  1. I'm not sure how having the 1x1 plates attatched is clearly causing the split. Could you explain this more? My Unikitty from Benny's spaceship is fine.
  2. I'm a big fan of police cars, and the Lego Movie uses one that I intially thought was custom made for the movie. This is the four wide police car that is used mostly in background scenes, though it does show up en masse after the escape from Bricksburg. After spending some time reverse engineering it from the various scenes, I realized that the model is actually a slightly modified civilian car that was released in 2012 as 4435 Car and Caravan (the trailer hitch is the giveaway) with influences from 4436 Patrol Car. The car appears to be Black and Light Grey in the movie, which I changed to white because some of the main parts don't exist in light grey, such as the wheel arches. I also added red and blue lights behind the main headlights, though these were my personal preference. Interestingly enough, the roof piece in black does not yet exist and won't until the release of 60097 City Corner later this year. When that set is released, I'll be building several of these to put in my own town. EDIT: Turns out Mark2 has an error in the lights. Instead of using two 99780 Inverted brackets and one 1x2 plate, it should have been one Bracket 1x2 - 1x4 and two 1x4 plates stacked on top of each other. Mark5 has this corrected. 3. Also rare are the two Dark Grey Technic 1x16 bricks with holes. Although I looked in the instructions and they are supporting beams on the inside and the holes aren't required for anything. Could probably be swapped out pretty easily for standard 1x16 bricks. The doors could be swapped pretty easily with the 1 x 4 x 5 door with trans-clear glass if you were trying to stay true to the original design. Although I really like pirzyk's idea of making it a brick higher and changing out the greys.
  4. That shuttle looks awful (might be a weird angle), but I'm a huge fan of the Training Jet Transporter. It's been a while since we've had a jet plane from City/Town.
  5. I'm glad they went with the classic style of torso instead of what they used in 2009. Also looks like they updated the old Redbeard torso!
  6. I'm not as big of a fan of 7939 as everyone else, at least when it comes to the engine. I think it's quite ugly and that the engine in 60052 is much better looking. The cargo in 7939 is top notch though.
  7. While I don't own either one (at the moment), the Palace Cinema was only released a few months ago, and will almost definitely be around longer than the Haunted House.
  8. It probably depends on the set. A quick look on eBay and Bricklink shows that the cheapest UCS millennium falcon is 1,850 USD (!!). Bricklinking it will almost certainly be cheaper, and there's a lot of suspense, waiting for all those parts, and slowly watching them build up. It's quite the exciting journey. A note of warning about trying to cut down on shipping costs though. I'm currently Bricklinking a Market Street, and one thing I've noticed is that trying to use the fewest sellers isn't always the best idea. Currently, the store with the second most unique lots for me currently has a particular piece for 0.43 each. I need 29 of them, which comes out to 12.47. However, nearly every other seller that has at least 29 has them priced at ~0.08 each, which comes out to 2.40, a significant savings. I personally don't find the 10 dollar difference to be worth it. I'd rather pay postage from several different sellers at that rate.
  9. I never really had a dark ages, I just had years when I purchased significantly fewer sets due to lack of money mostly. That was about 2003-2005 when I was 13-15 years old. I only picked up select Bionicle and Star Wars sets during that time period. Once I started working in 2006, I then picked up my purchase rate.
  10. I own both ships, and I feel that the RBR is superior to the BB. Despite it's collapsing masts and "exploding" deck, the RBR feels like a much sturdier model that the BB does. It feels a lot lighter as well, which is due to the fact that RBR has approximately 100 more pieces. The RBR can also carry a total of 8 cannons, two of which can sit at a higher level than the ones in the picture. The one thing that bugged me the most about the BB is how the sails are held into place. It utilizes a brown cone that sits at the end of a technic hose/pipe, and has a tendency to pop off if you hit it.
  11. Ugh! If they discontinue Kingdoms for LOTD AND keep Pirates of the Caribbean around, I'm seriously going to cry. Okay, well not really But seriously, besides City, those are my favorite themes, and that's way too many licenses and fleshies being thrown around for too many "core" themes (yes, pirates isn't a core theme, but it seems to sell well).
  12. Brickbeard's Bounty, Skull's Eye Schooner, Red Beard Runner (2001 Release), Black Seas Barracuda (2002 Release), Armada Flagship (1996 Release), Cross Bone Clipper, and The Queen Anne's Revenge.
  13. I can't stand fleshies, they clash way too much for me. I do like all the new accessories that came with the PotC theme though. Unfortunately for Blackbeard however, his QAR is going to be given to another pirate at some point :D
  14. Very nice! My Maersk ship is still in it's box, and now I'm afraid to build it after seeing your changes. Did you use two sets of the ship to do this?
  15. Great start! I really like the use of old and new sets, you've made it work out very nicely. I always though that the shop building from 7633 Construction Site looked a bit bleh, but now that I've seen yours in a layout, it doesn't look half that bad
  16. I do find them to be on the expensive side. Thankfully, the only one I want is the Queen Anne's Revenge. I do not like fleshies at all, but that ship looks pretty awesome
  17. I picked mine up yesterday, along with the Maersk Container Ship. All I can say is WOW! The train is an amazingly beautiful set.
  18. Has anyone had experience with missing stickers from brand new sets? I recently bought Set# 7498 and the sticker sheet is missing one of the stickers on it. I think it got peeled off due to how the bags and instructions were crammed into the box (that's another issue itself..). I emailed Lego customer service, but do they just send you an entire new sticker sheet? This one is massive.
  19. I think the addition of one of the old skeletons was possibly the most exciting thing, at least initially since I grew up with them. 7947 Prison Tower Rescue has an extra dark green plume for the dragon knight, or I stuck a flame in his helmet, which makes him look quite menacing!
  20. I really hope they do a rerun of some of the modular buildings. Market Street has already hit $500+ on eBay, and that was MSRP $89.99!
  21. You own 364 sets (355 different). We have piece counts for 341 of them. Using that data we have calculated that you own 68915 pieces!
  22. Does anyone's Knights Crown not stay on the guy's head?! Mine acts as if there is a spring in the bottom and will not stay on his head at all!
  23. I like to think of the crownies (I call them the Three Point Kingdom) as an alliance that was formed together between all the human factions to fight the unified threat of the skeletons and orcs. After they were defeated, the Three Point Kingdom split off into the Lion Knights and Dragon Knights due to differences. Going beyond Castle, the Lion Knights eventually became the Imperial Soldiers / Red coats as technology improved, since the Lion Knight in 7947 Prison Tower Rescue as the same face as the Admiral in the revamped Pirates line. Likewise, Dragon Knights evolved into Pirates, while the last of the Three Point Kingdom became the Spanish Armada and Blue Coats. I have yet to incorporate in any of my Castle sets from the 90's
  24. I enjoyed the Classic Ninja line, and I had high hopes on this line... but I don't know. They seem really weird. I can't exactly put my finger on it. The only sets I'd consider getting would be the White Dragon set and the smaller single ninja sets.
  25. I also keep all my set boxes. I've started shoving them inside one another now to conserve space, which ironically doesn't seem to help much as I keep buying big boxed sets and they don't like to play along with each other!
