nonetheless I'd recommend it be taken into consideration for future comics. Mr Piranha, do you know if Comic Book Creator allows users to adjust the spacing between the lines of text?

Adventure of the Pirates (Part1&2):My 1st Lego Movie

If you're using a high exposure in dim lighting then you'll definitely need a tripod otherwise you'll never be able to focus. Then you can take pictures like this... -

Tripods also work very well X-D Although they do cost money. A large sheet of blue paper is definitely your friend. Inexpensive and not that difficult to find. But if you should happen to have a little more money to spend then you could try a blue sheet or towel which you can ruffle to simulate various water effects. Now, I think this thread would really benefit from a "poster image" in it's first post. Phred... Tiber... There's work for you to do... >:-) -
My Rant against spammy reviewers on brickset.
Mister Phes replied to Lt. Veers's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I agree that reviews like that are very unhelpful and makes the reviewer come across as a dimwit. If enough people brought this issue to Brickset's attention they may amend their review system to force reviewers to write higher quality of reviews. I once complained to Amazon.com that many of the reviews for a particular product were completely unhelpful. They actually told me my input was very helpful and the deleted the useless reviews. However this was only a one off event as I checked the product reviews a couple of months later and there new unhelpful reviews. So it may require some persistence to ensure permanent action is taken. -
The first thing that strikes me about this comic is the nice smooth speech bubbles and text. They look really good! *y* Which program was used to create these?
-
Would you like to borrow my Canon EOS 400? >:-)
-
The graphics look rather super awesome! Too bad I wouldn't have time to play it in its entirety.
-
Did you let the designers of the Black Pearl know this? X-D Do you lads think it's worth merging this thread with the Sails Library thread?
-
Thank you for the link Mr MicVash but this is a very popular film so we've already got a thread about it. I'll merge this thread with the current one in a couple of days and that will bump it to the top of the forum to bring it to the attention of all our newer members.

EB Pirates! - Episode 1, Green Hair and the Yellow Thief
Mister Phes replied to El Bucanero's topic in Pirate MOCs
Isn't what they've done here technically called "product placement" whereby they advertise a product by including in the story, whether it be prominent or incident. In this instance it's obviously very prominent. -
Excellent work Mr Axle! You have done well
