  1. By "less cartoonish", do you mean less stylised shapes? If so, I have to disagree. The wizard's hat - and to a lesser extent, the fool's cap - are classic pieces. I'd hate to see them go. If you mean more detailed printing, I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, more detailed printing looks great on the minifig for which it is designed. On the other hand, it makes the printed part harder to match with other parts and therefore less versatile. I was thinking that too or maybe the Laketown Guard's helmet from The Hobbit: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=15806pb01
  2. Do you mean something like the MOC on the left of this picture? Or just get one of the Harley Quinn minifigs. She's a female jester: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=sh024 or http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=bat026
  3. Do you mean a cross between the MOC minifig on the left of this pic and the minifig directly behind it?
  4. The Papa John's pizza delivery people near me arrive on branded motorbikes wearing branded padded jackets and helmets. I don't know what the other language is as I haven't seen the Facebook page. I'm assuming it's English. When there have been leaks of minifig lists in the past, they've typically originated in languages other than English. If that's the case here, then the English one is translated from Hungarian. Of course, it could be different this time. And ultimately, I'm guessing that they all start in Danish anyway. Thanks for clarifying the translation of the word "adventurer".
  5. I'm liking the sounds of the historic/fantasy ones. There are so many this time round which is great. Shame about the proposed price increase. i.e. matching the Simpsons' price. We need to be a bit careful because these are simply translations from Hungarian. I don't know about Hungarian, but in English, the word "swashbuckler" isn't gender specific. In literature and film, however, swashbucklers have mostly been men, e.g. the Three Musketeers, Cyrano de Bergerac, the Scarlet Pimpernel and Zorro. Perhaps an emo girl that makes use of the folded down hood piece: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=15428pb01
  6. TLG was lucky that the media missed the opportunity last time. They may not make the same mistake (from their perspective) again. The fact that it happened before wouldn't stop the media: they're pretty forgiving of their own oversights.
  7. Neither TLG nor any other toy company should ever use "Bounty" in a product's name, particularly not a ship's. The most (in)famous real life ship called the Bounty was taken over by Fletcher Christian and other mutineers in the late 18th century. They settled on Pitcairn Island and had children with the local polynesian women. In 2004, their descendants were involved in a scandal involving the men and children on the island. I can't go into detail because of EB rules, but trust me when I say that what happened there was utterly repugnant and nothing with which TLG wants to be even remotely associated - a PR disaster in the making.
  8. @BrickBuilder3213 Entirely possible that they'll have the Ninjago minifig you're after, but you may find it for less on BrickLink. Please let us know how it goes. For what it's worth, I ordered the dragon from Dragon Mountain from LEGO Customer Service. I didn't think they would sell it outside the set, but they did.
  9. There's already a discussion about the Daily Mail promotion here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=25314&st=1950
  10. Thanks, Peter... erm, I mean Spider-Man!
  11. I usually rotate the arm back then lever it towards the front, easing it out as slowly as possible. I sometimes leave the hand in place when I do it, but never use the hand for leverage or purchase. So far, it's always worked.
  12. Interesting! How did you attach the arm at the shoulder? It looks like a regular shoulder-to-arm joint but it can't be if the arm is a length of hose.
  13. Classic space. When it came out, I was deciding whether to focus on it or classic castle. My older brother convinced me that classic castle would be discontinued. I can't recall why I believed him, but I did. So I went with classic space. I wound up getting most of the early sets. In retrospect, they seem unsophisticated but back then articulated minifigures in spaceships and moon bases was the best thing imaginable.
  14. Three MOC minifigs of visitors from Hades. The one on the left I've had for years but gave him the voodoo doll not long ago. The one on the right, I've had for a while but not photographed before. The one in the middle is brand new using the latest BrickWarriors wings in orange. Apologies for the rubbish photography. My only camera is my phone which dates back to the Stone Age.
  15. This thread http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=94997 is in the Licensed forum but as it pertains only to minifigs and big figs, it should be in the Minifig Customisation forum. Can a friendly mod please move it to the right forum? Thanks, Amps
  16. A British newspaper, the Daily Mail, will soon be running a Lego promotion. You can see the polybags that will be part of the promo here: http://brickset.com/sets/list-10595 The 30247 ARC-170 Starfighter is pretty rare. I believe it's never been available in North America or continental Europe. If you're interested in any of these, please: 1. express your interest by posting below, and 2. PM me to let me know specifically what you're after and if you want to buy or trade. I'm after: - a sealed Iron Man polybag ( http://brickset.com/sets/30167-1/Iron-Man-vs-Fighting-Drone ) - the Hulk big fig (both trouser colours) in mint condition - the Taskmaster minifig in mint condition - the Neimoidian Warrior minifig ( http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=sw536 ) in mint condition. I'll also take payment by Paypal. I charge postage and packing at cost and send to the US, Canada, most but not all of Western Europe (including the UK!), Japan, S. Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Amps
  17. I'm not a mod, but as this thread pertains only to minifigs/big figs, it should be in the Minifig Customisation Workshop forum: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showforum=90 Like others who have posted in this thread, I feel differently about artisan customisers who modify LEGO parts than I do about companies that steal TLG's, Disney's and customisers' intellectual property. That said, I can understand how someone would be tempted by some of the counterfeits especially of minifigs that either aren't made by TLG or command very high prices. I hope the knock-offs encourage TLG to stop producing convention exclusives and major characters in only the most expensive sets. Electro is a good example of a unique minifig in a reasonably priced set ( http://brickset.com/sets/76014-1/Spider-Trike-vs-Electro ), evidence that TLG can do it profitably.
  18. I recently bought 76014 Spider-Trike vs Electro mostly for the Electro minifig. While Spidey's trike isn't bad, it looks a bit bulky on the underside, so I set myself the following challenge: using only the parts in the set, MOC a land vehicle for Spidey. Having parts left over and using building techniques TLG probably wouldn't approve of were allowed. Parts not included were banned. This is what I came up with: Play features include pivoting front wheels and elevating rear wheels. I didn't include any flick-fire missiles; I don't like them. Apologies for the rubbish photography. My only camera is my phone which is positively precambrian. Thoughts about the MOC? Suggestions?
  19. Here are the minifig superhero and supervillain MOCs of which I have pictures. I have a few more I haven't photographed yet. I'm mostly not into heavy modding but I'm also not a purist as you can see from the third party parts. Apologies for the rubbish photography. My only camera is my phone which dates back to the dawn of time. Wolverine! Hawkeye Riddler (already posted on EB - reposted for completion) Electro
  20. Sorry, autorazr. I genuinely thought Raincloud came up with the idea first. You raise an interesting question about giving or not giving credit that goes way beyond this thread about the Riddler's cane. So I started a new thread in the General forum here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=95058
  21. In another forum here at EB, it was suggested that by posting an idea or picture that you were implicitly giving anyone seeing it free reign to copy it without giving you credit. Do you agree or disagree with the assumption? If you copy someone's idea, should you give credit? Or is it the case that there's nothing new under the LEGO sun and therefore nobody is really creating anything anyway? In the incident leading to the above, I wasn't the person copied. I had copied an idea but gave credit. Turns out that the person I credited thought they were the first to come up with the idea, but wasn't. So I innocently credited the wrong person.
  22. @LOTRfan Don't know what, if anything in particular, influenced these parts, but some BW pieces appear to be inspired by the movie Immortals.
  23. Thanks for your kind words, Numbuh1Nerd. Captain America fan 1 is correct about the torso: it is indeed Mr Brurns' from the Simpsons CMFs. So are the legs. The top of the cane is a hook hand (credit to RaincloudDustbin for the idea) but I had to cut the stem, i.e. the part that normally fits inside the forearm, to make it fit the light sabre handle. The bottom of the cane is a cut down bar. I don't like cutting pieces but at least both cuts are hidden inside the light sabre handle. You want to make a flesh version? Wash your mouth out with soap! Fleshies are a crime against all that's good in this world.
