At least there's some variety. The Star Wars setting is much less creative. It's exactly what you said about the Drill Walker, only without the mining part. Also, the Aliens HAVE seen some improvement since '07. The Infiltrator isn't half bad.

So basically, you cited as faults what everybody had been complaining about since the first information of the set arrived? Skeletal interior and lack of clones? Although I didn't realize it didn't have numbered backs. That really is just ridiculous. LEGO finally comes up with a very intelligent solution to the frustration seen when building large sets, but then they neglect to implement it. WTF? Lame. Still, this may be the only Clone Wars set I buy besides the exclusives. The exterior, which IMO is the only part that matters, looks so fantastic. I don't care about clones, I have enough of those already. And at 90$ it's still a better buy than the RGS. The Torrent is cool but not as cool as the Fighter Tank or DGS imo. Awesome in-construction pics.

Um... no. Every time somebody bought one, LEGO would actually loose money. The production costs would be more money than they're making from sales.

The human vehicles really aren't that heavily armed for the most part... and when the human sets are so good, why should the aliens bother you?

LEGO is a toy company. Unless you want them to go bankrupt they're going to try to make a profit. Due to marketing decisions, the sets they think will sell well they make a little more expensive in order to maximize their income. It's because of their income that they can experiment with new ideas so often; we get a couple brand new themes every year, and most other companies wouldn't take those kinds or risks. MegaBloks sure doesn't. Sometimes it seems like a rip-off, but whining when a set is five bucks more expensive than you think it should be isn't only annoying, but it shows that we're a little spoiled.

Dang it, it wasn't at my TRU. v_v I got the AquaRaiders base for 15$ off though.

Hiya, I've noticed a lot of people have been reviewing older LEGO sets as if they just got them... where do you buy old Space themes around here? I'd love to nab a Rock Raiders or UFO set, and put up a review... Thanks! -Alg

Maybe that's why Toys R Us is always a dollar or two more expensive. =/

Bionicle 2001 and beyond: An essay of personal thoughts.

I don't really see the point in bashing Greg, which is just kind of mean. It's not his fault Bionicle has gone downhill. -
If Toys R Us has it, I would think that the LEGO stores would have it, and I checked mine...

I'm sure I could do better. And the overall plot is not complex at all. -
Are the Toys R Us prices going to be more expensive than the normal LEGO prices, as they usually are?
-
Where did the reviewer find it, anyway? I've looked around and I haven't seen it anywhere.

Don't underestimate LEGO when it comes to screwing up their own storyline for the sake of what will sell.

The first three comics were awesome, but then they just got stupid, like everything else in Bionicle. I still have the first three sitting on my desk. The books may be better than the comics, but they're still bad. -

He wasn't making a statement of fact. Personally, it annoys me when people say "but that's just my opinion" as though you couldn't have inferred as much from the content of the post. Just a personal pet peeve of mine. Anyway, since Bionicle switched from gears and Technic mechanisms to pre-constructed gimmicks like the Midak Skyblasters, myself and others have felt that it was loosing a lot of what made it LEGO and not just a beefed-up Galidor. That's not the only thing that's made Bionicle "lame", really, but it's just another factor. -
This is one of the best Creator sets ever, besides the Titan. I want it, but I don't think I have enough money. :(

I'm getting both... I have a thing for giant mechs.

Nooo, no Mata-Nui set plz. I preferred him as a rock.

Bionicle 2001 and beyond: An essay of personal thoughts.

The books have really bad writing in my opinion, which is a shame because MMOLG has surprisingly GOOD writing and I keep expecting those standards from the books. Just another little observation of the differences between 2001 and the other waves: the Rahi. The Rahi were dangerous creatures made more threatening by the influence of Makuta through infected masks. The reason why this was cool is because you could make up your own Rahi without having it conflict with Bionicle storyline. There were dozens of Rahi creatures that never actually got released as sets. Nowadays there's six enemies and six alone for you to collect, and if you make up your own you feel like you're playing outside of Bionicle canon. Also, Makuta was just so much cooler as a bodiless entity. Once the set came out I got so pissed- it totally ruined what used to be a really cool bad guy. I also feel like the sense of mystery has been underplayed. In 2001, we had NO idea where the Toa came from. All we knew is that six robotic elemental knights had arrived on a wild, foreboding land to save the inhabitants from the menace of the bodiless Makuta. The obscurity lent Bionicle a real sense of mystic, tribal religion that was so original and captivating. After Metru-Nui, it lost a lot of this. -
Surprisingly fluid.

Go ahead. :P

I won't like SW minifigs until the faces are yellow again. The set looks good, but it just doesn't look like 400$ to me.
-
Not from me. Personally I think Bionicle has gotten really, really stupid, and any change from this point forward can only be an improvement.

I don't believe theres been a review of the AT-TE...
