The Riddler already exists of course, but here's my smartly dressed variant. The cane isn't purist; please ignore it. The head is only slightly modified in that I removed the robber's moustache print. The rest is purist.

@Zanki Thanks for the tip! I did not know that. @Kaitan Good to know. There's a Waterstones near my Argos and WHS. Always handy to have more options. @Sam892 Shame I didn't know your wants sooner. I had a Maggie and Wigam in hand yesterday and would have got them for you at cost had I known.

The Riddler's Cane ( The proper one...)
AmperZand replied to RaincloudDustbin's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
All due credit to RaincloudDustbin for the hook-as-question-mark idea. I used it in this MOC of the smartly dressed Riddler: -
The nearest Argos and WHS are quite close to each other. I prefer WHS for exactly the reason you point out: you can feel for the ones you want with less hassle at WHS. You can do it at Argos too, but you have to buy loads first, feel for the ones you want and return the ones you don't want, which is a nuisance for me (and potentially other customers as well) and a cost to Argos. After posting above, I discovered that an Entertainer near me has them so I popped over there instead and got what I wanted. The staff not only were happy for me to feel the bags, they even tried to find what I was after. They said that the Simpsons minifigs were selling very well.

Have the Simpsons minifigs hit WHS yet?

I've been meaning to ask for a while what's the best way to remove the key-chain from a LEGO torch/key-chain such as this one: http://www.keyringstore.com/lego-keyrings/801-lego-ninjago-lord-garmadon-keyring-torch-flashlight-keychain.html I don't think the insides are the same as minifig key-chains so suspect the removal methods already linked to in this thread won't work. Any ideas?

BrickForge does some transparent sci-fi weapons, for example: http://www.brickforge.com/store/product.php?productid=17524&cat=390&page=1 Note that despite its name, BrickForge's products are its own original designs, i.e. completely legit, and are not clones/counterfeits or violations of anyone's IP.

Thanks for pointing that other thread out, Gnac. I've posted there. Not quite sure why anyone would post in this thread knowing that that one already exists. More than one thread on essentially the same topic makes for untidy boards. If there's a friendly mod about, perhaps this thread should be merged with that one or simply locked.

Part 1: - Part name: Minifig neck bracket with two clips - Part description: --> A bracket that fits on a minifig's back with two clips for wings, weapons etc. A third party company, Minifigcat, does one ( http://www.minifigcat.com/shop/home.php?cat=509 ) but TLG should produce an official one. - Part usage: --> Articulated wings for minifigs! What kid who has ever owned minifigs hasn't wanted to roleplay one flying? Useful for super heroes, fantasy and mythology. If you're a purist not willing to use Minifigcat's brackets or simply not able to get them, you either have to settle for fixed wings such as these parts: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=98722 , http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=93250pb01 , http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=11599 , or the Legends of Chima approach: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=11097 with two 1 x 1 clip plates. The Legends of Chima method is disproportionately bulky for a minifig, covers a lot of the minifig's chest printing, has a particular look that doesn't suit many applications and is ridiculously heavy looking for a flying minifig. I could not have created the minifig below left using LEGO only: Part 2: - Part name: Lion - Part description: --> A minifig scale lion. Ideally, with a mane that can be removed to create a lioness and other large cats. Also, a removable 1 x 2 brick so that the lion/large cat can be ridden by a minifig just as LEGO horses can. - Part usage: --> Any number of uses from a City zoo or safari to a mount in a fantasy setting. This one has already been mentioned in this thread and elsewhere but is worth repeating as it's such a staggering omission from the available animals. TLG has produced an ostrich and a clam but never a lion. Amazing!

I recently bought set 76014 Spider-Trike vs Electro mostly for the Electro minifig. But I'm really not keen on exposed head studs on minifigs and have already ordered a hair piece from BrickLink for the minifig even though the character in the movie is bald. I've got hundreds of minifigs in my display collection but only three (Spider-Man and two microfigures) have studs on top. The rest have hat or hair pieces or pre-shaped head pieces (like the goblinoid in this pic: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AmperZand/Fantasy/psyche_and_sidekick.jpg ) and are therefore SNOT. Even TLG seems to be moving away from exposed head studs if the grandpa minifig from CMF series 10 is anything to go by: http://minifigures.lego.com/en-GB/Bios/Grandpa.aspx What are your thoughts? Do you have a SNOT policy for your minifigs? Or are you happy to have exposed studs for your baldies?

If you're not a purist and are willing to go third party, try the back piece produced by Minifigcat: http://www.minifigcat.com/shop/home.php?cat=509 . I think you'll be able to clip the shield in place. I used a white one to attach the hawk-man's wings in the picture below. Don't know why TLG doesn't produce a part like this. It seems so obviously useful.

Which element do you use the most of?
AmperZand replied to Hrw-Amen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
An interesting question! Do you mean any given element's shape in a specific colour and print, e.g. 2 x 4 bricks in tan, or do you just mean any given shape regardless of colour and printing, e.g. 2 x 4 bricks in any colour? Also, do you mean TLG's definition of "element" or BrickLink's? If you mean BrickLink's and are just asking about shape, the part I use most is the minifigure hand: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=983 . If you mean TLG's and are just asking about shape, it would be the minifig torso assembly. If you mean TLG's and include colour and printing specifications, it would probably be one of the minifig weapons, most likely the halberd in pearl dark grey that I used to arm most of my Uruk-Hai: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3848 . As you may have guessed, I mostly MOC minifigs. -
BrickWarriors - New Medieval Weapons
AmperZand replied to Thrash's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I've already placed an order for some double flails and torches. Hopefully, they'll arrive next week. Almost every time they produce new medieval or fantasy parts (though not always new colours), I get some. I think I love BW a bit too much! The minifig on the right of the picture below couldn't have been done without BW. The plumbata and leg winglets of the minifig on the left are also BW. -
Can everyone please read the thread from the start before contributing? People suggesting animals that have either already been covered or are fantasy creatures and therefore outside the ambit of this thread is getting annoying. Thanks.

A couple of my fantasy minifigs. I've had the Devil one for a while but the Hawkman is a new addition. He's not supposed to be the DC superhero. I imagine him belonging to a race akin to the Hawk Men in Flash Gordon but with aquiline heads and feathered lower legs for greater maneuverability. They live in a high mountain kingdom similar to the Eagle Tribe in Legend of Chima.

The BrickLink categories suggested by Aanchir look pretty comprehensive. There's only one missing: humans. We're animals too! @Tuinman, ostriches were mentioned by williejm.

The Telegraph broke the story in the English-speaking world after it was originally published in Polish. The Telegraph has confirmed that it is not an April fools. Or he's a publicity junky. On the other hand, I quite like your idea that he's a couple of bricks short of a complete set.

I've been an AFOL for 20 years and never realised I was slipping into the clutches of El Diablo himself: http://www.cnet.com/uk/news/lego-is-a-tool-of-satan-says-priest/. I guess I'll have to melt my collection down to save my soul from eternal damnation. ...On second thoughts, I think I'll just keep my LEGO and get more. At least I'll have something to reminisce about when I'm roasting in the pits of hell!

Cool video. Thanks for sharing.

Same here. I generally prefer LEGO, but if TLG doesn't or can't make a part or someone else has a better design, I'll go with other brands. These two minifigs are examples. They're LEGO torsos and legs, Kre-o heads & hair (& bases), and third party pieces from four companies:

REVIEW: 71005 LEGO Minifigures - The LEGO Simpsons Series
AmperZand replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
Great review, WhiteFang! Thank you. I sometimes watch the Simpsons and enjoy it when I do, but I'm not a massive fan. TLG has done a good job of capturing the look of the characters and if I were into the cartoon (or into the City theme and wanted these minifigs for parts), I'd get them all. But as it is, I'll probably only get one or two for parts. Is Scratchy's tail the first LEGO part - apart from fabric ones - to fit between a minifigure's torso and legs? Also, are the two-colours-in-a-mould used for some of the arms and legs a first for TLG? It may herald an era of parts where the colour is more durable. What is the formal/industrial name for putting more than one colour of ABS in a mould? How do they ensure the colours don't mix; do they put the different colours of ABS in one at a time?- 118 replies

Very cool MOC. Great detailing. I also like the way the action gives the impression of a scene from a story. I didn't have the set either, but did have 6020 Magic Shop - and still do. But that wasn't as a kid. I was already an AFOL by then. Like you, I had lots of Space as a kid, but no Castle sets. As a collector of fantasy minifigs, that picture makes my heart sing! A fantastic line-up in every sense. Are the wizards with short legs and BF beards dwarf wizards?

The Fantastic Four are cool. I especially like the way you convey Mr Fantastic's ability to stretch.

I wouldn't read too much into that. An announcement of seemingly poor results is not unusual immediately after an acquisition. In the run-up to a possible buy out, the management of the company for sale (in this case MB) takes near term measures to look more attractive to prospective buyers in the expectation that the first few sets of results after acquisition will not be very impressive. The buyer (Mattel) knows that, of course, so expects as much.

Dungeons & Dragons minifigs including Drizzt
AmperZand replied to AmperZand's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Nothing to do with EB that the links I provided above don't work. I get that. It's a protection that EN World has in place to stop people from using it as a picture sharing site. But the difficulty I have had posting pics has everything to do with EB. Other sites, such as EN World, don't piggy-back on third party sites such as imgur, flick and brickshelf to host their pictures. They host pictures themselves with each account holder having a certain amount of storage space. Speaking of brickshelf, they have finally come through so you should be able to see the pics:- 8 replies
