Thanks, I'm happy you liked it. The embassy has a chimney because that's an essential part of a house in Mitgardia. I wanted the embassy to have a typical Mitgardian style even though it was placed in a completely different environment then usual. Therefore the chimney, the steep roof and wooden planks. Unfortunately there is nothing underneath the embassy. I built up a structure to get the elevation right and not after I had built a lot on top of that I realized that I could have made something of that space. And then I didn't want to break down what I had done and start over. A good idea, but I thought of it too late.

Another embassy up: The Northmen's house in Petraea. -
The Kaliphlin capital of Petraea is the centre of trade and administration in the south. People from all over the world gather here and even some adventurers from the cold northern regions of Mitgardia ends up here. Therefore, the northern guild has put up an embassy in Petraea to assist their countrymen in need. The embassy is located not far from one of the many city gates in a neighbourhood that hosts both wealthy and poor. The Petraean City Guards are dressed in the Kaliphlin Guild's colours, red and dark blue, colours that also can be seen on several houses in the city. Even though the Kaliphlins are usually hard working people, some lazy bums can be found in every society. Southern decadence in one of the more wealthy houses. The Northmen's house got a nice view, situated on top of a small hill. The strong sunshine quickly fades away the colours so repainting is always needed. From the left we can see some stairs leading up towards the higher level of the city. Back side, and a better view of the embassy. And here we have the ambassador himself, drenched in sweat. Not only because of the heat but also because he's having a hard argument with a local resident of high status. View from the right. An aerial shot of the neighbourhood from the highest tower. Many more photos can be found in my Flickr here: LINK Thank you for checking out this MOC of mine. I've never built anything with so many angles, and it was very challenging to make it all fit together. But I'm quite pleased with the result and especially with how the brown house with the red roof on the wall turned out. I find it very fun to look at it IRL with all its different houses and small areas, I hope I've been able to catch at least some of that with my photos.

Push a little harder. -
That is a very Eurocentric view that doesn't take into consideration that similar features appears in many other parts of the world. Just because it's most known in our culture from a certain time period doesn't mean it could appeared somewhere else. Heroica only exists in our mind, we make the rules and background for it. The reason why there are knights in this world doesn't have to be the same as in our. Likewise with pirate, we can't presume that just because there are pirates and gunpowder present in Heroica it takes place in a Renaissance-like world. But I want to point out that even though I would love to dive deeper into the cultural structures and historical background of Heroica, I think we might want to keep it simple so that it can be easily accessible for all players, and keep and open attitude towards inclusion of different features that might not always fit together logically but gives a nice player experience. No, that's not what I said. I said that mixing fiction and real life religion in a game here on Eurobricks is a bad idea and begging for problem. Our discussion is more about what Heroica is built upon and what kind of references that can be used in the game. That should be fine to discuss I think, but I guess it might get boring fast. Besides, keeping it simple and just go with the flow is probably the best solution for everything.

Yeah, I just wanted to promote Mercutio a little since he is supposed to be the most popular god in Eubric but so few of the heroes care about him. The Followers of Ennoc in my quest is indeed somewhat inspired by Christians, or more specifically the Crusaders. But perhaps even more by the Children of the Light or Whitecloaks from Robert Jordan's fantasy series The Wheel of Time. I think you are exaggerating the historical inspiration for this fantasy world. The time period isn't medieval, it's just inspired by it. So much is different from our world so you can't really apply our culture and historical facts on in. Personally I don't think we should have real religions in Heroica, that is just begging for problems. We have an opportunity to use our imagination freely and I think we should use it. Sandy has put up some great guidelines about the world, its inhabitants and their beliefs but left us with a lot of options for us to come up with our own unique characters and quests. Use the Library, it's a great resource. @palathadric: I don't say this to criticise you or your character, in fact I really like him! But I see a problem with him representing a religion that doesn't fit with the rest of the world he is living in, and it can become an issue with having real life religion in the game and on this website where we've chosen not to discuss that subject.

The most popular god in Eubric is actually Mercutio, the Trickster, at least amongst the inhabitants of the city (check the Library). But the heroes in Heroica has a more diverse selection of deities.

Not until they're back after the quest.

Good work! Nice dark version of the lush Avalonian nature. The wall with the small golems is very nice too.

The highlander sword fits. The gladiator has a spear. The sword does NOT fit into the prince-of-persia double-sword back scabbard. Both the Highlander's (S6) and the Gladiator's (S5) swords fit fine. The one with a spear in S6 is a Roman Legionary. -
I second this. I'm almost done with 2034 and now I want to read the first one again. Really interesting story and setting. I've been pondering to try and write something post-apocalyptic myself but I realize that what I really want is to just keep reading more from Dmitrij Gluchovskij.

I said earlier that I thought I would have my embassy finished by now, but I'm still waiting for one BL order to finish of the last details. But here is a small sneak peak for you: Mitgardian Embassy by Etzel87, on Flickr -
Not only that. The smaller ones on the edges says "Leg Godt" and "Play Well". That is my favourite LEGO Easter egg I think.

That's an awesome build! First time I've seen a Swede build something like that too. When I saw the topic I was kinda hoping for the real 17th century Vasa ship, but this is great too! I hope you check by swebrick.se and show your work there as well, I'm sure many will be impressed.

"We only have two Lightning Bombs left, that would only do 20 damage. I think it's best if we concentrate on these three Automatons until they're out or close to. I can keep the first one asleep a bit longer." -

It's not a real quest unless the party looses at least one battle, and even better if it's humiliating like loosing to a bunch of insects.
