  1. I think Nintendo and Lego would be a sure hit. It fits the age group exactly and would sell. :-D As far as licenses go didn't TLG say they would limit or lessen those products? I never read anything that said elimination of the licenses. I think if TLG persued a LOTR book license that would not cost very much at all. I really like the movie but I think it could have been better written. Too much great material was left out. If Lego did LOTR I would buy multiples of ever set. I could find of at least 200+ afols who would do the same. Besdies this thread is about what we want, not what Lego will do (but hopefully they will anyways). I don't think the violence issue would be a factor. More people die in Star Wars than in LOTR. *twisted* I never really got into manga. I used to watch the original dragon ball when I was younger but even that got pretty lame after a while. :^^D I wish Lego could make a heroes of the world type theme. Famous inventors, politicians, kings, or anyone else worth looking up to. It would be nice to help children have real heroes instead of all these fake comic characters or athletes. The best thing Lego could do though is to make an online store like bricklink where only lego can sell and they would have parts in colors no one else would, have fair prices for minifigs and the current bricklink prices would be forced to drop or loss money. I know some sellers wouldn't like this at all but everyone else looking for parts at a good price would think it is great. Not only that but the money will directly benefit Lego instead of the middle man or some ebay (buy all the clearance, turn around and sell it for 2, 3 or 4xwhat they paid for it) seller. Yeah, they could call it Lego Direct Surplus.*wub*
  2. These look great! Are the heads/ arms removable? How much are they?
  3. Not to mention it would come fill a royal guard or possibly a royal guard pilot :oD I will sign up for one of those. Perhaps in the new extreme ultimate tie collection* we can get one. -suvieD *this does not exist. This should not exist. This is a weak attempt at a joke pertaining to the inside running joke here at Eurobricks. I have just explained it. It isn't funny anymore.
  4. Since I am finishing up my sort project I thought I would ask everyone, what do you do with the parts that don't have a home? Meaning what do you do with the odd parts that nobody ever has more than one or two of? I usually bag my bulk parts and store them in a rolling wrapping paper box. I have a few hundered odd parts that don't really belong anywhere else and I was wondering what everyone else does with them.
  5. I was not able to take picture of my items last night. :'( I decided on the 7th to completely resort all my Lego. *wacko* :P *sing* *devil* I am not quite done yet. I was able to get the majority of it done last week and I finished my plain bricks and plates last night. I have most of my parts sorted out but I still have a few dozen bags that have no home in my containers. I will be dedicating tonight to getting pictures taken though so I can enter the Mecha contest :-D and also get some pictures of stuff for trade. I will check these boards tonight before I take pictures so if anyone has a request for something please let me know asap. :) It is 11:10am where I am right now so, at around 3:30 or 4pm where I get home I will check for requests and take pictures. I will post the pictures tomorrow. To be fair as far as trading I will trade for the average price on bricklink for parts. If someone wants to make a special deal I am willing to do so also. I would prefer to trade minifig for minifig unless of course either side has no figs of interest. Parts that I would like to trade for are: Minifigures of course. Pretty much any castle figure from any year but forestmen (if they have the proper hat), wolfpack and ninja are my favorite. axe door stockade door round door with keyhole gate book in any pattern or color barrel crate or any other caslte weapon, shield, I really like square flags or odd colored wavy ones. I would like some more turquoise parts (like what came in the Rock Raiders sets) in any shape or size. Thank you everyone who is interested. I don't really like selling my parts off when I can trade for other parts I want to people who would like to get them. As this is not a sale anyone who wants to trade from overseas will have any packages marked as a gift for customs. I am excited, I have little use for my non-castle figures, so getting parts or figs for stuff I don't want is very nice. ;)
  6. Is it possible to keep my post as a seperate thread. I know it is related but I don't think it is the same. I think it will be lost now that it has been changed. I was hoping people would express there own ideas about what they would like to see LEGO make. This went off-topic so fast I am not sure it has any other ideas added. Perhaps, people have already listed what they would like to see some where else but I didn't see it in the other thread either. Anyway, I would like to also see a bulk tub (or box to save on costs) of mostly bricks for each theme. Castle could be mostly gray with some accessories and 5-10 minifigs. Pirate (since there is no boat) could be yellow green with a palm tree, monkey, treasure chest, and a scurvy crew. Each tub could have a rare minifig only available in the tub. It would also be a great way to reintroduce classic space.
  7. I am quite ninja like. 54% ninja only 34% pirate. That makes sense as I am very quiet and often frighten people by walking up to them when they are not aware of it. Though I am a bit more framed as a pirate with both eyes hands and legs though ;)
  8. Sure I have some star wars stuff. :-D I will take pictures of all the stuff I have to trade. I don't have much of any one theme except Castle and some specific parts for Mecha/spaceships. I will take pictures today and post them tomorrow when I get some time. If anyone else has any requests I will check back later. ;)
  9. Have actually seen some of the Megablok or BTR versions. Not to be mean to anyone who has some but they suck! *sick* I want a real Lego version with quality pieces and compatibility. Transformers was low on my list of wants anyways, I would much rather have something castley :-D ;)
  10. I posted some thoughts on Lugnet and I thought I would share them here as well to see what things people would like to see. Please note that these should be Lego building sets not other products like t-shirts or games. ;) So many people have said that Star Wars Lego brought them out of their "dark age." People who liked Lego as a child and enjoy SW, it was the common ground on both that got (older) people back into Lego. If I was in charge of Lego I would go back and look at what was/is the most popular cultural tie-ins and produce a series' of them. If you did this in 1960-1970 you may have done something like the lone ranger. Today what do 20-30 somethings who used to play with Lego remember fondly that might bring them into the hobby as adults? These are not fads that died out. These are cultural staples that have endured time and critisim. Some ideas that come to mind: GI Joe-what young boy didn't have GI Joe, just look at brickshelf and do a search to see all the different custom figures or even the fan made Joe/Lego site Transformers-many a young boy played with transforming vehicles into robots. This may be another Hasbro option to look into. Nintendo-the system that made electronic gaming a household name. A Mario series of sets with King Koopa, Luigi, Peach, Toad and all their other friends this could do extremely well. I doubt there is a 10-30 year old who doesn't know about Mario. The Lengend of Zelda, I think would sell better than Harry Potter. With the new game coming late this year Lego would do well to at least check into the possibilties. Lord of the Rings- I know that this may be a day late or a dollar short but it may be the best time for it. Character recognition is now at an all time high. Even without the movies I think this would have done well. Head over to brickshelf and check out the most popular folder. It is LOTR. It has almost half a million views for adults. Most children do not spend much time on brickshelf, these are adult Lego fans who have an interest in this. Imagine what type of sales you would have if you made this. I would suggest getting a liscence to make sets from the books directly and not from the movies. You would have more liberty in the sets and I am guessing it would cost less. Narnia-the first of seven new movies that will come out soon. Get on board now. Children for years have been reading these books and have enjoyed the many interesting stories and lands. This would be great. Disney- Lego and Disney partnership seems inevitable. Classic movies like Snow White or Bambi all the way up to greats like Aladdin or the Lion King. This could do very well also. Disney isn't a small name it has instant recognition and for many adult, boys and even girls, Lego contruction sets with the loveable and collectable Disney characters would be a sure success. Barbie/Bratz-teaming up with Barbie or Bratz could be the very thing that might help Lego finally reach girls. I am not sure if Barbie would ever want to be associated with Lego but I can only see it building off of each others name recognition. These are ideas as far as liscencing goes. I do not think Lego should set aside it traditional sets or series nor should they fully persue more than one or two of these at any time. One thing I would also like to mention is that Lego is not involved in any type of roleplay using it's minifigs as customizable units. Games like these are a popular item for teen and adult hobbiests. This could open up a new market it the field that could compete with hero clix or warhammer and for less moreny. One figure for those others can cost up to ten dollars. Lego would not even need new molds. It could produce small figure sets with almost limitless configurations that people would be more willing to buy because of the lower price point. Not only that but many of the people who want larger armies of figures would also be satisfied. The point being is that this is an untapped money maker for a company looking to broaden it's appeal to different ages, satisfy current customers, introduce new customers who are into gaming/ collectables, and wouold allow TLG to make strong revenues. Please if you decide to discard all my other ideas look into this one. This is seriously the best idea I have seen for getting 12-25 year old people to maintain a buying relationship with Lego that is only enhanced by the 2-10 years of previous sets they may have gotten. Look into this. Also, some others I posted. A small model series. $20 price range. Start with popular sports car models. Small compact designs with any of the following; opening doors, hoods, trunks, wheels that turn, flip up lights, or convertible (if possible at that size). Make them nearly studless, and 8X16 studs in size. Then maybe add other vehicles, planes, boats, or other desktop model sized sets. (this is for, car lovers, model lovers, LEGO lovers) Fairy tale sets for 6-12 year olds with the story included. Jack and the Beanstalk, Puss in Boots, Rapunzel, Little Red Ridinghood. Standard minfigs, repeated use of the same parts to keep costs down. Use the same one or two parts for things like the beanstalk (triple leafed plant stem), or Rapunzels tower the 1X3 brick/1X1 brick round combination. (nostalgia for parents, introduce the classics to younger generations, extras for the AFOLs) A new product for girls similar to Belville or Paradisa. The girl market is still available. I know many girls who enjoy building or used to play with LEGO as children. They want romantic things like a princesses and a knight to save them from the witch/baron/ogre. Things to include would be flowers and accessories. Maybe add a few extra pieces so each girl can change her appearance. A few different color hair parts, a different outfit, a hat, or an extra head with a differnt print would achieve this nicely. make them affordable. The current prices for Belville are quite high. Try and to younger girls still in the baby doll and dollhouse age 6-10. A fantasy/mythology series. Brick built dragons, ogres and other beasts. Medusa, a faun or satyr, a centaur all as minifigs. Follow the adventures of Hercules as he battles the monsters and saves the world type of stuff. ***Ultimate*** Camelot. You would have the knights of the round table with the siege perilous. A church yard where Arthur becomes king. The Lady of the Lake. The fight with Mordred. A great tournament with ladies in the stands. The block of floating marble. We would need all the unforgetable characters of Arthur, Lancelot, Bors, Merlin, Mordred, Guenivere, Gawain, Percival, Gareth, Galahad, Bedivere, Kay, Tristan, The Lady of the Lake, The Green Knight, and Morgan Le Fay. Though the stories and legends are full or adult themed content they could be simplified or the stories they used for children in school could be used. This is where LEGO castle should go. So don't be shy. Lets get some discussion going and have everyone post what they would like to see. |-D ;) -SuvieD
  11. I took the survey and it really wouldn't make much sense to take it twice. It was all about what you buy and for how much. The opinion questions Jake posted I thought were much better as far as wanting to know what AFOLs want. I would estimate the number of AFOLs at about 3500. That is actively buying sets/parts for themselves, collecting sets or building sets/MOCs. It is really hard to know for sure, as so many people belong to more than one forum or adult based fansite. The number of adults that frequently or continue to buy their children Lego based on the fact that they enjoy the Lego brand is in the millions though. Some adults are mature enough to have fun and play anymore. ;)
  12. This goes out to Phes mostly because he is the moft fanatical pirate fan I have known. :-D But it could apply to everyone else also if they were interested. See when I was younger I collected Lego regardless of theme and for some time enjoyed the pirate line greatly. However, I decided that collecting multiple themes would be too costly for me so I choose to stick with castle. :D As such, I have some pirate items that I would like to trade for some castle items. Mostly figures, weapons, flags, canons, boat hulls and boat parts. My digital camera is in the shop getting the flash fixed :'( but I expect it this weekend hopefully. I will take pictures and post them so people interested in trading can see what they want. Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone was interested. I will check this forum on Sunday when I have some time and post what I am looking for in trade.
  13. This looks great. I like the mix of both new and old dark gray. The model definitely looks like a police craft. I like the black windows. *twisted* The engines aren't too small though. This would most likely be a planetary ship and not a space ship. Large engines would only be needed for space travel. Smaller engines suit an atmospheric vehicle nicely. I tend to over do my engines on the big side even for planetary ships sometimes, so it is nice to see smaller nice looking thrusters.
  14. 63% not bad for a land lover! :-D Excellent test. Suvied
  15. All things in moderation my friends, all things in moderation. ;) SuvieD
  16. I don't own either because LEGO takes most of my free/hobby time and money. I voted DS though. I am a die hard Nintendo fan for many reasons but mostly because of the games. I am a casual gamer not a hardcore gamer (or a wannabe hardcore like most people pretend to be). ;) Games for Nintendo have always been about having fun playing a game |-D , not intensely immersing yourself in a surreal world of a game in which you spend hour upon hour of hack/slash, shoot um' up, roleplay or any other such thing. :o PSP has excellent graphics +, good games (in some peoples opinion) +, and has all sorts of other media extras +. It costs $250 dollars -, has a low battery life -, is not pocket sized -, and needs a protective case to prevent it from getting scrathed-. |-/ DS has good graphics +, good games (in some people opinion) +, and has no media extras (good if you don't want them bad if you do) +/-. It costs $150 +, has a long battery life +, is pocket sized (which a "portable" should be) + and needs no protctive case +. :) To me DS is a portable gaming system and if I was to get a gaming system, this would be the one. PSP is a portable media system and if I was to get a media system, I would get a new iPod. ;) |-D Does anyone remember great games for the SNES like Warios Woods, Zombies Ate my Neighbors, or Super Mario RPG? Those games were awesome. If they ever ported those to a new system I would certainly buy it. The good old days when games were about games not life like graphics and wireless internet play. You know, when you had friends* that would get together and play games. Everything is electronic now. :'( SuvieD *Real life friends, you could see and you knew their real names and hair color and what not. :oo
  17. I have been married for four years now and I really don't understand all that much about being married or women for that fact. However, I do understand my wife even though I don't always agree with her. Things she had communicated to me (verbally or through actions) about women are as follows: 1. Women want to be touched (usually not sexually) it lets them know they are loved, hugs, holding hands, and so on. 2. Women want a man who will lead them but not rule them. "Be a man" be protective and safeguarding, supportive and watchful so as to have a secure home and relationship. 3. Be a gentlemen, open doors, walk with her, help her up and so on. 4. Let her know how beautiful she is and how important she is to you. Society is hard on the female image. Everyone trying to be perfect (which doesn't exist). 5. Do not be a push over. Women do not respect a man they control. Comprimise, negotiate but do not let her walk all over you. Doing so does not make you a nice guy but a weak guy. 6. Do not let pride prevent you from saying any of the following if they truely apply; "you are/were right," "I am sorry," "this is my fault," or "I love you." These words only have value if you mean it. Just saying them does not work. You must mean it. 7. Communicate, communicate, communicate and so on! 8. Girls tingle and men do not. If you don't undestand this you will have to wait until you are married. That is all I can think of off the top of my head. I know that my wife would marry me all over again if she had a choice. We have our problems but we have a great marraige. We both have our issues but we both are willing to talk and make it work. Someone once said, "Behind every great man, there is a great woman." I have said that "A woman can drag a man to the bottom, or she will allow him to walk on water." Women need to put forth just as much effort as a man to make any relationship work. If you find a woman who isn't afraid of work hard, is good looking(in your eyes), and desires to make you happy, you can have a happy marriage. Just my two cents. SuvieD PS. can any of you ladies out there confirm any of this?
  18. :oD That is what I have been trying to say the whole time. LEGO castle is not (never has been and most likely never will be) 10-15th century accurate. It midly resemble some of the time period but really doesn't come close. Not in color, design, shape, or anything else is it close. LEGO is all about fantasy and imagination. Per the SW story those characters look fine. Per the KK2 story the knights look fine. It just depends on whether you like the story or not. I myself think a story about an evil puppet overlord taking over the kingdom only to have four brave knights use teamwork to gain a powerful relic and use it to defeat said overlord happens to be a great story. And why is a bright red guard not silly. Because George decided it wasn't. What about a gold plated robot (that any space pirate would have captured as booty) isn't silly. Gold is far too soft to be durable or realistic for use in armor or plating. Even Vader himself with his black bucket on his head (don't get me wrong Vader is my favorite bad guy of all time) looks silly. I suppose Zam's purple spandex isn't silly either. *wacko* ;) If I made a non-SW theme and had characters in all 19 or more colors below you would think is MEGABLOCKS as well I am sure. *twisted* ;) SW is only not silly because it was around before it was transformed into the block. You obviously like SW as you should because it is great. Why not like KK2 also. It has many merits even though the knights coming in many bold colors. But hey what do I know. I only have a few thousand dollars tied up in a few tens of thousands of pieces that I use to build with regularly. I really can't recall the last time someone didn't like what I built. :P So with this all said, I challange anyone to a building contest. :-D :^D Name the conditions. I only ask that you give me two full weeks to build as I only have a few free nights each week. -SuvieD, Challanger of the Masses
  19. Not silly? :o :oD Well I thought I would share a little picture with you. Taste the rainbow! |-D Don't tell me that four different colors and black look dumb. If you like the variety in SW then you almost have to like some variety in KK2. See I told you all, silly!! |-D -Dan
  20. Those are exactly what I use. They sell them at Target and Walmart. You may want to try Storage Direct. They look like they have some nice stuff. A little pricey but I am sure they would have something you could use Storage Direct Catalogue Sort away! SuvieD
  21. Well Bloody Jay, this sounds like a stalemate. If we want this settled then I think we should have a contest. Traditionally, rock-paper-scissors would be in order but this is hard to do in a forum. So I challange you to a build off! :oo :bum bum bum: Put your brick where your mouth is! Ha ;) We will need a referee type official to lay down some fair rules. Then we can build and let the Eurobricks community decide which looks silly and which doesn't. I think we should limit the size and building time. You can build in either Star wars or pre-KK2 and I will build in KK2. Do you accept my challange? :o Is there an official man (or woman) enough to handle the rules? :o Will this post get me excessively flamed and booted for Eurobricks? |-D Who rocks the house, KK2 rocks the house!!!! :^D -Dan
  22. Well, I have numerous LEGOLAND castle sets and they are rather boring. :/ The only really interestings sets were the forestmen and wolfpack. :oD The rest were . . . well, just okay. I have a royal knights castle. It came with lots of figures and accessories. In my opinion that is the only thing lacking in the KK2 sets, squires, pages and generic foot soldiers belonging to each of the knights. If they had include those wow! :oD I agree that while the year one KK2 ended up being 0.12 a piece, it is still reasonable. Dragon Masters* was almost 0.15 a piece and you ended up with less minifigs if you bought 1 of every set in each theme. With inflation and increased market costs, you would think a theme sold in 2005 (per piece) would be much more than one made in 1993. In 2000 the original KK was released at over 0.16 cents per piece. *wacko* As far as king Arthur goes the knights in KK2 are less colorful than those in legend. In the tale of Gawain and the green knight, the knight not only has green armor and a helmet but his skin is greenish and so is his beard. *sick* We are talking green! Mordred wore armor that was entirely black much like what Vladek wears. :^D I know there is another knight that wear all red armor. Though I do not remember his name. For me the bottom line is that while every** castle series has it's short comings KK2 really has some great personality. The sets can be lack luster in areas but I never keep sets built anyway. The color of the armor is great in my opinion. I really like having my elite guards all dressed in red armor. No one says how silly the orange rebel pilots look, or how the royal guards look unrealistic in red. It is fantasy. :X: Besides if all your knights wear gray or dark gray with a different color plume stuck in the top wouldn't that be boring? I have some pictures of a battle scene I recently did for CC. Check it out. Battle You can see some of the uses I have for my green knights. *twisted* Dan *comparisson (I chose DM because some of the earlier themes intermingled too much to determine what belonged where) **with the possible exception of the entire forestman theme
  23. I come in defense of KK2 and any other castle LEGO if need be. KK2 year 1 sold very well. Year two will sell even better I think. LEGO knew what they were doing with this series. :) As far as all you (star wars loving) castle haters out there ;) I am here to say, and I quote myself, "shame on you!" :oo LEGO has never been about realism or historical accuracy. They only mimic real concepts and transform them into wonderful, nearly indestructible childrens toys. No LEGO castle has ever been realistic. No bathrooms, beds, fireplaces, hallways, cookerys, servants, or any other such thing you would find in a real castle is to be found. They never even had stairs or ladders in most of them. |-D That is the beauty of it all. Imagination, play, explode and rebuild what else do you need? I know some people on this forum are from England and France too. The thought of the red, green and black armored knights should make you happy. Almost every Arthurian legend has those characters in it. The blue and purple knights might be a little out there but certainly not the others. Honestly, I was hoping they would have made more colors for year two. Imagine a classic yellow, white, blue knight or something newer and bold like dark red, dark blue, teal, orange or pink. *sick* Well no, not pink. Each one from a different land with a different heraldic symbol. Each one could make up a knight of Camelot. Add merlin in and away you go. :oD Well one can dream of a dozen different colored knights sitting round the giants ring with flagens and turkey legs in hand. *wub* Long live Camelot, long live king Arthur, long live those funny little LEGO figures that have romantic and silly looking armor on, long live LEGO castle! :P
  24. Best deals huh? :-D Well I have found sets (in the US) over 50% off at Kmart, Target, Walmart (though rarely) >:( , Kohl's*, Cub Foods, Walgreens, Shopko, KBToys, and TRU. Some are more hit and miss than others. Shopko and TRU are faithful with BOGO 50% off *satis* . KB always has a few older sets at least 40% off but the others vary. The transition of sets usually brings the older set prices down the most. I am not sure of stores in other countries though. I do know that I will be extremely interested in trading for items that never make it to the US. Small grocery store viking sets if there are any, things like that. *wub* Dan *my best hauls ever were from Kohls. I got 65118 Secret Mission Collector's Pack with Alpha Team ATV, Alpha Team Helicopter, and Ogel Command Striker a $35 value for $9 :oD . I think I ended up getting 8 or nine of them (though I should have bought them all) *devil* . I also got 4048 Mech Lab with Mini Robots and Robobots a $30 value for $10 *satis* . I bought 21 of these. I decide to buy these instead of an ISD. I got the better deal I think ;) . 11403 pieces for about $230 after tax :oo . Unfortunately this last Christmas the shelves were LEGOless. :'( *sing*
  25. I have 3346 4805 3052. Though I kick myself (not really) every time I think about ninja sets. I could have had multiple copies of all the sets and for 70% off. *devil* I was only just getting back into LEGO. I never really had a "dark age" but I stopped buying sets for a while. What is worse is that I had the money. At the time I didn't think they were "castley" enough. :'( I did find someone to trade stormies for ninjas though. So now I have total around 100 ninjas in black, gray, red and green. I mostly have black and gray and someday I hope to get some white ones. *wub* I refuse to pay $10+ dollars for one though. Ninja=awesome. :D Bring back ninja, long live LEGO ninja, ninja is supreme!!! (except castle is better) ;)
