  1. There was no exclusivity agreement, but I didn't make a complete digital model, so instructions will not be possible. I know, I know, but as you say, at this scale FWD is nigh impossible. The vpp steering is nothing more complicated than what you see. The steering column is connected to the rotor piece. The 0.5*5L liftarms transfer the movement to the thick 5L liftarms. The trick is that the pivotpoints at the frame are 3 studs apart (center to center), whereas at the wheel they are 2 studs apart. This creates two diagonal lines that virtually cross each other somewhere at the center of the wheel. Another advantage of this setup is that the wheel is now at a half stud offset. The #3 connectors are at a full stud distance, so that gives a nice half a stud clearance for the wheels. Since the virtual pivotpoint will actually move around when steered the wheel stays within the 7 studs space at all angles. In that sense it is quite a neat mechanism for cars at this scale. Sorry, the model is already at the customer. But as explained above, the steering is not more complicated than what you see on the bellyshot. The body is pretty integrated into the structure of the car (so far I haven't been able to design a separate body for any of my cars). And since the model is no longer in my possession a video will not be possible (there is not too much to show I thought). Practice, practice and practice and you will be able to. Here is a picture of the actual model: As you can see this particular model is quite short because it is only a two door version. The roof is a tad too high though, you spotted that well. It is a consequence of the high dashboard, which was a consequence of the slightly too high bonnet, which was needed to fit the engine above the steering system... The seats are adjustable, so you can move them further back if you want. The dead space above the front wheels bugged me as well, but I was not able to come up with a pretty solution for this area. So in the end I decided that I preferred the attention to the curved lines instead of trying to fill the gap with a clutter of parts. The two door version is not a very common version, but as shown above it does exist. Thank you all for your comments, it is much appreciated.
  2. Great car. I love it. But that video really lifts it
  3. Hi, I'd like to present my latest model: It is a Ford Focus ST that I built in commission for a customer. Despite its scale it does have the following features: - Steering (with a virtual pivot point, Ackermann geometry and a working steeringwheel) - A 3 cylinder fake engine - Opening doors, bonnet and trunk - Adjustable seats The model is packed with half stud offsets to capture the lines of the car in this scale. Here you can see both the steering setup and some of those half-stud constructions: And a shot with all doors open. The model is quite sturdy and can be lifted from the roof, the rear and the front without trouble. Comments and questions are welcome Leg godt Jeroen
  4. So what's with the LEGO Friends colouring of this forum? Or is this a ploy to make us frequent the scale modeling forum more often?
  5. Great models. Something for the scale modeling subforum?
  6. Lovely jeep And a very nice parts usage for the large actuator holder in the steering setup As usual, the lines on your model are just so clean
  7. That could be the case, especially for the fragile rims I have seen sevenstuds designs, but these are 7-spoke versions, just like the LEGO ones, so then I prefer the real thing
  8. Thx for the quick reply. I want to use black rims behind this cover, so that is not too big an issue, but fragility is... I do not fully understand your comment about the colour. If I choose a white design I do not get any options in the pull-down menu of the colour, except for white. For me shapeways does not offer a paint option.
  9. Hi I am looking for wheel covers for the Mercedes AMG GTR in black for the 56mm wheels. Is this something you can do? On shapeways most of the designs are only available in white it seems. Has that changed recently? I do remember that before you could choose which colour you wanted to use.
  10. That is a lot of progress But I must admit, I am not sold on your top part. The dark grey area feels too long for me (although the angles of the photograph may have to do with that as well as @Didumos69 pointed out). Also the colouring of the doors is a bit of a jungle with the black, dark and light grey. The windows flow very nice from the white bodywork, but maybe it is even a bit too smooth. A slightly more pronounced change in angle would maybe help? As usual, these are just my opinions, feel free to ignore them
  11. I somehow had missed that it is a frontaxle driven car. Silly me. Do you have to take apart the chairs to get the flat bottom in the trunk? Or am I looking to the back of the chairs now? What is the suspension setup in the rear? Also McPherson? It just keeps getting better (and bigger ) And of course enjoy the holiday
  12. You didn't have any problems mounting the yellow ring? I remember that it was a pain to insert those 5L axles... Impressive progress nonetheless
  13. I think it was mentioned in the designer video of the 42009 or in one of the interviews Markus gave. And I ran into the same issue on my Liebherr LTM11200 (in the outriggers )
  14. The blue pins are just a little bit longer than 3L so they stick out if you would use them. That will hamper the extension of the beam (it might even lock up). The black pins are 2L (or maybe ever so slightly less), so these do not protrude.
  15. Hmm... this calls for an A-B-C model... Especially with the Porsche upperdeck you should be at >50% parts reuse between the 3 models I would estimate.
  16. I am switching to a system of AUER packaging: https://www.auer-packaging.com/nl/en/Insertable-bins-for-assortment-boxes.html The containers themselves come in various sizes (I prefer the 1x1 till 2x3 grid sizes). I plan to make a drawer system in which I can put these containers. The big advantage I see is that I can adapt the size of the container to the size of the collection of certain parts instead of the other way around. They also offer cases in which you can put these containers, but that will drive the price up (I think the cases are 20 euros a piece). In terms of product quality, customer service, website navigation, etc. it is top notch.
  17. The video might not be the greatest editing, but it sure shows the functionality. It is still amazing how many functions you were able to put in that space.
  18. The density is amazing. It reminds me of the excavator of Sheo. Are you sure you will be able to take it apart again?
  19. What can I say? Such a beautiful creation. I'm really looking forward to that video. You have some very lucky kids
  20. Very nice. EB is flooded with great MOC's lately. Summer must have started early
  21. The outriggers look interesting, but they do not form-lock when in the lowest position or do they? Ideally you want the driving liftarm to go just a bit further than the maximum it needs for full lift and then it should be blocked. That way, when you push against the outrigger from the bottom the driving linkage will try to turn further, but since it is blocked it can't do that. The way it is now you will push the driving liftarm up again. The only thing that stop it from doing that is the driving axle. It is typically a lot of trial and error to get a linkage that works like I described (maybe the linkage on the crane of the Claas Xerion can be used?)
  22. Work of art! The bodywork reminds me of the Predator by Nathaniël Kuipers, the paneling is just exquisite. The chairs look a bit uncomfy, but that is really just nitpicking. This is a truly inspirational car
  23. It is coming together very nicely. I hope you make those doors work, they look great. It is less boxy already AFAIK the only flexaxle in DBG is 11L, so you can use that maybe.
  24. Looks good! I especially like the front, very clean and aggresive. And I love that character in the shots, it really gives a sense of size
