  1. These are great Piglet! I love the exageratted poses you were able to get with the plates instead of using the regular legs. I haven't seen any off the games but you have captured the angry, hurt and other emotions very well. MOC on!
  2. Well sure that isn't so hard. Of course having to explain to your fellow cellmates that you are there because you stole plastic toys might make for some unpleasant experiences. :-X Followed of course by being banned from you family due to the humiliation. :'-( And don't forget about explaining the scares you got from trying to escape from the police. |-/ I seriously doubt it would be as easy as you say. Even if it were though theft, arrest, jail time and destroying any chance at having a good career all for little plastic bricks? Only an idiot would attempt such a thing.
  3. I think this is the same person who sells on bricklink. ITP His prices are close to LEGO prices. Which I think are usually high unless on sale. Not much in the way of pirates really. A few things though. Beware of his high priced minifigures though!
  4. No, it is actually rather tree less. There were a few trees but not many and certainly no so large as to provide much shade. When I went it was around 1 in the afternoon and it was extremely hot. The only cool place I found was in the PaB area, and even that was not that cool because of many many people in there. Have a nice trip and bring plenty of water if you plan on staying in the park!
  5. The true beauty of LEGO. MOC on!
  6. A fairly unique design. I know I have never seen one like it. The yellow and black give it almost a construction look. A nice little ship to be sure. Very interesting part usage. Again with the near studless design. >:-( Nice ship, but not a classic now or ever.
  7. Well this is the last stretch for this fundraiser. The prices are in almost every case the lowest on Bricklink period. I am looking to get everything sold and shipped before July if possible so I will close down shop in the last week of June. I will have some new items listed in the coming week so if you have seen anything that you wanted up until now check back in next week. The prices are all 50% or more, below BL average and the shipping is still set at $3.50. I would like to get rid of everything so help out if you can. For those who are interested. At the last Minnesota tourney, the team placed first. Even better, in the invitational in Indiana a few weeks ago they took 4th. They lost to a the same team twice, but seeing as that is a nationally top 20 team it wasn't so bad Two of the three quizzers placed on the all tournament team, meaning they had one of the five highest average points per quiz score. The next MN tournament is the district finals. After that it is the National Tournament. The team is finished with their memorization and are working hard get every detail perfect. They are quoting the verses daily until they know them word perfect and charting is also ramping up. The team is about 50% funded for this trip right now and of course if everything in the store sells they will be fully funded. Thanks to everyone who has helped out so far and a special thanks to those who are repeat supporters! If you are interested in helping out but don't want to make a purchase or can not afford to, please feel free to let someone else know about the sale. Regards, -Dan The Armor Shop
  8. $50 Hoth playset and $50 Jedi council playset Everything else would be gravy.
  9. One problem I see is that the vikings have no personal enemy. Castle has Vladek and others, Star Wars and Harry Potter both have baddies, Bionicle is based on the protection of islands by going to battle and even the town sets have robbers to add an element of "bad" guy. The monsters in the viking line are just that monsters. If LEGO introduced a group of bad guys behind the monsters or even someone to ride on the monsters I think it would appeal more to the 10 year old boys. It wouldn't need some huge story or anything, just some human enemies. They didn't make the vikings historical and they never went into the Norse mythology much so this left vikings to just be sets. Similar to the 80's, which is great for the older fans but there is a reason LEGO has not returned to the 80's style sets. They make what sells best and sad to say I don't think vikings are a big profit maker. I think viking was a great idea but it is going the way of the ninja. In five years it will be hard to find and very expensive. Sad really. I really want the new sets. I will get the smaller one for the figures and the nice seige weapon parts and the larger for the dragon parts mostly. I like the new wheels and all the horn parts in both. In general these sets are great. Even more than the sets though I would love to be able to get a hour at PaB in Billund. *sweet*
  10. That is why it was a challange and not a contest. This isn't supposed to be a who has the bigger and better collection or who can spend more time building. It isn't who has the best MOC skill either. It is about seeing what other people have done and then trying to do something yourself. This thread is about learning to build better. Learning more about ships and maybe even more about historical pirates and the era they lived in. I never intended this to be a contest of any kind. I issued the challange to Mr. Cleese as he wanted a reason to build. Having LEGO, a little spare time and some imagination is reason enough for most people. I am just trying to make it easier for people to step out and try building what they may not normally build. Or maybe even get them to look at it as a friendly competition. No deadlines, no specific rules, no prizes. Just building fun and getting better at MOCing. I have a few things to finish up before I can start on my ship. I am looking at starting this weekend hopefully. If you really want to challange me to a build off I'd suggest you start soon as well. I will be completing my ship before July ends. It is only fair to have restricted build times for such a challange. Build for fun. MOC on!
  11. It is a good scene. There are plenty of objects and street details for a good scene. The only thing lacking could be some of the figure poses. I think they could be a little more dynamic. Spiderman is after all a comic book character. The buildings are looking good. MOC on!
  12. I have never built in that scale. I am not sure what you should do. I would suggest lots of plates though. Wing plates and probably so click hinges also. Good luck matching the shape and all.
  13. It really isn't that much to spend $1000. If you smoke you will certainly spend more than that. If you drive a fancy car you will spend more that that in a few months on insurance alone. Everything cost money and LEGO is one of the best hobbies I have seen. And best of all, unlike the other things I listed, LEGO doesn't go down in value that much. In fact if you take care of it, it will actually go up in value. Which is something few cars will ever do. I still think it is wise to put something away though. Tough times come to us all and the better prepared make it through without having to sell all their LEGO X-O ;-)
  14. This isn't a contest but I will make you this offer. If you can build a ship better than I can I will give you a prize. A very nice prize. Since Phes is the pirate expert around here we will let him decide which of the ships is better. If I build the better ship all I ask is that you put a line in your signature that says "Honor is better than prizes."
  15. This one is a little harder to see details on. The black is very hard to photograph well. I like the bow & arrow especially the wyvern wings and the "laser" scope. The spikes on the shoulders and head look good. As always clever use for odd parts and masks. The only real complaint is that the upper and lower legs look to much alike in shape and size. perhaps it is on purpose but it just looks weird to me.
  16. On average around $1000-1500. Last year I had some extra money due to overtime and no major house projects so it was higher but this year it will be much less as I need to save for the uni bills. Oh and Legoman, you should consider buying less and saving more. At your age you should be thinking about saving for things like school, a car or just in general. Things like houses, computers and though it may be far off a wedding can all be expensive. If you can save $500 a year when you are 21 you will have $5000. That can be very helpful. ;-) Just make sure when you get a girlfriend you don't mention it. X-D
  17. LEGO is all about the SYSTEM. I can make what I want how I want with what features I want because everything sticks together in some way. LEGO opens the doors of imagination. LEGO is durable and can withstand being used thousands of times without fail to snap together. Things like colors may change and new shapes can replace old ones. It has done this from the beginning and I think it will until the end when children no longer play with toys and the dwindling adult market can't afford them anymore. The face of LEGO is never the same yet it always has that look. Long live LEGO, best toy company ever!
  18. I got all the needed parts from the vikings line to make some dragons finally. Since KBtoys and TRU closed near me it is hard to get any good deals. :'-( Bricklink has some decent prices at times though. I also got some great parts for really cheap for some space creations. I love getting parts at a good price.
  19. Ever wanted to try to build a pirate or imperial ship? *pirate* What about an Islanders raft or a merchant vessel? 8-
  20. In China they can sell what they want how they want. China has the worlds largest illegal market for nearly any product you can think of. It does not much apply to China in any case but MB has in past created copy cat sets to compete against LEGO. Direct copies no but copy enough to make a similar product and then sell it for less. It works too. LEGO spends a lot of money to design and sell models. They obviously don't want to pay all that money in research and development just so other companies can steal the final product for free. It is usually not much of a concern. With popular non liscensed themes like EXO force it could be though. Nobody but LEGO can make a Star Wars set without Lucas suing their pants off. Anybody could make a "human vs. robot mecha" theme though. One thing I have noticed though is that Best Lock and Mega Bloks are not able to compete very well with LEGO. Inferior products and mediocre set designs are not doing it for them regardless of price. Of course with the new Dragons forge set they have created one of the best ideas ever for a set. I hope LEGO sees it and "borrows" the idea. And to not be totally off topic, I am really liking this new set. It looks better than any of the mecha out yet. I can't wait for it.
  21. They colors on this are better than the previous. It looks very sleek and much like something you would see in a scifi movie. I still feel very sorry for the cramped pilot though. MOC on!
  22. Begin with insane amounts of red galidor and bionicle parts, Toss in some dinosaur and technic parts, Mix in some sweet design, Add a dash of knobby dark lord knee cap, And you have some sweet demonic toa destroyer! The only thing I am not sure I like are the lances poking out of the head. They are so straight that compared to Man Chus curves it just seems out of place. My favorite detail is the feet though. Very original and cool looking.
  23. The rib cage looks great. I like the creative use of the trans parts in odd places especially the jewels in the legs and the spears in the feet. My favorite detail is the curved glass used for the red eye. Nice idea with a perfect build in. A worthy addition to the titans of bionicle. I have to ask though, I see you cut the flex tubes that are on the hands to fit, is it noticable and if so do they fall off? MOC on!
  24. Europeans are very lucky. In the US we get to watch golf and basketball. :'-( American Football can be fun to watch also but I miss not being able to watch real Football.
  25. This ship looks to be the imperial ship that was stolen and stripped down to make the BSB. Pirates of course don't build ships but steal them. This is the more bulky version that was refitted to be faster by pirates. Actually, the detail in this is well beyond what LEGO includes in their models. A knowledge of ships and a spare BSB has really helped this shipped become a great MOC. MOC on!
