Welcome to EB. Have some fun on the boards!

Zero studs as in studless building? Sorry not for me. LEGO is all about the studs. I *wub* LEGO MOCs with studs!

My mind has been tricked! Nice illusion.

That is some of the hardest voting for a contest I have ever done. I was never much into town but these are great. There is so much variety and so many interesting details in each that it is hard to decide. I ended up going with Salvo though as if I had to pick one to take home with me it would be this. Others had more peices or a better retro feel but this had the color, detail and style that most appealed to me. Though the yellow castle in Bricksters city sure is tempting but so are those tasty skyscrappers.

I like this. Not sure it needs guns unless it is a fighting vessel of some kind. It looks small fast and enjoyable to ride. I would probably add a wind/bug shield of some kind though. I kind of reminds me a riding lawn mower or a go kart more than a motorcycle.

Akro Mills has some nice stuff for a lower price. Walmart used to carry them but I don't know for sure any more as I avoid Walmart if I can. Target and Shopko also have them but they are more expensive than what Walmart had them at. This is what I use and I like them. Check my BS link in my sig to see them. They are in the MISC folder. If you have a Kmart you can look at getting some clear tackle containers in the sporting goods section. They are made by plano and are great quality. Kmart usually has them on sale for about 30% off and they are a good size for the money. If you are hard up for some money you could also check craft stores like Michaels. They have bead or similar boxes on sale a few times a year for $1 a piece.

Too high. Aim for $0.10 per piece or less if possible. That is the "average" price in brand new in the box LEGO parts. Obviously, rare, older or unique parts will cost more but many others should cost less. You listed less then 10% of the pieces as being more expensive. You will be better off if you create a wanted list on BL and list the parts you want/need at the maximum price you are willing to pay for them and then just check that by store. You will find the store that best meets your needs more quickly and save a lot of money. Just be careful you don't end up buying a bunch of stuff you will never use. If you really want a fair price you should look to people like Ed. He doesn't post here much anymore but he has traded and sold with many people here and I have never heard of him giving someone a bad price or trade. Just PM him and I am sure he will get back to you. Always try to get something at a price you yourself could sell it for the following week if you had to. That way you will not be permanently out of your money if emergency or by chance some sort of dark age comes on you.

Maybe instead of tags we could get little banners put up on Brickshelf for us to include in our signatures. Having them on BS not only makes them available to EB but to the LEGO community on the whole. A small note about giving credit where due would be needed of course. That way it is the member who decides what they show and it does not burden the admins. This would also allow for custom banners. Maybe the more art inclined like Apo could make some for us. I am thinking something like these. These could be made with numerous styles or colors. You can see that they don't take up much room and could be a stand alone signature, be used with other parts of a signature or be turned into links so people can instantly be transfered to the page of your interest or a brickshelf folder. So many possibilities with this type of setup. All it would take is some artwork up front which would be required anyway.

Woah! Never even considered all that. I just thought because they had the rights to produces stand alone figures it could work weel for those interested. Truth is I haven't purchased a new toy other than LEGO for a few years now. I picked up some of the newer GIJoe figures and a couple minimates a few years back and that is the last of my toy purchases. I never got back into the Star Wars figures after Kenner quit making them. If not Hasbro then which company is big enough to consider buying them? Hasbro owns half of the toy world practically.

They had losses from 1998-2004 I thought. Only about 4 million in losses the first year (I think) but much more than that at times. I am not sure how much they had in reserve before the losses started or how much of the profit from this year was used to cancel out debt. I am guessing they are close to debt free. This year should also be a profitable one so that will help. I don't think LEGO will get sold but it is possible. It is obvious that the family no longer wants primary responsibility though, which could be reason to expect a sale or at least a turnover to another private party.

I really like the custom paint jobs that look like the classics in color. Nothing beats the classics. My favorite is probably spider megatron. Have you ever considered building these in LEGO form or perhaps painting the figures to match the bot forms?
-
Seriously? They couldn't program it not to flip over? :-D Too funny! One of the reasons small ATVs are not used in battle though is that they are not stable enough for combat. Of course they all make noise but if given the choice I will opt for the tank or hummer over the dirt bike or atv. No sense in getting taken out so quickly if you ask me. I can't veiw flickr pages, which is why I hate them, so I will not see what a figure looks with it. I see that you practice with Mecha and space is helping you with your snot and small detail construction though. You are definitely becoming a better builder. What do you have coming up next?

I read this on Lugnet Jim Hughes reply and it made me think that this may infact be exactly what LEGO is looking to do. It has proven to be one of the few toy companies that can be profitable in this day and age. With a strong enough value and stock price I think this could happen in the next 5 years. Concerned? Maybe. Excited? Maybe. Selling LEGO to MB would equal disaster. Selling it to Hasbro could equal collectors dreams come true. Star Wars minifigure packs anyone? Not sure how I feel about all this though. New ownership could change the way the company works in huge ways. It could change nothing in regards to me. Interesting idea to say the least.

I would get laughed at if I showed my car. A standard (and starting to rust) 96' Toyota Corolla DX. The fanciest thing in the car is the moon roof! X-D Nice cars Yoda! And a really nice car in that Passat! Though my favorite Passat is still this one Nothing beats a classic like that! ;-)

This is definitely the most high tech batcave I have seen. I like all the little details you included and the sub and kart are very funny. It would be nicer to see everything more condensed. It takes up a lot of room and some stacking of areas or going for a more equal width and length might make this less sparce looking. A good build though. Some better lighting and camera work would help this along also. MOC on!

I like this set a lot. The only parts I really want from it thought are the <insert that tiresome argument> ones. I don't need the mechas or all the little parts. My favorite thing in this is the spider droid. That guy is awesome. I would like to have a dozen of those.
-
Man do I hate flickr! Anyway, this is small, compact and nice looking from this one picture. I would like to see it with a figure to better judge size though. It looks a little to thin in some areas mostly in the rear though. Halo 2 isn't that great and the vehicles from it aren't either in my opinion. Not really a space or mecha really but more of a military vehicle which may or may not be futuristic. Regardless, I know I would not drive around a bright green noise maker like this if I was humaities savior. It screams here I come get ready to shoot me. Maybe that is why they took it out.

but it is green?!? :-X Classic space can't be green. Actually for around $12 it isn't that bad. I will wait for more variety in parts before I try to recreate any sets or look-a-likes. The factory is really a great tool for the fans and I am glad to see it expanding. Now if only they would triple the available colors and parts. >:-)

Nice army. Hopefully you are finding a few good deals and can get them cheaper than $4 a piece. I am interested to see a battle scene with these troops in action. That would be great. Though this isn't the largest imperial army I have scene it is a big one and the custom leaders are looking great. Having remembered the all the important portions to this army makes this a better one than any large I have seen also.

Good looking ship. A little blocky perhaps but that is to be expected with this type of vessel I think. The sails a simple and effective and the inside of the ship is looking good also. The lack of rails on the main deck worry me though as sitting water would be a large concern I think. It has no way to drain off the deck which could prove to be very bad for the ship. Also the lack of any supporting pillars in the lower deck makes me wonder two things what holds up the deck above and how is the mast weight possibly supported? With some touch ups and a few small details added in this ship could go from nice to good to great even in no time. Keep up the good work. MOC on matey!

Well where to start. The good Nice variety in the landscape and building styles each faction have The colors are good and I like the use of new and old grays, very realistic looking The falcon tower looks nicer and more defensible and the arches in it really add to it The creeping foliage is great and very natural looking Figures are in some great poses/actions that make this even more "alive" The waves are a nice little touch and the whole MOC detail level is great The bad The pattern for the bridge seems out of place for me, I prefer random, preference totally though Arches instead of slopes may have been better looking for the bridge itself, again preference The whole premise of sharing the bridge is unthinkable, one faction would have so much advantage over the other simply by controlling the whole thing that it would be next to impossible for them to peacably occupy the same amount of bridge control The bridge especially the gates are not large enough for larger supply wagons or royal carraiges, maybe not much of a concern or perhaps this is meant as a pedestrian bridge with limited access for carts/animals Also, in terms of military use the same problem with size is apparent, no sizable force would be able to utilize this bridge effectively and few seige engine would ever be able to cross with or without the factions sharing control So overall you have a nice MOC. Some of the design I would have done differently and I would not let two factions share the bridge for the numerous reasons I mentioned plus some. Your details are great and the whole thing looks good. MOC on!

I am not to partial to either or any idea about ranking. Ranking on the internet means next ot nothing. If it is in the name of fun and just a little something added for the regular posters then I am all for it. If it is taken seriously or posters are being treated like second class because they don't have x-rank then I say down with the whole thing. The last thing I want to see at EB is big heads because of some rank. That is one of the reasons I like it here is that even the admins are fans first and like to have fun. If the interest is there and people understand it is for fun, I say go for it. If there are multiple ranks or forums a person "subscribes" to can we get all of them smaller. The pirate ranking bar is already somewhat large and if you had two or three of those it would be an eye soar. Perhaps it could be switched to a badge or medal system.

Toys R Us (or TRU) is one of the places that often carry that set or one like it. I heard that the UK had some recently but they are somewhat harder to find. If you live in the US Target stores have some of last years line on clearance and if you don't really care what parts you get, send me a PM. I have a box of parts I am willing to let go rather cheaply. Best of luck getting started with your collection!

I do think it is sad that they need to make this move. In one aspect it will be great to see LEGO make profit to cover any debts and to save up some for any future concerns. In another jobs are lost or moved, and it is possible like Gylman said for quality control or quality period to begin to slip. As a consumer this is good in that it may mean slightly cheaper prices or at least non rising prices in the near future. It will be interesting to see if this will effect shipping time or customer service. This is a smart move though. Toys can be a rough business and with more and more children playing video games and cell phones it is hard for toys to compete. I just hope with all this that LEGO doesn't get greedy and start cutting corners on purpose just to turn a profit. Profit is good and the number one reason to be in business but not at the cost of customers and employees. Play well LEGO!

Well, I have gotten started on my ship. She is going to be huge once she is done. I am skimping on the lower deck details for a few reasons. Firstly, I don't have any cannons to put down there. I also don't want to try have a special way to lift up the upper decking as the ship need to be playable and sturdy versus playable and detailed but fagile. Lastly, I don't want to waste parts on an area that is little more than filler for the model. Guts are not needed for this ship beacuse they will never be seen. Another good reason as the ship will not be built for very long unless I like it very much. That rarely happens with any of my MOCs so I would say scrapped for parts in 2 weeks once completed. I am enjoying the challange and I am thinking of how I will build the upper decks and what to include in the cabin. I am not sure what detail I want for the rigging yet either. Some detail but not like those accurate ship models. I am actually looking forward to making a land based pirate scene or docking area to go with this or maybe in future. So little time, so many ideas. Anyway, check out the little picture I made in paint below to see what I have done so far. The green is sand green which looks like oxidized copper and the gray is infact iron plating to protect the first of the lower decks. The rest of the ship will feature similar colors when completed and the sails will be all custom made with custom patterns. MOC on!
