  1. Nice desert build, the tan/dark tan/reddish brown color palette works so great for Kaliphlin builds both great and small Reading the text to the pictures on flickr it looks like Schmidt is a cunning fella! I wouldn't be surprised if he has dealings with Emad al-Haboob in Barqa.
  2. Nice to see all your MOCs over here, keep 'em coming! In this one I think I like the tree and the roof design the most, plus the minifig posing
  3. Great build once again, nice to see more activity in the east and for us in the rest of Historica to get a glimpse of the Eastern Darklands :)
  4. I miss the option "Yes, I plan to continue to actively participate in GoH. I just need a break." to say that I will have some downtime in my building for a few months ;)
  5. Excellent build with so many details to discover! The pillars with "eyes" are great
  6. Good point, I've actually wondered myself how LotR is "history"...but then again I suppose it is as much "history" as the fictive land of Historica I also think the number of MOCs and comments in the forum makes it hard to keep up...and more often than not I find myself disappointed by promising titles only to see cellphone quality pictures of some minifigs. Don't get me wrong, I think it is excellent that even young builders and/or builders with small collections can post and get feedback and improve...it's just hard for me to feel enthusiastic about browsing the threads out there compared to in here where most threads live up to or exceed my expectations
  7. Thanks for a good laugh I am honestly a bit divided in the yellow-vs-flesh debate...I used to totally scorn the fleshies, but after seeing so many great MOCs with more realistic color schemes (for example by DC) I am beginning to like the fleshies more and more. I suppose it might end up the same way as the light grey-light bley transition for me...it took me almost 10 years to start buying lego again after the change of color palette but now I think the old grey colors look bad and try to avoid them. So far I've got far more figs in yellow, but I like that the fleshies in general seems to have more elaborated expressions vs the more "kid focused" yellow faces (excluding the CMFs).
  8. Definitely recognizeable as Mpya Stedor, nice to see builders daring to interpret other builders "hometowns"! I agree with Damaximus, that grey tube on the side of the ship looks at least as dangerous to those on board as to those in another ship. I would stick with ballistas or incendiary weapons in a naval battle rather than that dangerous piece of experimental explosive technology
  9. @ZC: Would it be ok to repost the Ch VI MOCs in separate threads in the main forum to draw some more attention here, or would it be to spam a bit too much? If it is ok, it would be possible then to include more pictures per MOC as well
  10. Nice build overall, and especially the stonework and the smart solution for the legs of the sitting fig!
  11. Outstanding vegetation and good tension you have captured there :)
  12. I agree with the praise for the successful wall technique, looks fantastic!
  13. Another great build from you, the minifigs are great and I like the level of detail on the ground as well :)
  14. Fantastic build with a lot of details to admire, especially the stonework! But as a subarctic dweller myself I'm a bit surprised that there is still snow on the steeper roofs but not on the less sloping one? But must of course be because of the shadow of the tower for most of the sunlight hours I also like that you have used a nice white backdrop, but if you want to use the pictures unedited maybe you should try to lessen the difference between the "floor" and the "wall" and maybe improve the joint between them on the right side where there is a small gap. Another small photo tip is to use something behind the door when shooting the closeup (some cardboard or just some big black plates) to get rid of the light in the gaps in the door design. I had a ton of problems with that in my Ch VI interior where I had a spotligt directed at the window and the light wanted to get through everywhere else as well even though the walls were 2 studs thick...
  15. Nice scene and great twist with the orcs trying to rescue the baby from the (evil?) humans :)
  16. I recognize that one from somewhere ;) Nice build but also nice to compare with your latest work and see how you have improved as a builder!
  17. Fantastic stonework in that tower (I don't know if I've ever seen so few gaps in a round shape of that size), and the color palette is very well balanced!
  18. Anyone else who thinks flickr has become unusable today? Ridiculously slow and half the time just doesn't want to load pages for me...
  19. I try to browse through and comment a bit in the "historic themes" forum sometimes, but alas it is hard enough to keep up with the subforum...
  20. Thanks for the feedback! As I said in the Kaliphlin thread, this was something to keep my hands busy while watching the ice hockey finals yesterday trying out some new techniques. So: sorry for the sparse "forest", you have to imagine the rest I'm probably most satisfied with the ground foilage and the large tree trunk, the crown of the large tree became too small and compact to be a pine tree...looking at some real pines while driving in the forest today I think it should have been more like the crown of the smaller tree (but larger of course).
  21. Nice build, I like your terrainwork a lot! It looks like the new soldiers are bringing quite a bit of goods, I hope it will aid us in the war...or at make our merchants wealthier ;) I'd love to hear more about Djun and the other characters, especially the mysterious red one.
  22. Built a small free-build in front of the TV this afternoon while watching the ice hockey world championship finals, looks more Avalonian than Kaliphlin but it shows a part of northern Kaliphlin (north of Eastgate actually) which actually has a very pleasant climate and lush forests.
  23. Most of Kaliphlin has a Mediterranean or North African climate, but the northern parts are more temperate and along the border to Avalonia there are lush forests. Deep inside the forest north of Eastgate, Kaliphlin soldiers are patrolling underneath the pine trees on a fine spring morning. What used to be a quiet borderland to the friends in the lands of Avalonia, nowadays is a dangerous area since there are both orcs and worse things hiding inside the forests...
  24. Welcome to the South! Kaliphlin is probably the most diverse guild, and I do not doubt that you will fit in very well in this colorful land
  25. Awesome creatures! And I love that you actually put the flick-fire missiles to some use As Ska said the ground is a bit "rough", but when you don't decorate it at all as you have done I think it can be all right since I can then regard it as you have chosen a lower level of detail. But as we are aspiring to improve here in GoH I would encourage you to try a detailed ground next time
